Listening Task (10 marks)

Instructions: Listen to a conversation between ​Sarah and Peter who are discussing about
the trend of using e-books instead or regular textbooks in school and college. While
listening, answer the questions that follow.

1. What are the advantages of digital books / e-books based on Peter’s opinion?
[3 marks]
Based on Peter’s Opinion, he said that having a digital form is much easier for
students to access. Its very convenient for student. Next, having digital books is easily
transportable and easily accessible. Students can change the format of reading, font size
and highlight. Finally, digital ebooks contain more interactive material.

2. Sarah is mentioning about some of the disadvantages of using digital books or

e-books. What are the disadvantages mentioned? [3 marks]

The disadvantages mentioned by Sarah is students are tempted to do other things

other than what they are supposed to do. Next, they are having difficulty writing on
digital books. Moreover, some students are using text book while some other
students are using a digital books. So they are having difficulty trying to figure out
what pages because the format is different.

3. From your point of view, which one will be suitable to be used in our local
schools or universities: e-books or regular books? Provide three (3) reasons to
support your answer. [4 marks]
 Based on my opinion, e-books have more advantages than regular books. For
example, you can download many sources of articles while using e-books. Next, e-books are
never out of stocks because they are digital files. Finally,​They come with fun features like
sharing highlighted quotations on social media, looking up words in the dictionary as you
read, digital bookmarks, and much more.
