The vice president Jejomar Binay said he was not planning to compete for the

speakership in the house representatives. 76-year-old binay patriarch is also

representative of Makati’s first district. According to Binay he will run for congress so
that he can serve the public again and the speakership is not the reason behind his
candidacy. The house speaker post will be vacant when the 18 th congress opens in July
