U of U Inpatient Rehab MET:

Instructions
1. Do the following:
a. Collect envelope from Level 2 reception desk.
b. Buy gum at Level 1 vending machine.
c. “Buy” bag of chips at Level 3 multipurpose room to the right as you are exiting
the elevator.
d. Buy cookies at Level 1 vending machine.
e. Telephone therapist’s desk phone and tell them who you are and where you are.
f. Drop off envelope by the stairs in the gym.
2. You should obtain the following information and write it down:
a. Price of orange juice from vending machine
b. Name of receptionist
c. Room number of the multipurpose room
d. Number of tables in the clinic waiting area
3. You must meet me outside Level 2 reception 20 minutes after you have started the task
and tell me the time.
4. Tell the person observing you when you have completed everything.

RULES
 You must complete all tasks but may do them in any order
 You should spend no more than $5.00 (Subject to change)
 Stay within this building
 Do not enter any patient rooms
 No room should be entered other than to complete part of the task
 You should not go into a room/location you have already been in
 You should buy no more than 2 items from the vending machine
 Take as little time to complete this exercise without rushing excessively
 Do not speak to the person observing you unless this is part of the exercise
Drop off this paper by the stairs
in the gym on level 1.
Therapist set up instructions:
- Envelope with receptionist
- Ensure food items available at vending machine and multipurpose room
- Give client desk phone number
- Give client pen/pencil, paper, and clipboard; necessary amount of money
- Ensure client has a means of checking the time
- Begin task outside level 2 reception
- Clarify any questions client has before beginning
- Stop client after 45 minutes have passed, if they are not already finished

 Record the following:
o Total time to complete
o Total number of locations visited
o Total number of tasks completed
o Total number of passes (visits to relevant locations)
o Total number of rule breaks
