CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Introduction to Electrical Installation

The electric system in installation cost can be determined by a number of factors
and a contractor can estimate total expenses base on time necessary for completing
the project and purchasing price of all material.
The accurate estimate can be used the architectural drawings for electrical work.
Number of outlets, switches can be taken into account by on electrician while
estimating total cost of new electrical system installation.
Whatever type of electrical equipment is installed, it has to be connected by means
of cables and other types of conductors, controlled by suitable switchgear. This is the
work which is undertaken by the installation engineer, and no equipment, however
simple or elaborate can used with safety unless this installation work has been carried
out correctly.
There was very little planning of wiring installations in those early days, but now,
with supplies from the grid, very large sources of power are introduced into all
premises which use electricity, and proper planning and design have become
essential.
When planning an installation, there are many things which must be taken into
account: the correct sizes of cables, suitable switchgear, current rating of overcurrent
devices, and the number of outlets which may be connected to a circuit and so on.
The regulations governing installation work can be divided into two categories:
statutory regulations and non-statutory regulations.

1.2. Aim and Objectives

The main objectives of this thesis are as follows:
 To understand how electrical installation for two-storey building.
 To understand estimate for Two-storey building.
 To calculate total consumption of power for the building.
 To determine the cost of material for the job.
2

 To determine the wire size and rating

1.3. Scopes of Thesis

This thesis is the estimate and installation for two-storey building. In this,
estimates of lighting and electrical installation system described. Sizes of cables and
wires and circuit breaker ratings are selected. Describe earthing system for two-storey
building. In this thesis, describe calculation of current, voltage and power.

1.4. Outlines of Thesis

This thesis composed of five chapters. Chapter one describes introduction.
Chapter two describes electrical wiring and lighting. Chapter three describes electrical
estimate and electrical plan. Chapter four describes electrical calculation for two-
storey building. Chapter five describes discussion and conclusion of thesis.
