23. Back Again

Use the Matching Deck.

This trick is done behind your back! A card is selected and returned behind your back and it is found in an
usual manner.

Place the deck behind your back and ask someone to remove any card, remember it and replace it. Hold
the deck behind your back, shuffle and cut it for a moment, spread the cards on the table and reveal that
you have not only found his card, but reversed it in the deck.

Secretly turn over the bottom card of the deck before beginning the trick. Hold the cards face down
behind your back, spreading them apart and ask someone to take a card. Be careful not to show the
bottom card. After he removes a card, turn towards him to give him further instructions. While doing so,
turn the deck over secretly behind your back. Now tell him to place his card back in the deck. The trick is
that all the cards are face up with the exception of the top card. Be careful not to spread the cards or
separate them.

Again turn toward him and tell him you are going to shuffle and cut the deck behind your back. Secretly
take the top card and turn it over and then turn the entire deck over. You can now cut and shuffle the deck
according to your skill. If you are afraid of dropping them, simply flip the ends of the cards a few times for
sound effects. Bring the cards in front of you and spread them on the table. The chosen card will be face
up and you have apparently worked a miracle.

24. It's Gone

Use the Matching Deck and 4 double faced cards with different cards on each side.

Have the double faced cards at the face of the deck. Turn the deck face up and deal the four double faced
cards onto the table, being careful not to expose their other sides. Spread the cards and ask someone to
think of one of the cards without telling you which one he has selected. Square up the four cards and then
pass the rest of the deck to the person who chose the card. As you do so, secretly turn over the packet of
four cards. Spread the four cards (with their other sides showing) to a second spectator and ask the first
person to name the card he chose. Ask the second spectator if he sees the card. Of course, the answer is
"No." Ask the first person to look through the deck to find his chosen card. It has miraculously returned to
the deck.

25. Turn Up Surprise

From the Trick Deck use 3 of Spades one side and 8 of Hearts on the other. Also use the Matching Deck
with the 8 of Hearts and the 3 of Spades removed.

To prepare for this trick arrange the cards face down so as the double faced card is the 3rd from the
bottom and the 3 of Spades is showing amongst the backs.

Now, before your spectator, spread the cards face up on the table to show all the cards facing up. Gather
the cares, turn them over and have someone pick a card. Be careful not to expose the face up card. Have
him remember the card and place it on top of the deck face down. Cut the deck once again. Begin dealing
the cards one at a time on the table face down.

When you come to the face up card announce that this card has magically marked the position of the

chosen card. Begin dealing four cards starting with the face up card as number one card. Turn over the
last card dealt. It will be the chosen card.

26. Mind Reading Trick

From the Trick Deck use a double back card and the double face card.

The magician shows two cards and asks someone to think of one of the
cards. He is able to point out the correct card.

Hold the cards all illustrated. Turn the cards over to show the other side.
Ask someone to think of one of the cards. Place both cards behind your
back. Put the double back card in your pocket and say that the other card which is behind your back is the
card they picked. Now ask them to name the card and carefully bring out the double face card showing
only the side of the card they had selected.

27. Mystic Seven

Use the Matching Deck.
Set up two piles, both face down. One pile has the four sevens; the other has seven cards.
A sealed envelope is handed to someone and he is asked to place it on either one of the two piles. When
finished the envelope is opened to reveal a prediction which reads, "You have chosen the Seven pile."

28. The Joker Knows

Use the Joker who is holding a playing card. Have the 3 of Clubs on top of the deck.

Place the special Joker face up on the table and give the deck with the 3 of Clubs on top a riffle shuffle,
leaving the 3 of Clubs on top. Ask someone to insert the face up Joker into the deck. Pick up the deck and
spread cards from the top until you reach the Joker. Place these top cards on the table in a pile, put the
Joker to the side, and place the remaining cards on top of the first packet of cards crosswise. Ask the
spectator to turn over the Joker to see which card he is holding. Then have the spectator lift off the top
packet of cards and turn over the top card of the bottom packet. Both cards will be the 3 of Clubs.

29. Magic Switch Perfected

Use 4 of Hearts with one pip missing and 4 of Clubs with only one pip
from the trick deck, one paper bag, and the 4 of Clubs and 4 of Hearts
from the Matching Deck.

All the cards can be examined when the trick is finished.

Before beginning the trick, place the real four in your pocket. Hold the
cards as illustrated (fig.1) showing two 4s and 2 blanks. Place the cards in
a paper bag. Remove the two fours as illustrated, so they look like blanks.
You take the blanks out of the paper bag, put them in your pocket. Now
remove the real fours and place them on the table and remove the two real
blanks from the bag.

30. Jumping Joker

Use three face blank cards and the joker with blank back from the trick deck and a joker from the
matching deck. Keep the normal joker in your pocket.

