ALL ABOUT ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, ACADEMIC ACTIVITY, ACADEMIC DEMADS,

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS, EXAMINATION

On this question the participants answers are all about the the academic activities that they

are doing inside the classroom such as exams, requirements, quizzes, homeworks and project

to be submitted to their respective professors.

R: Sa iyong opinyon ano ang ibig sabihin ng academic performance? (“In your

opinion, what is academic performances?”)

P1: Ako para sakin ang academic performance ay mga Gawain na ginagawa sa

loob ng classroom like quiz and Major exam. (“For me, academic performance

are the things that I’ve done inside the classroom like quiz and major exams.”)

P2: Ako as a fifth-year student of industrial engineering, pag graduating

siyempre andyan yung thesis andyan yung iba’t-ibang exams tapos projects na

mai-aaply mo talaga pag grumaduate ka, so medyo Malaki yung demands

talaga lalo ngayon graduating. (“I’m a 5th year industrial engineering student,

and of course graduating and also having lots of requirements to pass, exams

and projects that can apply for my future.”)

P3: Para sakin ang academic performance yun yung ginagawa mo or kung

paano sini-cease mo yung sarili mo as a student sa classroom ayun, academic

performance, nag pe-perform ka academically. (“For me academic performance

are the things you are doing and how you perform inside the classroom, these
are the things you are ceasing as a student in your classroom, you also perform

things academically.”)

P4: (“Okay academic performance these are the things that you are doing inside

the classroom like having assignments, requirements, projects. This are the

things you must comply on your teachers.”)

P5: Ako academic demand as a nursing student sobrang hectik ng schedule

sabay ang duty and lecture pero ngayon graduating na ko mas okay ngayon

kase bukod lecture at duty nakakapagod talaga hindi lang emotionally,

physically and kase na duty kame puyat, sleepless night sobrang madami

requirements case study, maligalig na pateint at maligalig na relatives. (“I

personally, in my academic demands as a nursing student, I can say that I have

hectic schedules because we have our duty while having lecture and now that I

am a graduating student, I found my course as a challenge for me emotionally

and physically, when we have our duty of course we sleep very late at night to

do things for our academic requirements, and we will wake up very early to

prepare for our duty.”)

P6: Kapag siguro nag kakasisihan na like sino ang gagawa nito lalo na kapag

ano kapag exam week sobrang hektik ng shed ng lahat so hindi mo sila

mahahagilap lalo na kapag napatapat sa exam week siyempre lahat sila may

gagawin hindi natin mahahagilap those time ako na yung gumagawa ng lahat

parang for me it’s a burden na ito lang ang dapat kung gawin pero na cacater

out ko yung iba nakukuha ko pa ang kanilang gawain and dagdag isipin pa.
(“Maybe when we have a failure decision here everyone is pointing out to blame

on the things that happen in the activities and also another factor is when we

are having our exam week, we tend to comply irst in our academic concern

before we do our extracurricular activities and for me sometimes it’s a burden to

do things on my own without their help.”)

P7: For me academic performance, actually nag ti-thesis kame ngayon so part

ng thesis naming ay yung getting academics performance students, so

basically para sakin yung academics performance ay yung grades ko yung

kung anong performance yung grades na lumalabas kung paano ako nag pe-

performe sa aking academic matters yon yun lang. (“For me academic

performance, I also have thesis and part of our thesis is connected to academic

performance, basically academic performance is the result of my hard work in

academic matters.”)

P8: Ngayon ay nag ti-thesis kame so dun palang medyo mabigat na and meron

kase pino-produce na isang film na talaga nga namang hindi biro dahil

sumasabak sa approvals madami beses na rereject and other that things

meron akong I think 5 or 6 major subjects and yun after that mag-kakameron

kame OJT these second semester so basically yun yung ganun kalaki yung

demands ng academics ko but then yun nag eenjoy din naman ako pero

minsan talaga sobrang sakit na nun sa ulo mag isip. (“As for now, we currently

having our thesis. It is difficult and a heavy load. Sometimes mistakes are

always on the loose at our thesis. Moreover, we have this film. The production of
this film is hard as we need so much approvals for this thing. We catch so many

rejections. Aside from those things, I’m taking 5 to 6 major subjects and we will

be having a OJT for the second semester. So basically, I’m stressed but I’m still

enjoying. It is just sometimes it hard for me to sync in the situation.”)

