“External and Internal Organization”

Part 1: Introduction

In order to lead large-scaled change program or to efficiently guide the process of

innovation in an organization, practitioner are the designated people to do it. There

practitioners comprises of two groups, the internal and external. Both groups have

certain role in organization development which offers professional service.

Part 2: Summary of the Topic

The term organization development practitioner refers to at least two set of people,

internal, external and people specializing in organization development as a

profession are the most obvious group of practitioners them tend to share common

training, skills and experience in the social process of organization.

Internal practitioners are already members of the organization which initiate change

in his/her own work group. These people have the advantage in data collection for

they already know the culture of organization. They are familiar to the norms and

probably behave in accordance to it. Internal practitioners take the main role in

communication in most cases.

External practitioners is the opposite of the internal, it is someone not associated

with the client system but they have greater freedom operation than the internal

practitioners. These people see things from a different view point and from tite

position of objectivity. External practitioner has a disadvantage in terms of data


collection for they are not familiar with the system and don’t have sufficient

knowledge of its technology.

Part 3 Recommendation:

The organization development practitioner must break through the barriers of

bureaucracy and organizational politics to develop innovation, creativity, teamwork

and trust within the organization. In order for them to provide effective service.

Part 4 Conclusion:

Both internal and external practitioner plans a significant role in the organization.

Which aims for modification and innovation of the organization? The application of

organizational development in real world work institutions empowers organizational

leaders to make the necessary and appropriate decisions to resolve organizational 

identify internal and external problems that are impacting an organization. Having

knowledge of the various organizational development models such as the

sociotechnical- system model is essential to an organizations successful

implementation of possible solutions. On the other hand, when integrating

organizational development with human resources and the competency model an

organization is able to streamline its human resources approach and maximize their

organizational benefits in an effort to increase overall employee performance.
