KUMON §iiieaeesiamenua by Bingo Aki If your child understands and enjoys matching activities, then this book will build on that foundation. Use this book to help your child develop his or her concentration and cognitive abilities while learning about their favorite animals, flowers, insects, and more! Please write the date and your child’s name on each page. It your child can write, please encourage him or her to do so. If your child cannot write, please write for your child Circle the matching objects. If your child is not accustomed to using a pencil, a crayon or marker pen is @ good substitute in the beginning. There are between four and twenty matching objects on each page. Your child must find the matching objects—for example, he or she can match a pair of giraffes, a pair of elephants, and so on, When your child has ‘matched all the objects, he or she has successfully finished the page. Itis okay if your child does not make a perfect circle around each object. {tis most important that your child matches identical objects and enjoys the activity. This book doesn't include an answer key because this book’s primary {goal is to allow your child to experience the process of matching, If your child is having difficulty, he or she should take time to finish the exercise without regard to his or her time record. You can also help your child if he Or she is having trouble completing the page. The name of each object is written under each picture. However, your child does not need to read or say the words. When he or she is finished, you may want to say, “This is a giraffe” while pointing to the word. Please time your child's work and keep a log. The list of times is shown in the upper right comer of each page. The categories are based on the time it takes to complete the exercise. Don't be concemed if your child takes a lot of time. It doesn't matter how fast a child completes the exercise-only how much he or she enjoys it. By keeping a log, you will probably notice a lot of progress in your child's ‘concentration and cognitive abilities. Offer lots of praise for his or her accomplishments! Gur children can’t be expected to develop a creative mind solely by attending scheol. Creativity is something that needs to be encouraged at home: as well—and the earlier, the better. Imagine academic ability is like a car. It will take children to places they need to go to in life. Creative ability, however, is like a jet airplane. Creativity will propel children into a whole difterent stratosphere. it will allow them to become as free as binds flying in the sky. ‘So, how do we develop creativity? And how does it combine with work? In my case, it's by simply doing and leaming from my mistakes. | take action without waiting for inspiration. Te begin, | prepare my pencil and paper and launch on a writing spree. | don’t think; | just let my hands go. | work without resting, It seems that the brain spontaneously makes discoveries simply by thinking about a certain thing for a while. The brain seeks and ideas come. That is inspiration—the discovery of ‘something new. In order to develop creativity, concentration is just as important as inspiration. To use our earlier 6 & PPP re analogy, a jet airplane can zoom thousands of miles above the earth, but first it must gain enough speed to lift off from the runway. One of the world's greatest inventors, Thomas Edison, said, “Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” The same can be said for creativity | created these baoks te help children develop concentration skills and cognitive ability. All your child needs to take advantage of these books is @ pencil. In doing these exercises, children will improve their concentration, and train their brains to seek and discover. While using these books, children should try to improve their skills by decreasing the amount of time it takes to do the exercises. They will need to do the exercises over and over again, and strive to eliminate errors and mental blocks. These books represent my inspiration and creativity. | believe