P9: Academic performance paano ka nag eexcel sa klase kung ayun kung ano

klase sa loob ng classroom academic performance paano ka nag peperform sa

klase yung actively participation kung on time ka ba active o committed ka ba

sa assignment. (“Academic performance is all about h you excel inside the

classroom and on how you perform in your classroom. If it is by having your

strong commitments to assignments and requirements.”)

P10: As of now akoy isang irregular student medyo yung mga subject ko medyo

mabibigat most of my subject are major sobrang bigat parang pinagsabaysabay

ko na yung mabibigat kaya paano ko ito ibabalance may hawak din ako org.

(“As of now I am an irregular student and I have heavy subjects, and most of

that subjects are major, ang I find it hard because I am doing all of them with my

hadled organization.”

ALL ABOUT Various Commitment, Heavy workload, Time consuming,

Work inequity, Public schedule, Lack of sleep, Sacrificing, Stress and

responsibility, Burnout, Straining Activities, Absent, academic stress

-on this part the participants (student leader) answered the questions with

regards to the struggles they are experienced by being a student leader,

are the following: being involved in various affiliation in different student


organizations, having lots of various commitments, work load iniquity,

time consuming stuff, fatigue, sleepless nights of reviewing their notes in

academics while doing their extracurricular at the same time, sacrificing

important thing in times of schedule conflicts, hey also develop stress

and thinking for their responsibilities as a student and a student leader at

the same time, there are point that they were burned out because of the

loads in academics and extracurricular activities, they also experience

hard time in having straining activities, the meeting and events that they

are executing are also cause of their absence in the classroom and it

affects their academic performance.

R: Sa iyong opinyon anong klaseng studyante ka sa loob ng silid aralan? (“On

your opinion, what kind of student are you inside the classroom?”)

P1: Disadvantage, siguro hindi siya disadvantages siguro challenges yun nga

parang siyempre yung sa normal na students pwedeng school, bahay, gala

pero pag student leader you have other commitments na kailangan bigyan ng

time at bigyan ng atensyon. (“For me I can’t call it disadvantage but challenges

because normal student have their routine to school, went home and go with

friends to unwind but if you’re a student leader you will prioritize your

commitments that you should focus on.”)

P2: Stressful ang hirap, siguro practically speaking madaming maiisip yung

student leader kung para dun sa student na fulltime student kase yun nga

meron kang ibang iniisip na bigyan ng time kaylangan ibigay mo 56sa sarili
mo. given na talaga yung stress as a student leader (“For me being student

leader is more complicated than a normal student because you will focus only on

being student and prioritize your acads and not having more activities to

execute.”)

P3: Ako siempre as student priorities ko yung academics pero dahil nga meron

tayong commitments sa ibang bagay na yun nga sa extracurricular activities

kung baga priority ko rin mas lamang siya siempre academics kase student

kase katulad ng requirements na para sa isang student ay good academic

standing pero basically academics talaga yung priority ko. (“Of course, I

personally my priorities is my academics but we do have our commitments in

other things like in extracurricular activities, maybe extracurricular activities is

also my priority but my very first is my academics, as a student our goal is to

have good academic standing.”)

P4: Halimbawa kapag sa buong week mo puro activities yung mga ginagawa

mo mapa academics or extracurricular activities ma bu-burnout ka din tapos

parang mapapagod at mapapagod ka, good din yung nagkakameron ng

pahinga yung may masasandalan ka kahit isang araw lang tapos sa case ko

sa personal experience ko isa dun sa pahinga yung prayers and evangelistic

events na ginagawa namin every week, for me rest is when attending activities

in my organization. (“For example, when you have full package schedule in my

academics and extracurricular activities, I always get burned out so for me I can
find refuge in the activities we are doing in my organization, I also find refuge

while I am praying.”)

P5: Siguro disadvantage ng pagiging student leader ay pag pinag sabay yung

academics at kapag hindi mo mina-manage ng tama yung oras mo and also

ayun pag hindi mo ginagamit siguro or kung naging student leader ka lang

based on title pero hindi mo ginagawa, dis-advantage is maraming magagalit

sayo, magtatampo sayo, ganyan ayun. (“Maybe, you will have that

disadvantages if you will perform your academics while doing extracurricular

activities at a time, it’s a matter of managing your time properly, if you will not

manage your time proper, you will only have the title of being a student leader

and not the true meaning of it, if you will not perform it properly it will lead you

to chaos.”)

