Job title: shift manager

Summary of job:
Managers lead shifts every week, making sure customers get a fast, accurate, friendly experience
every visit. A Shift Manager provides leadership to crew and other managers during a shift to
ensure great Quality, Service and Cleanliness to customers. Shift Managers perform a variety of
tasks, which may include planning for each shift, monitoring performance during the shift, taking
action to ensure the team is meeting McDonald's standards, monitoring safety, security, and
profitability, and communicating with the next Shift Manager to help prepare him/her to run a
great shift, too.

Job duties and responsibilities:


 Manage people:
To manage people problems if any or any complaint so help them.
 Manage guest:
If some guest are to arrive then make good arrangements and make sure every things are
done according to them.
 Follow up on quality standards& procedure at staff:
Follow the standards of quality and procedure at the staff that are give as a responsibility
. so it is the duty to fulfill them.
 Food Safety :
Check on the hygiene factor that the food is hygiene and healthy
 Internal Communication:
Communication with clients and boss internally with the organization reporting them
about things.
 Operations Opening or Closing Shifts:
Keeping a schedule that what time a shift is open and close and the shift should reach on
time.
 Training:
Training the people working under you the how the task have to be performed.

Essential requirement and qualifications:


 Communication skills:
How to communicate with people as a customer to be polite and give respect.
 MS office:
Should know how to work on ms office for documentation.
 Education at least masters
 Experience (does not matter any experience but you should have good communication
skills.)
 Motivate employees working under
 Decision making

Who the role reports to?


The job holder reports to the branch manager.

Q) How is the job contributing to the strategy of the organization?

Mcdonalds is using intensive growth strategy to support continued business development and
expansion .A second assistant manager is also a shift in charge in different shifts so his roll
contributes in all operation of business. So the manager focus to have customer attention and
loyality so they can successfully expand the business

Q) Is the position necessary to the achievement of the organizations


goal?
As the second assistant manager is also a shift in charge in different shifts so his roll
contribution in all operation of business s this position is important to achievement of the
organization goals.

Q) What background information was used to develop the


questionnaire?
We developed the questionnaire by knowing that what a shift managers does then we thought
what questions can be asked to analysis this job.

Q) Apart from questionnaire what other means of gathering data were


used?
We had some help from the McDonalds website to know how things goes in the organization the
rest we interviewed the shift manager in McDonalds f-9 Islamabad.

Q) How can the JD increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the job?
When there will be a check and balance on the requirements and the right person is hired then
when he/she will fulfill the duties the organizational goals will be achieved the employee
working under the shift manger will be moniter and will perform quality work which is the
important thing.

Q) Do you think that the job that you have analyzed is challenging for the
people performing it. Does it need to be redesign? How?

I think after analyzing this job that the shift manger are happy performing their
duties in the same way they are. They are satisfied with the way the are currently
performing the task so I think there is no need to redesign the job.
