1. INTRODUCTION
We wish to inform you about the introduction of the new timer and twilight switches range
which will replace the present corresponding range as fully explained in the document.
The new range includes:
• AT electro-mechanical time switches;
• DT digital time switches;
• TW twilight switches;
• TWA astronomical twilight switches.
2. PRODUCT
2A. AT ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TIME SWITCHES
The new electro-mechanical time switches, available both on daily and weekly version
and equipped with a 16A contact, can be set on the scheduled program or on permanent
ON function (ON-OFF only for three modules versions). They fit applications such as
shop lighting system, public buildings, schools, heating and irrigation systems and so
forth. The AT2 range has been introduced in order to cover all the market needs.
NOVELTY
Main advantages:
• exact and readable hour indication;
• dial completely accessible without tools
(don’t need a screwdriver);
• sealable and loss-proof cover;
• overall dimensions of one, two or three modules to cover all the demands;
• ROHS compliant.
Main features:
• switching capacity of 16(4)A for AT1 and 16(3)A for AT2 and AT3;
• 200 hours running reserve on AT1-R, AT3-R and AT3-7R and 150 hours for AT2-R
and AT2-7R;
• daily and weekly versions with or without reserve; 2
ABB SACE
• different minimum switching time:
o 15 minutes for AT1, AT1-R, AT3 and AT3-R (daily switches);
o 120 minutes for AT3-7R (weekly switch);
o 30 minutes for AT2 and AT2-R (daily switches);
o 120 minutes for AT2-7R (weekly switch);

2B. DT DIGITAL TIME SWITCHES
The new digital versions are equipped with a permanent EEPROM memory which allows
them to respect the scheduled program and the preservation of the data and hour
settings also in case of long power supply failures.
The range includes single/double channels versions with one/two change-over contacts
with a switching capacity of 16(10)A.
The programming key, now available on versions DT..-..K, guarantees an easy and fast
programming of n switches avoiding the numbers of errors due to future modifications.
The DT1-IK/DCF time switch can use the antenna DT-DCF for the automatic
synchronization of one or more switches, even if mounted in unsupervised places, with
Frankfurt official time signal transmitted via radio on long waves.
The capacity of the DCF77 signal is around 2.000 km from Frankfurt.
NOVELTY
Main advantages:
• easy programming: thanks to the display menu it’s possible to manage, with only one
touch, the hour programming, visualization and setting;
• programming key: allows to carry out permanent waivers or to copy and protect the
program created;
• pulse mode: allows to carry out pulses with a length from one second to 30 minutes;
• holiday mode: allows to force the ON-OFF output for a certain period;
• random mode: allows to simulate the presence activating the loads following a
random scheme;
• waiver mode: allows to carry out waivers locally or remotely (DT1-IK only) ;
• ROHS compliant;
• backlit display;

2C. TW TWILIGHT SWITCHES
The new modular range of TW twilight switches are used in combination with their
photosensor, included in the package, to detect if the ambient light is higher or lower
than the set level in order to switch on and switch off lighting devices. In addition all the
products are ROHS compliant. The pole mounting version TWP is the ideal solution for
the management of external light systems and has been introduced in order to cover all
the possible mounting applications.
Main advantages:
• TW1
o two signal LEDs: one for the brightness range
and one for the switching status indication;
o mounting and connection instructions printed
on one side of the product;
o preset sensor of 10 Lux
(mean value used for street lighting system)
NOVELTY
• TW2-10K
o 3 brightness ranges from 2 to 10.000 Lux;
o two signal LEDs: one for the brightness range
and one for the switching status indication;
o preset sensor of 10 Lux ;
o sealable cover;
ABB SACE
• TW1-D
o twilight switch in one module with integrated timer which fits, thanks to its
features, the applications where is required the rationalization of the energy
consumption (for example shop windows and lights)
• LS-SP (spare part)
o the external sensor, with the upper part of the external case made up of
thermoplastic material, bears up against ultraviolet rays to guarantee an
homogeneous diffusion of the daylight internally;
o cable-locking nut
ABB SACE
NOVELTY
• TWP
o introduction in the installation market for wall or pole mounting;
o preset sensor of 10 Lux ;
o time saving thanks to the simple and fast maintenance due to the possibility
to replace the sensor without changing the previous wiring
o mounting and connection instructions printed
on one side of the product;

2D. TWA TWILIGHT ASTRONOMICAL SWITCHES
The new TWA twilight astronomical switches complete now the
range and all the needed applications required by the market. NOVELTY
The program uses the geographical parameters, longitude
and latitude, of the place where it’s mounted to control the load.
Thanks to its features the TWA fits applications such as
public lighting system, shop windows, monuments, signs
and so forth and particularly when the external sensor is
subjected to strong external inconveniences like in area with
high level of pollution or in area exposed to vandalic acts.
Main advantages:
• control the lighting systems according to the hour when the sun rises and sets;
• programming made defining the latitude and longitude parameters of the geographical
area (a time zone map is supplied with the product) where the switch is mounted;
• no need of external sensor;
• automatic change of summer/winter hour;
• ROHS compliant;

4. AVAILABILITY AND LEAD TIME
Starting from 15th January 2007 the new range of time and twilight switches will be
available.
Here attached you can find a table with the migration from old range to new one.
The old range will be available until the 26th January 2007 with some exceptions
regarding the DTS 7/3Y, DTS 7/4Y and their accessories, DTS/DCF and DTS/PRG-SW,
which will be supplied until the end of December 2007.
6. MKTG TOOLS
In the file “Draft.zip“ you can find the draft pages which can be used in addition to the
technical catalogue to present the new range, while the file “Range choice.ppt” reports
some suggestions intended to create your local range and to choose the right
replacements when considering the old product range.
From February 2007 it will be available an English version of a leaflet in electronic and
paper format which can be used for local customization or direct use in the market and a
PowerPoint presentation of the range for internal and external training.
7. DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE FOR THE CUSTOMERS
In the file “Manuals.zip“ you can find only the English version of the instruction manuals
even if you will find in the BOL and ABB Library the manuals also in these languages:
German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. The TW1, TW2/10K and TWP
instructions are in English and are printed on one side of the products (TW1 and TWP)
because of the easy installation.