P6: Mas stress? Being ano yung siguro mas nakaka stress yung being ordinary

student na puro nalang aral wala nalang ginagawa na nakaka stress yun kase

parang ang goal lage pumasa or goal lage maka taas sa exam, ganyan kung

may iba tayong ginagawa hindi siya nakakabawas stress talaga. (“More

stressful? For me being a normal student who are studying hard is more

stressful because your only goal is to pass, to aim high grades and a like but if

we have diversional activities our stress will lessen.”)

P7: Being a student leader madami disadvantage hindi talaga may mag

sasuffer at mag sasuffer talaga kapag student leader ka, yung relationship to

one another yung family because of that time relationship sa co-members


minsan nagkakameron ng misunderstanding and lalo na sa acads

nagkakameron conflicts minsan hindi nagtutugma yung schedule at yung

dalawang yun like a papipiliin ka dun sa isang scenario ano yung uunahin mo

acads ba o extracurricular activities (“There are lot of disadvantages, you can’t

control that one of your priorities will suffer if you are student leader one of those

things is your relationship to one another, your relation to your family member,

because of the load demands and conflict schedules, and sometimes you will be

on a cross road where you will choose on what will you prioritize.”)

P8: Kapag siguro nag kakasisishan na like sino ang gagawa nito lalo na kapag

ano kapag exam week sobrang hektik ng shed ng lahat so hindi mo sila

P9: Yes naman, sobra sobrang nakakatulong kase there are moments na

sobrang lutang na ko sa academics and lunod talaga sa dami ng kailngan

isipin but then iba kapag na ano you do things outside parang hindi lang na
hohone yung skills na meron ka yan.(“Extracurriculars aids me in keeping my

stress out. It serves as a break point from the struggles of my academics. It feels

like my stress reliever. In addition, it enhances my skills.”)

P10: Ano straining physical activities at tsaka hindi lang physical pati narin

mental activity kase ah physical activity in a sense na madami kayong usually

talaga ginagawa na kaylangan ng kamay at tsaka paa yun ganyun, ano mental

ah parang strenuous sa mental din kase andami niyo kaylangan isipin parang

minsan yung cognitive skills mo din kaylangan talaga kapag student leader

and na e-exhaust kapag wala na masyado tulog yon yun. (“Maybe those

straining activities, physically and mentally, because you need to do things here

with your hands and feet, it is very strenuous mentally because there’s a lot of

things you should think of, and sometimes your cognitive skills is also involve.”)

P11: Basically, at yung pinaka most important I think is just knowing your

priorities yun yong pinaka una kung tinatanung sa sarili ko is what parang

ano bang priority ko at ano bang unang dalawa lang yan priority, time

management, execution para determining yung priorities di kana malilito

568kapag alam mo yung prirority mo ay itooo ah. Ako I have a lot of priority

but parang if I would be if would choose between my extracurricular and

academic matters, I would really choose the academic yun yung una bago yung

extracurricular kase that’s what I’m parang yun yung pinaka pinag hihirapan

talaga ng estudyante para makatapos yun yung pinaka tinitingnan after wards

so yun knowing your priorities. Time management making I have a schedule I


make schedule every week and I see to it that I become productive everyday na

meron akong nagagawa either at extracurricular then yung execution lang I

think also being accountable to other people yung parang you tells others na

gagawin mo to para ma drive ko din na hindi ka ka ma stock sa plano lang

kase mahirap yun yun yong I think na anong tawag (hahaha) yun lang .

(“Basically, the most important is knowing your priorities, that’s the first thing I

always asked to myself what are the important things that I should do first, it is

just knowing your priority and time management execution too determine your

priorities, you will not be in a rush if you know what are the things you should

do first, I have a lot of priority but parang if I would be if would choose between

my extracurricular and academic matters I would really choose the my

academics, because to to graduate in college is the number one goal of every

student, with regards to time management , I always make my personal

schedule for the week to know what are the events or things to be done first, it is

also my drive not to be stock in one thing for me to be productive.”)