Hold the cards as 3 blank cards and one joker from your left to right. Square up the cards and turn them
over. Take the top card and turn it face up and put it on the bottom of the stack. Take the top card and
without turning it over, put it on the bottom of the stack. Fan the cards to show two face up and two face
down cards. Remove the two face blank cards. Ask which of the remaining cards is the joker. Turn over

the one they point to. Show them they are wrong. Mix the two cards face down letting them pick again.
Finally turn over both cards showing that the joker has vanished. Reach into your pocket and pull out the
real joker.

31. Double Location

Use the Matching Deck and 2 double backed cards.

This trick allows you to force a predicted cared. Place the card you wish to force in the middle of the deck
with a face up card directly above it and a second face up card below it. Square up the deck and then
place the 2 double backed cards on top of the face down deck.
Hand the top (double backed) card to some one and ask that he insert the card into the middle of the deck
while you hold the deck face up. Then hand the other double backed card to someone else to insert in the
same manner. Turn the deck face down and spread it out. One card will be between 2 reversed cards
which, of course, matches the prediction you made before starting the trick.

32. The 3 1/2 Of Clubs

You can use this card to put a little humor into the game during a friendly game, - just purloin one card
and palm in the gag card during your deal, or start the game with the card already in the deck. Same
applies for using the other gag cards.

A nice little effect can be obtained by forcing the 3 1/2 of Clubs, then telling another spectator he can
determine the value of the card by rolling the die. When he rolls the die, have him total the value of the
top and bottom spots and divide by two, which will give him the value of the selected card. Since the
opposite sides of a die will always total 7, when he divides by 2 his answer will be 3 1/2. When spectator
gives you his "total" there will be a laugh. And when the other spectator names his card, the 3 1/2 of
Clubs, there will be a bigger laugh.

33. Tree Of Diamonds

From the trick deck use the "Tree of Diamonds" card and 6 of Clubs with 3 of Diamonds printed on it.
Take any card from the matching deck (say 9 of Spades).

Display the cards with Tree of Diamonds card hidden behind the 9 of Spades. Now the spectator can see 6
of Clubs, 3 of Diamonds and 9 of Spades in a row. Square up the cards and turn them over. Deal them in a
row from left to right and ask him to turn over the centre card. To his surprise the card has changed into
"Tree of Diamonds"! Take out the missing 3 of Diamonds from your pocket which you have already kept
in your pocket before the performance.

34. Y-Not

Use the card with the letter "Y" printed on it.

Have a slip of paper stating "You will choose "Y", sealed in an envelope. Have the "Y" card ready for the
force cut. Ask someone to cut the deck. Have him note and remember the chosen card, which is, of
course, the "Y". Return it to the deck. Ask the person to concentrate on the selected card. Explain that
you are having problems receiving the image, so you ask what card was chosen. The person will answer
"Y". You say, "Because I need to know. Now what is it?" Again he'll respond "Y". You say, "Well, you
don't have to be difficult. Now what is it?" Again you will get the answer "Y". Finally say, "I don't think
this will work, so open the envelope that is on the table." This will show everyone that it was a gag, and
that you did magically know which card would be picked.

35. Find It Yourself

Use a double backed and double faced card.

Have the double backed card on the top of the deck and the double faced one on the face of the deck.

3 of 7 2/12/2016 11:16 AM
Marked & Fake deck Tricks file:///C:/Documents and Settings/Zubin/Desktop/M+F Card/M+FD 02.html

Spread the cards in a fan for a free selection of a card. Ask the person to look at and remember the card.
As he does so, turn the deck face up and openly deal the face card (the double faced card) off to the right.
Turn the deck face down and ask the spectator to cut the deck in half. Then have him replace his chosen
card face down on top of the half with the double backed card. Then have the other half placed on top,
which places the double back next to the chosen card, near the middle of the deck. Have the spectator cut
the deck twice more. This will bring the chosen card and the double back near the middle of the deck.
Announce that the spectator will find the card by himself. Ask him to cut the deck. As he lifts the top half
of the deck, you insert the double faced card to "mark the cut". Have the cut cards replaced. Then pick up
the deck, turn it face up, and spread it on the table. The spectator will see a reversed card (the double
back) directly next to his chosen card. He found it himself.

36. Pick The Suits

Use the double faced aces and four double backed cards.

Lay out the four aces and explain that you wish to test someone's psychic powers. Hold one of the double
backed cards and ask which of the "matching aces" you are holding. Use that double backed card to
partially cover the named ace. Repeat this with the remaining double backed cards. To show that the
spectator's score is perfect, pick up each two card group and casually turn it over to display what appears
to be a perfect match. You are really showing the other side of the double faced ace and the other side of
the double backed card.

37. Shifting Fours

Use the 4 of Diamonds with the 4 of Clubs index and the 4 of Clubs with the 4 of Diamonds index and a
regular Joker.

