MRP type

You use the MRP type to assign the procedure to be used to plan a material and to control which
MRP parameters can be maintained for the material in the material master record. You enter the
MRP type in the material master record.

The following parameters of the MRP type are relevant for MRP:

The MRP procedure defines which of the following MRP types is to be used:

o MRP

o consumption-based planning (reorder point)

o MPS

There are basically three types/procedures of MRP, SAP uses

1. Consumption based planning: e.g: Re-order point planning (V1, V2, VB) forecast based
(VV) Time phased like R1, R2 etc

2. Standard Material Requirement Planning: (P1, P2, P3, P4, PD etc)

3. Master Production Scheduling: (M0, M1, M3, M2, M4 etc)

The following MRP types are defined in the SAP standard delivery:

 ND => no MRP

 PD => MRP

 VB => manual reorder point planning

 VM => automatic reorder point planning

 V1 => Automatic reorder point planning including external requirements

 V2 => Automatic reorder point planning without external requirements

 VV => forecast-based planning

MRP type is maintained in MRP1 view of the material master of the material
No Planning:

If you do not want to plan a material in MRP then maintain ND as MRP type then that
material is not planned in MRP.
Manual Reorder point planning:

In reorder point planning, procurement is triggered when the sum of plant stock and
firmed receipts falls below the reorder point
In manual reorder point planning, you define both the reorder level and the safety stock level
manually in the appropriate material master.

Reorder point is set as 500 in the material master and stock of the material is 100 as
shown in the below screen shot…as the stock is below reorder point during MRP
run system will create the procurement proposals
