Remember, remember the fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgotten
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, it is his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three-score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God's providence he is caught
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holloa boys, holloa boys
Make the bells ring!
Holloa boys, holloa boys
God save the King!
Hip hip hooray!

Guy Fawkes Night, which is also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Firework
Night is an annual commemoration on 5 November in Great Britain.
Guy Fawkes,35 years old, leads the Gunpowder plot in 1605. One member of the group
sends a letter to the King. He warns the King to stay away on November 5. The plan is to blow up
King James I and the House of Parliament in London. The King's supporters read the letter and the
plot is discovered. Guy Fawkes is found guarding explosives which are placed under the Parliament
and hidden with wood and coal. He is caught and executed.
The people of Great Britain hold celebrations on or around the 5th November with fireworks
and bonfires. Foods include sausages cooked over the flames and marshmallows toasted in the fire.
