NIT HAMIRPUR UNITED STATES GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL (USGBC HEADQUARTERS, WASHINGTON D.C. (U.S. PROJECT TEAM ARCHITECT : Perkins + Will COMPLETED : Early 2007 5 Ee AREA - : 73,770 Sq. Ft. ABOUT USGBC It is a private membership-based non-profit organization that promotes sustainability in building design, construction, and operation. It is best known for its development of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems and its annual Green build International Conference and Expo, the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. As the creator of the LEED rating system for sustainable buildings, USGBC initiated the design of a new national headquarters that exemplifies best practices. The office space was designed to offer 30% better air quality, save 40% more water, and use less than half the energy of a typical comparable office space The project achieved a certification level of Platinum under the LEED for Commercial Interiors rating system. LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — PRIVATE OFFICES LIGHTING ENERGY USE + ASHRAE 90.1 2004 Allows: 1.10 W/SF * Installed Lighting Power Density: 0.53 W/SF + Private Office Square-Footage: 12,200 SF + Predicted Annual Lighting Energy (As per ASHRAE) : 14,700 kWh/yr + Actual Energy consumption : 7,600 kWh/yr (49% below) LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — CONFERENCE ROOM Lighting Scene Control - Each Conference Room has four lighting scenes to provide appropriate lighting levels for different types of interactive meetings and multi-media presentations. A/V Interface - Lighting scenes can be activated from the A/V controller. Conference Room Occupancy Sensors - Manual-On/Auto-Off operation. Daylight Dimming - When daylight dimming is activated, the dimmers respond to input from a photo sensor to maintain 25 foot candles on the desktops. Lighting Control Partitioning - The large Conference Rooms have retractable partition walls to divide the space into two smaller conference rooms. Two scene controllers in each Conference Room offer 3-way lighting control when the partition wall is open, and divided lighting control when the partition wall is closed. LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — CONFERENCE ROOM LIGHTING ENERGY USE + ASHRAE 90.1 2004 Allows: 1.30 W/SF * Installed Lighting Power Density: 0.51 W/SF + Conference Room Square-Footage: 5,500 SF + Predicted Annual Lighting Energy (As per ASHRAE) : 6,200 kWh/yr + Actual Energy consumption : 1,800 kWh/yr (71% below) LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — RECEPTION AND LOBBY + Lighting Scene Control - Eight lighting presets in the Lobby provide a variety of bright and dim lighting scenes, and two kinetic lighting shows. * Occupancy Sensors - Occupancy sensors are only activated at night to ensure that the lobby remains a light and Front Laby inviting space during business hours. + Kinetic Lighting Shows - For evening hospitality events, the touch of a button activates a calming kinetic rhythm of light and dim. Each luminaire is dimmed independently and two lighting shows can be activated from the scene control station. One show is a random pattern of lightening and dimming and the second show is a wave of light that travels across the lobby. LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — RECEPTION AND LOBBY LIGHTING ENERGY USE + ASHRAE 90.1 2004 Allows: 1.30 W/SF * Installed Lighting Power Density: 0.57 W/SF + Lobby Square-Footage: 3,800 SF + Predicted Annual Lighting Energy (As per ASHRAE) : 8,100 kWh/yr + Actual Energy consumption : 5,500 kWh/yr (32% below) LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — CAFE AND KITCHEN + Occupancy Sensors — During daylight hours — manually During night hours — Auto on / off * Daylight Dimming - When dayligh dimming is activated, the dimmers respond to input from a photo sensor to maintain 25 foot candles on the desktops. + Wall Switches - During the day, the wall switch must be turned on manually to encourage users to keep the lights turned off when there is enough daylight. Turning the lights on activates daylight dimming to provide the right amount of light. For those who might need more light, the daylight dimming can be overridden by pushing and holding the top button on the switch. LIGHTING CONTROL CAPABILITIES — CAFE AND KITCHEN LIGHTING ENERGY USE + ASHRAE 90.1 2004 Allows: 0.90 W/SF * Installed Lighting Power Density: 0.51 W/SF + Lobby Square-Footage: 1,950 SF + Predicted Annual Lighting Energy (As per ASHRAE) : 2,250 kWh/yr + Actual Energy consumption : 450 kWh/yr (80% below) SUZL INE EARTH HE UARTER, PUNE (INDIA.