P12: Outside the classroom sa status ko ngayun medyo marami akong

affiliation different organization sa school na ibat ibang sinasalihan outside like

religious org actualy minsan nahihirapan ako kung pano ihandle yung part ko

dun at big responsibility ko dun. (“As of now I am involved with different

organizational affiliation outside specially n a religious organization and

sometimes I don’t know how to handle the situation and my different

responsibilities there.”
P13: Siguro yung experience ko kase sa part ko biglaang meeting pag nasa

klase instead na matututo ka sa klase your demand ng meeting napaka bigat

wala ka magagawa kundi ma-exit sa klase. (“On my experience, if there are

unplaned meetings, the time I reserve for my class to learn will consume by tht

meeting.”)

P14: Napaka stressful din yung student leader ka mabigat responsibilities kesa

sa academics may hinahandle ka din students handle co-members, events

unlike ordinary student’s mag rereview ka lang. (“It is very stressful to be a

student leader because of various activities, unlike to be an ordinary student

your focus is to have a good time of review only.”)

ALL ABOUT Participation Involvement, Willingness, Confidence,

Competitive, Passion, Initiative, Courage, Active, People Oriented,

Outgoing, Calling, Observant, Attentive Listener Ambient, Positivity,

-on this part the participants (student leader) answered the questions

regarding on what are their attitudes and characteristic inside and

outside the academic world most of them answered the following: being

participative and ,making themselves to be involved as much as possible

on the discussion and to the activities that they have, another one is to

be confident enough in all the decision and actions that they made, they

believe that if a student leader has the willingness in the first place, the

rest will follow, they will make things very good as they could or the

student leaders will do it softly and less hassle because of initiating first
without the permission of other student leader, some of them says that

passion brought them on the position that they have today, because they

took it as a privilege and not merely a burden, some of the participants

also says that they being active in a student organization builds their

courage to speak in front of a large crowd and courage to lead others,

being a leader is not easy, because authority and trust is somewhat you

should gain first, you must be a good example to other specially in school

whether in academics or extracurricular activities. but some of student

leaders was born to lead others, those people do have that what you called

calling, it drives them you to perform well with positivity in their minds,

the student leaders are also active listener not only passive but they look

at every situation and person with understanding, and that sums up the

characteristics, attitude and values that a student leader must possess.

R: Sa iyong opinyon ano ang extracurricular activities? (“In your opinion, what

is extracurricular activities?

P1: Ako siguro typical student lang din ako na minsan pag interested talaga

ako sa tinuturo makikinig talaga ako pero kapag yung medyo bored na yung

mga tinuturo inaatok na ako, as I said I am just a typical student parin pero as

much as possible tinatry ko maging involve. (“For me I’m a typical student, I

will listen attentively if the topic is interesting and when it is boring just like

other student, I get bored. But as much as possible I always make sure that I

will make myself involved.”)


P2: Kase parang alam mo yung meron kang kayang ibigay bakit hindi mo

ibigay, tapos parang gusto ko din ma experience ng iba yung na experience ko

dun sa pagiging student leader. (“Because I know in myself that I can give more

so why can’t I give? And for them to experience the joy that I have with this

activity right now.”)

P3: It will be worth it dahil hindi ka lang nag bibigay ng nag bibigay sa student

leader nakukuha mo din yung training personally tapos hindi lang sa

curriculum base sa knowledge na makukuha mo but also your skills na

dealing with people leading the people tapos yung confidence mo nga yung

leadership skills na ma aaply mo in the future parin that you can apply. ( “Yes,

it will be worth it you will not only give knowledge but also you will gain

knowledge and skills by dealing with those students and here it can boost your

confident in leading others that you can apply in your future.”)

P4: Ano, sa tingin ko ako yung pabibo sa klase yung tipo may mga tanung

gusto ko ako yung makakasagot talaga agad agad ganun. (“I think I am student

who are always active in the classroom, especially in recitation, I want to

answer those questions immediately.”)

P5: Kase na experience ko na, makapag handle ng group of people tapos and

gusto ko maging student leader kase parang nandun na sa personality ko yung

mag express ng ideas or mag lead ng mga tao sa isang common goal ayun.

(“Because I experienced handling people, and it is also my personality to express

ideas and to lead people with one common goal.”)


