1-How do you think United Airlines should have handled the recent string of incidents? Do
you think that United Airlines was within its power to have removed these people from the
flights? Why or why not?
I think that United Airlines should handle the recent string of incident In a better way they
should be more flexible and interact more with their customers to avoid incidents. I don’t think
that United Airlines have the power to remove those people from the flights because every
customer deserve to be treated with the highest level of service and the deepest sense of
dignity and respect.
2-What are the pros and cons of having a bureaucratic organizational structure for an airline?
Do you think the pros and cons are justified for United Airlines and that they should keep the
structure they have? Why or why not?
A bureaucratic organization is a form of management that has a pyramidal command structure.
The bureaucratic organization is very organized with a high degree of formality in the way it
operates and have many cons and pros. The issue of a bureaucratic organizational structure is
inflexible rules and regulations for example incident happened at United airlines where two
teenagers who were wearing leggings for their flight from Minneapolis to Denver. They were
stopped by the gate agent and not allowed to board for violating the United Airlines travel perk
program. These travel perk passes hinge on a requirement for users of the passes to dress
themselves so that the airline is presented in a favorable light. Advantage of a bureaucratic
structure is hierarchy of authority characterized by downward delegation of authority. Each
superior exercises control over his subordinates.
No, I don’t think UA should keep the structure they have. Because they have face many
problems with bureaucratic structure in addition Airline Company should have a functional
organizational structure because is more flexible and an airline company will interact with
several culture.
3-What do you think UA should do in the future? Do you have any suggestions for
enhancements or improvements to the United Airlines organizational structure? Would you
consider restructuring? Why or why not?
I think that United Airlines should change her organizational structure or make her regulation
and rules more flexible. I suggest United Airlines improve her organizational structure. Yes I
consider restructuring because United Airlines need to be better organized for its present
future.
