Christmas Cantata 2019

Narrator 1: It’s Christmas—a time to sing and rejoice.

Narrator 2: It’s Christmas—a time for family and friends.
1: It’s Christmas—a time to draw near to God.
2: Still marveled, as did those at the first Christmas, at the power and comfort held in these
most cherished words . .
1: Peace on earth and good will toward men.
2: God has made His peace . . . . . . His acceptance . . . . . . available to us through His Son.
1: It’s that simple yet amazing.
2: But those words were not only meant for Bethlehem two thousand years ago .
1: They are still relevant to us today because God still offers this Good news to everyone.
2: If you listen with your heart, you’ll hear it again.
1: Can you hear the Christmas bells?
2: Can you hear the call of Jesus?

SONG: Can you hear the Christmas Bells?

A Celtic Noel

Narrator 1: On a special night in Bethlehem . .

Narrator 2: . . .only a few people realized a King had arrived.

the newborn Messiah.
2: There was only a quiet welcome by two parents that realized they had witnessed the
glorious birth of a very special baby.

1: The baby the angel said would be called Jesus . . .

2: . . . the one who would be the Savior of the World.

1: Today, gifts have been a big part of our Christmas celebration, and some may wonder if
the heart of Christmas and the original gift of heaven have been lost in all that Christmas
has become.
2: The simplicity of a baby born in a manger reminds us the true gift of Christmas. That
the heart of Christmas...God’s heart...was first shown through the giving of a gift. It was
the gift of heaven and came in the form of Jesus.
1: It wasn’t given because we deserved it, but because God loved us that much. It started on
the first Christmas Eve—the night that love came down from God Himself.

SONG: A Song in the Air

Sing Gloria, Sing Noel

THE OFFERTORY - CCNK Pupils

Narrator 2: The heart of Christmas is really about the greatest gift God could ever have
given us–Jesus. Scripture tells us that God loved the world so much that He gave His
one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him may not be lost but have eternal life.
Jesus willingly left His royal throne in heaven to live with us, and sacrifice Himself on
our behalf so we could live with God forever. It is only fitting for us to thank Him and
fall at His feet in worship.
Narrator 1: Scripture says, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He
will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and
be their God”(Revelation 21:3).

SONG: Jesus the Light of the World

Christmas Sanctus

Narrator 1: Many thousands of years have passed, and many millions of voices have shared
the famous words...but the story remains unchanged.
Narrator 2: It is as vibrant and alive as it was that night long ago in Bethlehem. It is still
changing lives, just as it did when the shepherds first gathered around a simple manger.
1: And now the Christmas story is your story.
2: There is a world waiting to hear the story.

1: For Jesus said, “‘As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you’” (John 20:21).How shall
they believe if they have not heard?
2: So this year, give Christmas away. Go and tell...
1: ...go and tell...
2: ...go and tell that Jesus Christ is born!
1: ...go and tell that Christmas is here!

SONG: Christmastime

Narrator 1: Now, may we run with the shepherds to proclaim the story to the nations: Joy to the
world! The Lord is come! Glory to God in the highest!
Narrator 2: May we join the heavenly chorus and sing with the angels: Joy to the world! The
Savior reigns! Glory to God in the highest!
Narrator 1: May we request everybody to stand and let us sing Joy to the World!
