Bedroom beautification is
still a goal, though. A frivolous
response to a grave crisis, no
doubt, but it’s something I
share with many lockdown
shoppers. The larger interiors
retailers have seen a surprising
hike in sales of bed linen.
The usual tasteful suspects
— crisp Egyptian cottons at the
White Company, muted linen
sheets and duvet sets by Piglet,
Loaf and Volga Linen — are
selling well. What’s new is a
passion for pattern. Buyers are
choosing jazzy prints as an
