PROPOSITION
1) Mr. Anirudh Singh was a renowned actor in the Shollywood film industry in Sindia. He
belonged to a middle-class family living in a small town named „Sapnaganj‟ in the
peripheries of the state of „Kihar‟. He was a man of knowledge and wisdom. He had a deep
passion for science and technology and thus chose engineering for his further academic
studies. He was always a top ranker in his university and his ideas and innovations never
failed to mesmerize his professors. He was a jovial man and never cared for what his peers
think of him. He always followed his own will and took his decision without any societal
pressures. One such decision that shook all his known ones was when he dropped his
engineering course just three months before the final exams. He was always fond of theatre
and acting and thus developed a deep zeal to pursue his career in acting.

2) He started off his career in 2012 as a struggling Television actor. Due to his immense talent
and acting skills, he was soon recognized as a budding „star face‟ in the industry. During his
journey in the television industry, he won many awards and praises. It was the result of his
hard-work that in 2014, he was launched on the big screen with his debut movie entitled
“Dosti”. His very first movie caught many eyes and unlike many other struggling artists, he
earned his fame. He was getting offers for various movies with some already established co-
stars. His dreams were almost fulfilling and he was enjoying his life.

3) Unlike many other fellow actors, he was rising solely due to his talent and skill. But no
matter how many praises he was getting, some stars who were, in fact, the products of
„Nepotism‟ („Nepo kids‟ hereinafter) in the industry were not liking it. He was always seen
as an outsider and was never treated like a colleague in the industry. He was hardly invited to
any „big starry parties‟ or talk shows. Some of the „Nepo kids‟ saw him as a potential
competitor in the industry and wanted to eliminate him from shollywood. On 25 March 2016,
Karma Productions, which is one of the biggest production houses in Sindia announced on
its social media handles that they are doing three films with Mr.Anirudh Singh in the
upcoming years. This news led to a huge craze in Anirudh‟s fans. In some of the interviews,

Anirudh also expressed his excitement in working with Karma Productions. However, later
when the trailers of these films released, people were shocked to see that in place of Anirudh,
some „Nepo kids‟ were doing the films. On being asked about this, the production house
announced in the media that Anirudh was undisciplined and because of his unprofessional
behavior he lost his films. Though Anirudh denied these allegations, but a stigma of being
undisciplined and unprofessional was cemented to his character. The „Nepo kids‟ and their
puppets in the media industry tried to demean Anirudh by publishing blind articles and blogs
on their platforms. A few times, some big producers, even some of the actors also refused to
sign a movie simply because Anirudh was in the lead role. Due to this reluctant behavior of
some „Nepo kids‟ toward Anirudh, many producers decided not to cast the newcomer star
Anirudh for their movies simply because they didn‟t want to lose the supports of the
established actors.

4) This treatment in the industry was pinching him but as the happy-go-lucky man Anirudh was,
he never let this alien treatment affect his career. He worked in almost eight movies after
that. He was building a huge fan base and was always known for his kind and compassionate
nature. He opened schools for the poor children and was also involved in many NGOs.

5) However, soon he started feeling that the industry is not accepting him. Many times, when he
was nominated for the “Filmy Masala Awards” or some other similar awards, he was never
honored with the same, even at times when he was the most deserving nominee for a
category. The constant hate articles and blogs at various platforms started to irk him.

6) In the beginning of 2020, his tensions and worries deepened due to the fact that his seven
signed movies were taken back by the producers without any genuine reason in just two
months. The rumors say that it was because his previous films were not earning much profit.
Thus to avoid any losses, the producers decided to take those movies back.

7) He was deeply depressed and tensed. He was receiving constant hate messages from
unknown people and was also irked by the interviewers who were trying to grab some

„Masala‟ from him. He refused to talk to his friends and family and was constantly worried
about his future.

8) In March 2020, the government of Sindia declared a nationwide lockdown due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, and consequently the film industry was also halted. Anirudh used to
live alone at his flat and the lockdown further intensified his loneliness. He was distressed
and depressed but was not ready to share it with anyone. Only a few of his loyal friends knew
about his condition and they always tried to boost his spirit. But every time when he would
decide to come out of this situation, the ongoing hate trends against him pushed him in the
deep traps of depression.

9) On the tragic day of June 1, 2020, the whole world was left in shock. He was found dead
hanging with the ceiling fan as he left the world by ending his own life. It was hard to believe
that an ever-smiling face could take such an extreme step. Many claimed it to be a planned
murder as no suicide note found in the flat. But the police investigation found it to be a
suicide.

10) The entire shollywood industry was shocked. All the actors started posting stories and
pictures of Anirudh all over social media, including those who tried to demean him in various
ways, showing their concern for the actor and his family. Many of these actors were trolled
over the social media for their „Fake Concern‟. “Boycott Nepo Kids” trend was started on the
social media which aimed at boycotting all the products of Nepotism in
the shollywood industry.

11) Meanwhile, a criminal complaint was filed under sections 109, 306, 504, and 506 of the
Sindian Penal Code, 1860, against some “Shollywood Biggies” which included Arman
Khan a renowned star of the industry along with some “Nepo Kids” viz. Aila Kapoor, Ram
Kanwar, and Karun Pawan and their „God Father‟- Taran Kohar, alleging them to have
created such distressful situations around the actor that drained his metal strength and

instigated him to commit to suicide. However, the Session Court acquitted all the accused for
the lack of evidence or witness to support the arguments.

12) After being acquitted by the Session Court, all the accused started to publicize their sad and
tragic situation after being linked in Anirudh‟s suicide case through their social media
handles. Seeing all this, some other self-made actors came forward and labeled all this as a
„Drama‟ to gain public sympathy and clear out their names from this tragic incident. Some
actors even revealed how they themselves had similar suicidal thoughts on being cornered by
the so-called superstars.

13) Now, keeping into mind the gravity of the matter and the involvement of big-screen popular
faces, a Special Leave Petition is filed in the Hon‟ble Supreme Court of Sindia under Article
136 of the Sindian Constitution challenging the verdict of the session court seeking an order
to give justice to the victim actor. The petition also seeks some guidelines by the Hon‟ble
Apex Court to regulate growing nepotism in the Shollywood Industry to avoid such suicidal
tendencies in the future. Considering the significance of the issue, a three-judge bench is
constituted by the Supreme Court of Sindia to decide the case.