that by using them, your child will likewise develop his or her own powers of concentration, cognitive ability, inspi finally, creativity. To parents * Time how long it takes for your child to finish each page and fill in your child's log below. * Please compare your child's record at the beginning of the workbook to his or her time at the end. You might notice your child is becoming faster at finishing his or her work. ‘When your child has finished each page, please offer lots of praise. squirrel elephant giratte squirrol elephant giratte ) sitio re es pena mn elephant squirrel elephant giratie y squirrel squirrot elephant squirrat elephant giratte giratte strawberry cucumber cucumber ‘green popper ‘green pepper strawberry tomato slag beotie + ant ', vf grasshopper stag beetle elephant y squirrel °@ 8 panda Exploring the Zoo (Matching 6) Circle the matching animals. > &) 20 seconse GW pata 1 mine ea Ve11 9008 Satistactory wahin 40 seconds waitin 2 Perfect tthin 10 soconds 3d finn 1S seconds SS Bia seanse WY win socecnss WE Notre tmndes NAME TIME 4 crocodile T tortoise i ; - 44 elephant giratte z S ‘green pepper tomato ‘corn grape es cucumber cucumber strawberry strawberry é S tomato ‘green pepper ticket ant stag beetle : = (ee ee : A Tita scene TB 20 scents FR Nitin inte Exploring the Zoo Bag eee aerate fi eee (Matching 8) SB iit seconds _ AY itso seconds ee none meats : DATE NAME TIME Circle the matching animals. i im “ end etophant tortoise 44h ©) | rate squire mole guinea pig seg F at 4 oie oat guinea pig = : Mrs CO e hee EP hints Exploring the Zoo eeicaen ABs 2 teas we Sper (Matening 12) BS Se somos WY caciarinime Re noe tersrintes ¥ Cineie Tee ariel DATE NAME TIME AR s y = coon 4 si tortoise ~ “ me a P| * me panda —_ 3 A (on *e crocodile oo y=, ° TA horse gorilla ae mole ome elephant yi | > @ = re) BA ° uinea oo irate sunea pg cow guinea pig gorilla ] 0 = ° a & ~ ” ae al rape meio cabba ‘eggplant a green pepper banana cherry ae eS ‘Bee tomato -_ pineapple strawberry ‘melon ‘corn ‘cucumber eggplant ostrich sparrow punch A wie uo So soconts SB ete ite cestent ee cence Oe eS wan Good FB iki co seaman _ RY Sater sinaee : stan strawberry tomato My & caoniant eveumber pineapple pei © banana strawberry cabbage grape . —- ce ‘green pepper potato ‘cucumber Pineapple com cherry water strider centipede rhinoceros beetle bee firey butterfly cricket veator sider locust spider grasshopper long-homned beetle stag beetle - bee dragontly firefly ccentipede a a= iret cucumber asparagus ” Be & -_ eggplant 2 ren popper —_ com potato cucumber grape v e rape peech weeny v eo wk ~ ~ & = = 7) e me = ” - a 8 & cabbage ‘eggplant asparagus bo} cherry Potato Mito veconis TS 2 itor FR hii ies 2h Rr eOtaconds ADV rirses Be winnie SB AE nine WF cinema FE tertiles 0*%se 28 Leg i - @ ‘com ‘cabbage ‘onion com long-horned beetle i me & katydid / . mole cricket centipede < - sq : scorpion stag beetle thinocoros beetle x lo # © = 4 rhinoceros beetle long-horned beetle = ’ K spider ¥ / stag beetle ian katydid centipede ete ad @ = be : ad woe Thar Ok pot on S - : ‘sea bream = @ ., ae - % sy = 7 . ‘spider stich dandelion — jack sea bream drag +r ~« sas —- en sparrow giratte turkey chrysanthemum é rhinoceros beetle X eagle opted salmon ey al atyaid Mm ‘elephant —> ® asparagus } pear salvia squirrot ‘mole cricket in ~ ~ ‘chrysanthemum, giratte ° Yn * e asparagus ' : i é Mm elephant rhinoceros beetle ANIMALS Fox MPA ata nro gay tat haa poi mc Gm enw al port urd Pato an by ‘he uate stor weno at 38 pounds (6 uogans) enn er has ron he re tenet te neo hte Giratte mammal (warm-blooded anal wih avery lng neck, Hoos ‘and dark brow patches oo He coat eto tae ort ‘mammal. tives in Ate. rane fg TE an tr tt ct cn Hee marian nom ce ms fate ane nae rm ‘ent tne nana ty tie not reteea he ace reaaaeaeat Stop be uca eens es sgt song Ii nh nge l eten ‘Span su oseron nl sy eae | favo [ia wor wn an tc vt slim yp a ah oe Seowoymeng aarp ftinoenc srow Pheer mn ne Per sre tclectoaniesreonigerd Sevtinnse Se acer hte Verna Tiger tha largest member of the cat fami.