P6: Oo, it will be worth it, worth it na siya dahil nararanasan ko na siya

ngayon nakikita ko na yung transformation ko as a person and also how I am

able to help sa mga tao namkakasalamuha ko and magiging worth it siya

talaga kung kaya alam natin kung bakit papasukin ang isang bagay at gagawin

natin with heart and passion. (“Yes, it will be worth it, it is already worth it

because an already experience my transformation as a person, and also how

would I able to help people that you encounter, it is a matter of working by heart

and passion.”)

P7: Ngayon last year ko na as a student pero siguro in a general scene kung

ma-oofferan siguro ako ng leadership title sa future, kung sa corporate world

man yun, siguro I can accept it or I will accept it kase nga nararanasan ko or

marami ako experiences na magagamit ko sa pag li-lead ng other group kase

especially kung walang mag volunteer kase alam ko naniniwala kana dapat

may isa na mag i-iniciate, so kung wala ako na lang yung tatanggap pero hindi

yun dahil wala nang bago dahil willing ako na mag share ng kaalaman ko as a

leader. (“This is my last year but if I will give a chance to be a leader for another

year in my corporate world, I will accept, and I will be confidently do it because I

have the guts and experience. For me there was always one person who will

iniciate and if others can’t do, I will do, because I am willing to share my

knowledge.”)

P8: Oo ene-encourage ko lahat ng mga student na maging involve sa isang

student organization or maging student leader kasi though kase baka iba
natatakot dahil dagdag gawain dagdag isipin dagdag responsibilities pero more

of that the growth na makukuha natin personality natin kase ito yung

preparation natin hindi nman yung fo course natin hindi yun enough na ma

prepare tayo sapag harap sa panibagong buhay natin and I believe being

involve as a student leader yun talga yung makakatulong din satin madevelop

ang personality so, hopefully na ma-encourage na maging student leader sa

simula mahihirapan kayo pero pag ginusto niyo talaga at itinuloy tuloy niyo

lang with your co-officer or kaya na sa org malalampasan niyo lahat

madedevelop kayo as a person. (“Yes, I wiil encourage all the student to be

involve in student leader organization because sometimes other students are

afraid of loads and responsibilities but for me they will gain growth and

personality to face our future lives and I believe being a involve as a student

leader will help you to develop your personality and identity, hopefully you will

be encourage to be a student leader hardship is only at the beginning but if you

will put your while doing this it will continuously reflect on the things you

made.”)

P9: (“For me I’m a typical student who are doing fine inside the classroom I can

do things competitively and I can do things and good performance.”)

P10: It teaches, and they thought me to balance my priorities may academics

and it boosts my confidence in lalo na nga ngayon hindi lang kase ano akoy

mahiyain dati pero ngayon I can do things na in a competitive way na kaya

kona makipag sabayan sa aking kaklase na hindi ko magawa dati. (“It teaches,
and they thought me to balance my priorities in my academics and it boost my

confident. Because I am a very shy type person but now, I can do things in

competitive way inside the classroom.”)

P11: Yes, many times in acads and extracurricular

activity siyempre yung both nayun hindi lang saya lang lalo na dun sa amin

religious, the way of life of a Christian is not easy hndi ganun kadali dadaan at

dadaan ka talaga sa matinding pagsubok. Minsan talagang mapapasuko ka na

lang pero pag nalaman mo talagang kung ano ang purpose mo kung bakit mo

ginagawa to para kanino at para saan babalik yung confidence mo na mag

serve ulit parang mindset na at the end of the day it’s your responsibility na

gawin mo ito walang tutulong sayo di naman sayo bibigay yung position na

yun load nayun kung hindi mo kayang gawin. (“Yes many times in those

things, especially in my organization because it is a religious organization and

as a Christian, our way of life is not that easy there are always struggles that

you may encounter but then you know why you are doing this and for what, the

confidence that you build before will boost it to do things according to His will.”)

P12: Medyo tricky questions, what kind of student? ano I’m a communication

student pero siguro mas-sasabe ko na? ako na siguro yung pinaka tahimik sa

classroom, tahimik lang ako and medyo mas observant ako kase usually yung

environment namin is maingay and ayoko makadagdag dun. Yun tahimik lang

ako at nakikinig. (“It’s like a tricky question, What kind of student, actually I am
a communication student, but I can say that I am the most quiet student in our

room and I am more on observation.”)

