TABLECLOTH

How much fabric will I need?


To make a tablecloth for a table seating 4–6 people you will need 225 cm
of fabric. Most metre fabrics are now sold in 150 cm widths.
You will also need:

A tape measure, iron, thread and a sewing machine.

with a stitch length of 3 mm. Sew the double hem in
place.

This is what you do:

1. Fold over 1 cm of fabric on each long side. Then fold


again so that you have a double hem of 1 cm. Press with

TABLE RUNNER

How much fabric will I need?


To make a runner for a table seating 4–6 people you will need 225 cm of
fabric. Most metre fabrics are now sold in 150 cm widths, so, if you wish, you can
make more runners, napkins or placemats with what’s left over.
2. Fold over 1 cm on each long side. Then fold again so

For 6 napkins you will need 100 cm of fabric. Most metre fabrics are now sold in

How much fabric will I need?


To make a wall hanging measuring 150x200 cm you will need 210 cm of fabric.
Most metre fabrics are now sold in 150 cm widths.
You will also need to buy a packet of SY iron-on hemming strip.

CURTAINS

How much fabric will I need?


For ceiling heights of 240 cm, you will need 500 cm of fabric to make two curtain
lengths. If your ceiling is higher, you will need more fabric. Most metre fabrics are
now sold in 150 cm widths.
2. Fold over 2 cm of fabric on one long side of the first
curtain. Then fold again so that you have a double hem

of 2 cm. Press with an iron so that the hem stays in


place. Do exactly the same on the other long side.

CURTAIN PANELS

How much fabric will I need?


For ceiling heights of 240 cm, you will need 270 cm of fabric to make two curtain
panels. Most metre fabrics are now sold in 150 cm widths.

panel. Then fold again so that you have a double hem of

130 x 190 cm. Allow for 2 cm seams when you sew them together.

STEP 1
C Sew all the pieces of fabric (A) together to create one large fabric
piece, 130 x 190 cm.

STEP 2
Fold fabric pieces (B) lengthwise, with the patterned side facing