Fan the 3 cards with the joker in front, the 4 of Diamonds with its 4 of Clubs index exposed, and then the
4 of Clubs with its 4 of Diamonds index exposed. Hold the fan towards the audience and explain that you
will place the 4 of Diamonds off to your right. Lower the fan so the faces are not visible and move the
card they think is the 4 of Diamonds off to the right (really the 4 of Clubs with the 4 of Diamonds index)
Raise the fan back up and say you will place the 4 of Clubs off to your left. Again lower the cards so the
faces are not visible and place the card they think is the 4 of Clubs off to your left. Explain that the joker
is your magical assistant for this trick. Just touch the back of the two face down cards with the joker. Then
lift up the 2 cards, covering the faked corners. It will seem that the cards have switched places.

38. Sweet Sixteen

Use the 8 blue double cards from the trick deck and 8 other cards from the matching deck.

Before beginning the trick place the regular cards face down on top of the 8 double back cards. Holding
the packet face down, deal eight cards face up on the table.

Pick up these cards, place them face up on the cards in your hand and mix or shuffle them. Spread them
on the table and you will have what appears to be eight face up and eight face down cards mixed together.
When your back is turned ask someone to turn face down any face up card and remember it. He is then to
gather up the cards and hand them to you behind your back. After he has done so, turn around, secretly
turning over the deck behind your back. Bring the deck to the front and spread the cards on the table. All
of the cards will be face down except for the chosen card.

39. Pip Card

Use the card with 5 diamond pips on one side and 2 pips on the other from the trick deck.
Magician shows a playing card with a diamond shape pip on one side and six pips on the other. When he
turns the card there will be three pips on one side and four pips on the other!

4 of 7 2/12/2016 11:16 AM
Marked & Fake deck Tricks file:///C:/Documents and Settings/Zubin/Desktop/M+F Card/M+FD 02.html

To show there is only one pip on one side, hold the card facing the audience covering the lower pip with
your left fingers. It looks as if there is only one pip. (Actually this side has got two pips). While showing
the back of the card as six, cover the blank space in between two pips with your right fingers and turn the
card. To show three pips cover the blank space at the bottom of the card at the back with your left fingers
and turn the card and to show four pips on the other side cover the pip at the right side centre with your
right fingers and turn the card. (All this is an illusion. Audience will assume that there is a pip in the place
where you cover it with your fingers.)

40. Trick Cards

Use the 3 six hearts cards, plus the 6 hearts from the matching deck which you put in your pocket and the
special card with 3/4/5 hearts printed at one end and 5/6/7 Spades at the other end.

Place the 3 six of hearts behind the fake card and one 6 of Hearts in front of the trick card. Hold them in
left hand so it looks like 3/4/5 and 6 Hearts in a line-up. Now push the 6H up quickly to close the cards
together. Turn the packet end for end and spread them as before to show the Spades end of the trick card.
The three 6H cards are neatly squared behind the trick card all through these moves.

So, next you push the 6H upwards until it is squared with the other cards. Turn the packet over so backs
are upwards, and lay the cards face down in a row. Pick up the trick card and put it in the same pocket
where you put the 6H card.

Ask which card did I put into my pocket? Was it 3, 4 or 5? Take the 6H from the pocket and show the
face. Slide the 6H under each card in the row or tap the cards with the 6H. Turn over each card in the row
to show they are now ALL 6 of Hearts!

41. Pick It

Use the "IT" card.

Have the IT card on top of the deck, ready for the force cut. Show the deck to be normal, making sure not
to expose the IT card. Turn the deck face down, and give it a riffle shuffle leaving the IT card on top.

Explain that because you have magical powers no matter which card a person names, you can make him
cut to "IT". Ask someone to name any card and have him cut the deck (the force cut.) Then ask, "will you
be impressed if you cut to "IT"?. Whatever the answer, have him pick up his "freely" chosen card, and ask
if that is "IT". (Be ready for the groans.)

42. Vanishing Ink

Use one face blank card and a card with 10 of Hearts on one side and 10 of Clubs on the other from the
trick deck and the matching deck.

Hold the pack face up in your left hand so as the 10 of Hearts is on the top. Line up the 10 of Clubs with
the blank card so that it appears to be one card.

To show the trick place the 10 of Clubs face down over the regular 10 of Hearts. Take out the top card
and show that it has turned blank. Audience will think that the 10 of Club has changed into blank.

43. You Are Confused

Use a double faced card from the trick deck and 9 regular cards from the matching deck.

Hand the spectator five of the normal cards, while you hold five cards fanned face up, the double face
card being second from the right end of the fan. Tell the spectator he is to duplicate your every action.
Square up the cards, holding the packet face up. Put the top card on the bottom, face down, the next top
card to the bottom face up and the next top card to the bottom, face down. Both of you then spread your

cards, which are the same. Tell him 'not bad.' Square up the cards again. Put the top card to the bottom,
face down, then turn the top card face down and turn the packet over. Yours are pointing face up while he
has one reversed. This may be repeated.