P13: Student inside the classroom still the same ganun padin medyo, well

hindi naman pala medyo mas outgoing ako outside the classroom all because

hindi na ganun ka noisy yung environment ko when I go out tapos parang

outside the room madami akong friends hindi lang closed sa kung sino man

nasa room namin yun. (“Being student leader inside the classroom still the

same, I don’t say perfectly the same, but I am more out going outside the

classroom all because, my environment outside the classroom is quieter than

inside, I find more friends outside the classroom.”)

P14: I won’t give up on my academics for sure. But being a student leader is

outside of my scope, 6although I am willing to be one of student leader if time

permits and know that I’m deserving to serve for another year as student

leader. (“I won’t give up on my academics for sure. But being a student leader is

P15: Outside the classroom sa status ko ngayun medyo marami akong

affiliation different organization sa school na ibat ibang sinasalihan outside like

Being student leader can experience lots of factors that affects their

academic performance but there are also benefits that a student leader

gained by being one of it, here the student leader answered the study

questions regarding the benefits that they are gaining by being a student

leader are the following: they say that by being involved in a student

organization they develop their skills in all aspects like in improving

their attitudes and character as a person personality confidence because a

student leader is not only dealing with paper works and maybe we can say

that some student got their position by chance and not by choice but the

researcher do not limit their studies on that, because most of student

leader ran to help their fellow student, they also dealing with diverse

people who has different attitudes and personality and dealing with this

kind of people are not that easy and here they grow as a leader, the event

that they are executing also gave them happiness,


R: Sa iyong opinyon ano ang extracurricular activities? (“In your opinion, what

is extracurricular activities?”)

P1: Extracurricular activities naman ito yung parang additional, parang diba

sa school hindi lang naman yung academic ang tinuturo hindi lang puro

knowledge para ma develop din sa extracurricular activities yung socialization

yung ating skills and leadership yun lang. (“For me extracurricular is an

additional only, it is not just only knowledge inside the room can learn but also

socialization skills and leadership skills can develop by having extracurricular

activities”)

P2: Kase parang alam mo yung meron kang kayang ibigay bakit hindi mo

ibigay, tapos parang gusto ko din ma experience ng iba yung na experience ko

dun sa pagiging student leader. (“Because I know in myself that I can give more

so why can’t I give? And for them to experience the joy that I have with this

activity right now.”)

P3: Sa extracurricular activities natulungan ako i-build up my confidence in

my leadership skills tapos sa time management siguro saka sa susunod na

season. (“Extracurricular helps me to build my confidence in leadership skills

and time management.”)

P4: Yun nga dahil student leader ako na build up and natulungan akong ma

build up yung confident in my leadership skills and time management parang

diba kapag sinabe na eadership hindi lang yung iba lagi but ofcourse, pati
sarili mo na din ang na babago in a positive way, so yun try to live, dress up

and excel in the things you are doing. (“Just what I said before as a student

leader it helps me in building my confidence in leadership and time management

and trying to excel in all aspects whether in academics or in extracurricular

activities.”)

P5: Sobrang nakakadevelop ng personality in a way na mas ma-bibuild yung

personality sa pakikinig sa mga tao tapos nakaka-develop siya ng

communication skills, kase you need to be able to share ah yung mga

nangyayare mga conflict, concern, mga ideas, project nakaka-develop sa

person. (They say that it develops someone’s personality in a way that I will

build my personality in listening to other’s concern and it also develop

communication skills. You need to share the conflicts, concern, ideas and project

that can develop the person.”)

P6: Oo, it will be worth it, worth it na siya dahil nararanasan ko na siya

ngayon nakikita ko na yung transformation ko as a person and also how I am

able to help sa mga tao namkakasalamuha ko and magiging worth it siya

talaga kung kaya alam natin kung bakit papasukin ang isang bagay at gagawin

natin with heart and passion. (“Yes, it will be worth it, it is already worth it

because an already experience my transformation as a person, and also how

would I able to help people that you encounter, it is a matter of working by heart

and passion.”)
P7: Kapag siguro nag kakasisishan na like sino ang gagawa nito lalo na kapag

ano kapag exam week sobrang hektik ng schedule ng lahat so hindi mo sila

mahahagilap lalo na kapag napatapat sa exam week siyempre lahat sila may

gagawin hindi natin mahahagilap those time ako na yung gumagawa ng lahat

parang for me it’s a burden na ito lang ang dapat kung gawin pero na cacater

out ko yung iba nakukuha ko pa ang kanilang gawain and dagdag isipin pa.

