CONCLUSION AND LESSON LEARNT

5.1 Conclusion

In this competitive and dynamic age, a person cannot be competitive enough without
acquiring in both theoretical and practical and getting exposure in the practical field. The
main objective of internship program is to provide internee a platform and foundation for
starting career in the field which internee have done in their specialization. Hence internship
is a starting point of a professional career for any students. Internship helps the students to
pre-know the challenges, complicities and compositeness of the world. So it helps them to
develop themselves into a dynamic and attractive personality. Internship helps one to
understand the work place, working condition and working procedures. It also helps to built
up of a corporate relation and understands the formal and informal relations of the
organization.

So far as the case of CBIL is concerned, internship at CBIL is like a dream. There are lots of
things to learn from an organization which is a growing power in the banking industry and is
supposed to have a deepest customer network in the country. Nepalese financial system,
basically business, has broadened in number and diversified in modern financial instrument.
CBIL has customized its services according to the needs and wants of the customers.
Majority of the customer are satisfied with the services provided by CBIL. The major reason
behind it was cooperative and responsive staff. From above analysis it is clear that CBIL is
one of the well established and leading commercial bank of Nepal which aims to serve its
valued customers through quality and advancement of its service throughout the nation. Thus
it has a slogan "Your Partner For Progress".

During internship period, intern observed the functional activities of DEMAT and understand
the DEMAT culture. Since DEMAT Department is the concern topic of this report, duration
of 2 month internship provided the chance to work with different aspect of DEMAT. It was
indeed a great pleasure to have company of a very supportive team and professionals at
CBIL.
5.2 Lessons Learnt

The duration of internship lasted for around 2 months and during the course of the internship
there were various lessons that intern able to learn. Within this short span of time, much
about customer relationship, product and services has been learnt. Similarly, this internship
taught intern importance of interpersonal relationship, time management, effective
communication, public relation, leadership traits and other managerial skills which are basic
requirement to groom overall personality of student. Likewise, this internship period was
helpful to bridge the theoretical knowledge learned during academic session with practical
exposure and to learn the real world working environment.

The major lesson learnt from this program at Citizen Bank International Limited are
cited below

 General banking practices and corporate procedures.


 The basic activities and operation of DEMAT Department and its role in overall
functioning of a commercial bank using various office equipments like photo copy
machine, scanner, printer, computer etc.
 Procedures for form's fulfilment to open DEMAT account and closing the account.
 Counselling the customers by helping them to solve their queries by providing
information about different DEMAT services.
 Enhancing communication skills, inter personal skills, analytical skills and decision
making abilities which are required in the business.
 Developing attitudes and prerequisites of professionalism and personality as a banker.
 Learning different procedures of filing and indexing of different document.
 Importance of the time management and the need of the communication skills are
very much needed.
 Activities related in issuing cheque, creating customers DRN letter, phone handling
etc was learnt. Able to know that readiness to work and showing and "never say no"
attitude are the keys towards success.
 Authority and responsibility relationship among the various managerial and
subordinate level in the hierarchy of the commercial banks.
 One should not only know to attract a customer but also should be able to retain them.
 Keeping record of return RTS.
 Sending DRN copy to different RTS.
 Handling customers complain and feedback.
 Process of issuing right share.

All the above works were done within two months when intern was placed at the DEMAT
Department. This internship was a great opportunity for intern to face real life work scenarios
after four years in the classroom.

5.3 Suggestion

 There should be few more staffs in the DEMAT Department.


 Avautikaran filing of different branch should be in systematic way.
 The speed of sending DRN paper to different RTS should fast, providing needy
service promptly.
 The working layout should change to increase working speed.
 DEMAT Department should open in all branches and give all authority related to
DEMAT like DEMAT accounting opening, DRN letter creating, DEMAT statement.
 CBIL RTS should open
 Token system need to start in DEMAT Department.
 365 days service should provided for customers.
 Mobile information sending system should activate.