44. A Hat And Card Change

We will say the double face card is the 8 of Hearts on one side and 3 of Spades on the other. Have this on
the bottom of the deck so 3 of Spades side is face out. Next to it have the regular 8 of Hearts from the
deck. The regular 3 of Spades of the deck is placed near the centre of the deck reversed.

Remove the two cards from bottom of deck. Place them in a hat. Reach into the hat and remove the
double face card so the 8 of hearts side is showing (Now the 8 of Hearts is remaining in the hat but the
audience will think that it is 3 of Spades). Vanish this card by your own method.

after the vanish, walk over to the hat and remove the card to show that it is 8 of Hearts. Where is the 3 of
Spades? Spread the cards in the deck to show that it is there reversed. This makes a novel combination.

45. The Spelling Bee

Use the matching deck. To prepare, deal the four aces on the table face up. One top of these, place the
four two's, then the four three's and so on in order, until you have used the entire deck. Finally, place the
two jokers on top of the Kings and turn the deck over.

To perform, have someone cut the deck several times and return it to you. Go through the deck until you
find the jokers, explaining that they must be removed before doing the trick. The jokers will divide the
deck. The kings will be on one side of the jokers, the Aces on the other. Remove Jokers then put the
packets together so that the Kings are one the bottom and Aces on top. To the audience you have simply
removed the Jokers and placed the deck as it was.

Now spell A-C-e, dealing one card for each letter on the table, turning over the last card dealt, revealing
an ace. Spell T-W-O as before, revealing a two. Continue spelling T-H-R-E-E, F-O-U-R,...
T-E-N, J-A-C-K, Q-U-E-E-N and finally K-I-N-G.

46. Any Number

Use the matching deck.

Before beginning the trick, secretly place the Ace of Spades face down on top of the deck.

State that you will make the Ace of Spades appear at any number named. As an example, if the number is
ten, deal ten face down cards on the table, one on top of the other. Turn over the last card dealt and look
surprised when it is not the Ace of Spades. Place the packet of cards back on the deck and ask your friend
to try it. Sure enough, his tenth card will be the Ace of spades. It will work on any number your friend
chooses.

47. Pocket Trick

Use the matching deck and a rubber band. Before beginning the trick, secretly place the 4 Kings in your
pocket in this order: Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs. Put a rubber band around the deck and put it in
the same pocket.

To begin the trick, remove a deck of cards from your pocket, remove the rubber band and have someone
shuffle the deck until he is satisfied that the cards are mixed. Take the deck from him and place it back in
your pocket minus the rubber band.

Ask someone to name a kind. After he does so, simply reach in and find the King from the group you have
memorized.

48. The Color Change

Use the double face card (7 of Spades on one side and 2 of Hearts on the other) from the trick deck and
the matching deck.

Take the 7 of Spades from the matching deck and place the faked card on that so the two cards held as
one show as the 7 of Spades. Have a red Ace on the face of the pack, which is held face up in the left
hand as for dealing. The print brush card (two cards as one) is held in the right hand, face down with the
thumb on the face of 7 of Spades at the lower end, and the forefinger tips on the back of the card. Draw
the paint brush over the face card of the pack once or twice, and finally leave it on the face of the pack
nicely squared over the red Ace, by releasing the end of the card under right thumb, and draw the 7 of
Spades over the face of the pack, the 2 of Hearts coming into view with startling effect, just as if it were
being applied with a paint brush. The original 7 of Spades can now be passed for examination.

49. Lucky Thirteens

Use the matching deck.

Before beginning the trick, remove the 6 of Spades and 7 of Clubs and place them face up on the bottom
of the deck. Also remove the 6 of Clubs and 7 of Spades and put them face down on top of the deck.

When performing turn over the top two cards and call attention to their total, which is 13. Hand them to
someone and ask him to insert them face down anywhere in the face down deck. After he does, cut the
deck in half and complete the cut. Then spread the cards face down on the table revealing that not only
are they together again, but they are face up in the deck. Very few people will ever notice that they are a
different pair of cards.

50. One Ahead

Use the matching deck.

Secretly place the King of Hearts on top of the deck before beginning the trick. Place the deck on a table
and ask someone to cut the deck anywhere making two piles of cards. You know that on which pile is the
king of Hearts. However place your hand on the other pile and say "King of Hearts," picking it up without
showing it to your audience.

Now place your hand on the pile in which the King of Hearts is kept and announce the name of the card
you just took from the other pile. Pick up this card, hold it with the other card, toss both of them face up
on the table. It will appear that you have named each card before you picked them up. Do this trick
rapidly and you'll fool the wise ones.
