Many HR leaders are still unsure about how to manage performance review during the
covid-19 pandemic. Should the organization abandon their current or upcoming
performance cycle, giye everyone the same rating or just continue with evaluations as
planned?

Generally there are some organizations have a clear work from home policy that has matured
through the years work from home but many are seeing this for the first time due to the
pandemic. Thus it will may difficult and challenging for this company to conduct evaluation
work from home for their employee. However, in my opinion during this covid-19 pandemic,
HR leaders should come with new performance appraisals that are suitable for employee that
work from home. This is because employee who work from home and employee who work at
workplace is two different situation. We cannot see how employee from home perform their
work especially when employee should work from home is sudden. It will be many
distraction when work from home since there is no really formal area that designated as a
work area. The home mode where children can interface with their parents freely intrudes
into work time especially if children cannot attend school. Therefore, HR leaders should
come with new evaluation by considering all aspect that are challenging for both employee
and the organization and come with strategy how to handle this problem. For examples HR
leader cannot evaluating performance of their employee based on how long an employee
takes to reply to an email because it can lead to the wrong conclusion. To give employee who
work from home valuable feedback, it’s important to gather input from workers and clients
who work directly with them. Therefore, HR leader can use 360 degree feedback that will
allows each individual to understand how their effectiveness as an employee, co-worker, or
staff member is viewed by others. It also gives HR leader richer perspective on their
employees’ performance.