(“Maybe when we have a filure decision here everyone is pointing out to blame

on the things that happen in the activities and also another factor is when we

arehaving our exam week, we tend to comply irst in our academic concern before

we do our extracurricular activites and for me sometimes it’s a burden to do

things on my own without their help.”)

P8: Yes naman, sobra sobrang nakakatulong kase there are moments na

sobrang lutang na ko sa academics and lunod talaga sa dami ng kailngan

isipin but then iba kapag na ano eh you do things outside parang hindi lang na

hohone yung skills na meron ka yan. (“Extracurriculars aids me in keeping my

stress out. It serves as a break point from the struggles of my academics. It feels

like my stress reliever. In addition, it enhances my skills.”)

P9: (“Yes, I believe that growth is just like you should go where a student leader

entail lots of challenging that would hone you as a person.”)

All about Doing things with excellence, being organized, Time

Management, Priority Setting, Balancing, being prepared


-on this part the participants answered questions with regards to the

strategies that they are practicing to balance their academics while doing

their extracurricular activities, the following are the strategies that they

are using, student leaders always make sure that they do thing with

excellence to have a good outcome of the things that they are doing in

academics and extracurricular, for no one will suffer,another is to be

organized in hheir schedules and timelines, well assured that they have to

do list, and schedule for the week and specially they manage their time

ahead of time for conflicts in schedule and to maximize the time that

they have for that day. They also weighing their loads and prioritize it on

what are the irgent and what are the important because they believe that

there are loads that is important and not urgent and there are loads that

urgent but not important and there are loads that is important and urgent

at the same time,being prepared ahead of time is another factor that give

good outcome.

R: Sa iyong opinyon, anong klaseng estudyante ka sa labas ng silid aralan?

(“In your opinion, what kind of student are you outside the classroom?”)

P1: Yun nga dahil student leader ako na build up and natulungan akong ma

build up yung confident in my leadership skills and time management parang

diba kapag sinabe na leadership hindi lang yung iba lagi but ofcourse, pati

sarili mo na din ang na babago in a positive way, so yun try to live, dress up

and excel in the things you are doing. (“Just what I said before as a student
leader it helps me in building my confidence in leadership and time management

and trying to excel in all aspects whether in academics or in extracurricular

activities.”)

P2: Yun nga natutunan ko na gumawa ng weekly schedule, to do list tapos

reminders tapos parang strategies ko dun yung parang meron akong mga

nakakatulong na student leader na nag rereminds sakin yun. (“Maybe one of

my strategies is having weekly schedule, to do list and reminders and also by

the help of my fellow student leader.”)

P3: Sa tingin ko oo, kung baga tamang strategy tapos ano lang tamang mindset

lang and setting of priorities. (“For me it is a yes, you should have right strategy

and having mindset of setting priorities.”)

P4: Ayun siguro sa ngayon hindi masyado nakaka apekto ng negative dahil

priority ko yung academics ko yung meetings schedule yun yung nag aadjust

sa academics so kapag may pasok ako di ako nag e-schedule ng meetings

humahanap ng vacant time kung Kaylan pwede yung extracurricular activities

kase nga extracurricular lang. (“For now, it not affects my academics

negatively, because my priority is my academics, I don’t call for meeting when I

have class, I find vacant time to execute all of the meetings.”)

