To whom it may concern,

I originally planned to say that after much thought that I had decided to resign from my
position as Ward 2 Representative for Bucyrus City Council, but honestly it took very little
thought. I planned to attend the regularly scheduled Bucyrus City Council meeting on July
7th. As the meeting time approached on Tuesday night, I dreaded the thought of being in a
room with anywhere from 10-40 people (always varies), most of whom opt out of wearing
masks to protect others. My family is the most important thing in my life and their health
and safety is my priority, along with coworkers that I encounter in day-to-day life (while
socially distancing and using precautions).

I know that there are so many varying viewpoints on COVID-19, but my opinion is that it is
something we have never seen before, there are so many unknown factors, and I would
rather be cautious than in any way jeopardize someone else's health. I could quote
statistics, but everyone will just fight about those no matter where the reference comes
from. I am disheartened by the fact that most other council members are not wearing
masks or socially distancing at meetings, as they are leaders in the community and
influence how others approach this situation. As an elected official, I felt it was my duty to
follow the Governor's directives.

I don't feel comfortable working for Bucyrus City Council during a worldwide pandemic
and don't agree with the way the City Council meetings are being held. I in no way want to
be held accountable for Bucyrus City Council's actions during this time.

I am resigning from being a Bucyrus City Council Member. Since I have made my stance on
this known, I have had community members voice that they are uncomfortable coming to
Council meetings and that they believe there should be an option for people to view at
home online where they can ask questions and receive answers.

I had great hopes in helping the City of Bucyrus as a City Council Member. This is in no way
what I wanted, but I feel it is necessary.

Sincerely, Candy Yocum
