Anodes are all on one side, for larger parts there is not enough room to spin them. We clean anodes
every 24 hours to remove what I believe is stannous sulfide buildup.
2 power supplies setup in a hi/low pulse configuration, low current is 5.16A, will run for 45 sec, High
Current 9.39A (max) will run for 5 sec. We found this high low setup gets us more plating thickness with
less of a burn risk.
This is a new mix, where I removed about 12 gal/45L of the existing bath and replaced it with battery
acid, 12gal/45L. Results improved, added Polyethylene Glycol 20g every 30 minutes until things were
looking ok, didn’t want to over do it.
Issues:
Getting some burn, on edges, would like to be able to increase current density.
Getting whisker growth on edges, would like to minimize.
Stannous sulfide buildup on anodes is quite a bit, we clean then every 24 hours.
Pure sulfur is coming out of solution, gets on the bottom of the tank, inside the parts. It rinses
off but unsure is this is an issue, or just normal. I’m guessing it’s a byproduct of the Stannous
sulfide reaction. We filter the tanks as necessary and remove.