P5: Ako dahil nag hahandle din ako ng higher position like presidency, ganyan

yung pag papatawag ko ng meeting di naman siya nakaka apekto dahil I’ll

make sure first na available lang ako or available na yung mga tao yung

parang yung ginagawa ko lets meet kung saan tayo available lahat so
halimbawa vacant tayo sa time na to sa date na to dun natin i-set kase

iniiwasan natin masacrifice yung isang bagay usually academics siyempre mag

aaral tayo hindi magiging student leader tayo parang it’s just a way for us na

makapag extend pa or magawa panatin gusto natin ganun pag lead ng

organization, so, parang hindi pa naman ako naka experience na mag sa suffer

yung pag attend ko sa aming subject kapag magkakaroon ng meeting isini-set

na 2naming ahead of time. (“I personally I handle higher position like

presidency, and I scheduled meeting on the time we are all available to avoid

sacrificing things with regards in academics, because we are studying to be a

student and not to be a student leader, being a student leader is just a way to

extend our help, and I am proudly to say that I don’t experience suffering my

academics for meetings because we always make sure that e will fix good

schedule a head of time.”)

P6: Balancing mahirap talaga parang may mag sasuffer talaga na hindi

effective ang pagiging student leader, kaya nga may nagsasuffer na 1isa if both

pagsasabayin that’s good, for me, strategies ko po ay advance reading kase

hindi mo masasabi kung Kailan aatake ang exams, aatake ang requirements sa

Extracurricular activity and time management knowing your priority. (“In

balancing both of them, you can’t control the situation because of undesired

scenario and conflict schedule. One of them will suffer always, and my

strategies for my academics demands is to review my notes ahead of time and

time management.”)
P7: Siguro yung mga ano I always look to it na hindi sila mag coconflict ng

acads dahil nag seset ako ng meeting on Saturdays or pagabe na sa mga oras

na hindi nag papanagpo ang acads pero priority ko ay acads kase sa

extracurricular activities as a student, student tayo eh may mga nag papaaral

satin magulang natin hindi para mag extracurricular activites. For me

academics is the first thing to be done. (“I see to it that our meetings will not be

conflict on our academic schedules, I set it on the time that we are vacant or late

at night, because first before extracurricular is my academics.”)

P8: It doesn’t affect academics subject because I see to it that my schedules are

plan although parang mga meron mga unplanned biglang meeting priority ko

pa din minsan kong unang na schedule usually lalo na pag academics ang ang

academics ako napunta yun, (“It doesn't affect my academic subject because i

see to it that my schedules are planned though sometimes their unplanned

meetings but my priorities of course is my academics. ”)

R: Ano ang dahilan bakit gusto mo maging isang student leader? (“What is the

reason why you want to become a student leader?”)

P1: Most challenging experience of a being student leader, siguro yun nga

balancing in the sense kung paano mo nakikita ang mga taong nilelead mo

kase you are student leader and kailangan mong maging good example and if

you are not doing well in your academic tapos napapabayaan mo sa dahil
student leader ka siguro hindi ka magiging effective leader so yun yung

challenge talaga to balance your academics and extracurricular activities. (“I’m

challenge in leading them because you cannot please them all, and for me I

should walk the talk for me to gain their trust, that is also my strategies to be an

effective student leader for myself and for my fellow students.”)

P2: Yes, being a student leader will also form you, yun nga to be a good leader

siguro hindi lang aral yung nakukuha yung andun din yung moral values,

yung other skills na magagamit mo habang buhay to be a leader in the future

din pag labas mo ng university. (“Yes, because being a student leader will also

form you to be a good leader, you gained knowledge but also you gain moral

values that you can use in a life time, for your future when you go out of this

university.”)

R: Ano ang dahilan bakit gusto mo maging isang student leader? (“What is the

reason why you want to become a student leader?”)

P1: Siguro hindi giving up, pero mag pahinga kase yun nga if you want to be a

student leader you need to commit all the things you are doing, priorities you

need to do, hindi naman giving up pahinga lang. (“For me I can’t call that giving

up but having rest, if you want to be a student leader you need to commitments

all the things you are doing priorities you need to.”)
P2: Halimbawa kapag sa buong week mo puro activities yung mga ginagawa

mo mapa academics or extracurricular activities ma bu-burnout ka din tapos

parang mapapagod at mapapagod ka, good din yung nagkakameron ng

pahinga yung may masasandalan ka kahit isang araw lang tapos sa case ko

sa personal experience ko isa dun sa pahinga yung prayers and evangelistic

events na ginagawa namin every week, for me rest is when attending activities

in my organization. (“For example, when you have full package schedule in my

acads and extarurricular activities, I alays get burned out so for me I can find

refuge in the activities we are doing in my organization, I also find refuge while I

am praying.”)
