30 MINUTES
Listening Task (10 marks)
Instructions: Listen to a conversation between Sarah and Peter who are discussing about the
trend of using e-books instead or regular textbooks in school and college. While listening,
answer the questions that follow.

1. What are the advantages of digital books / e-books based on Peter’s opinion?
[3 marks]
Advantages of digital books/ e-books based of Peter’s opinion is a digital form is
much easier for students to access it's very convenient that can carry most of the text
books in one and another one kind of tablet or one on their phones and access it
anywhere and it's easy the opposite easily transportable but also easily accessible
wherever you are we think it's also with technology improving you can change the
format of the reading that you're doing in the textbook and font sizes change and you
can highlight and and change text compared to textbooks which is not easy to carry
because it is heavy.

2. Sarah is mentioning about some of the disadvantages of using digital books or e-

books. What are the disadvantages mentioned? [3 marks]

Disadvantages of of using digital book or e books sarah mentioned is students if it's

on an electronic device they'll be more tempted to do other things other than what
they're supposed to be doing what their textbook as well as I see a problem for writing
in the book as far as notes although you can write notes in there it's hard to reference
back to them are hard to reference back certain pages. Because used electronic
textbooks in the past and found that for regular books as far as reading it's great but
text books it's very difficult in the class of some people have regular textbooks and
some people have electronic textbooks trying to figure out what page everyone is on
because if you have different text sizes then perhaps it'll be different page numbers
and it just makes it more difficult for trying to all be on the same page.  Here I can
kind of see your point.

3. From your point of view, which one will be suitable to be used in our local schools or
universities: e-books or regular books? Provide three (3) reasons to support your
answer. [4 marks]
Based on my points a regular book is best used at our local school or university
because regular books have some advantages over e-books, including that they have
the feel of a book that many readers love. you can hold it, turn the pages, and feel the
paper. also, for those who like to read as they fall asleep, paper books make a better
choice since there's no eye strain that comes with an electronic device or e-reader. the
second resond is regular books can also improve the language skills of students. By
reading different books students will be able to interact with people in their endemic
language. this is very useful when students go abroad for studies. If students know
different languages then they can make new friends and easily cognate with their
teachers. The lastly the reason is regular books can improve the Student’s ability to
think, and they are able to find the solution to problems. Reading books can builds the
understanding and awareness of students in different situation. Books make the
students self-effacing and compassionate and also boost the confidence of
Students. Reading books can enhance the imagination and creativity of Student’s and
increases positive thinking.
