Gentleman of Rio en Medio

1- Because the narrator found out that Don Anselmo own more than
eight acres and he almost own twice the land as much as he
thought.
2- Because the children of the village were overrunning their
property. They came every day and played under the trees.
3- He told them that he sold them his property but he didn’t sell
them the trees because the trees aren’t his. He told them that the
trees belong to the children of the village.
4- They bought the trees individually from the descendants of Don
Anselmo. In my opinion, no values were disregarded. (Write your
own point of view)
5- Don Anselmo thought that it isn’t his right to sell what he doesn’t
own and the narrator thought that The Americans should have
been told about the trees and that they didn’t belong to Don
Anselmo. Both of them are right because you can’t sell what
doesn’t belong to you and it was the Americans’ right to enjoy
their property as well.
6- If Don Anselmo was the narrator, he would choose different
expression because he had a different point of view. He’d use
different vocabulary expressing his great love for his descendants
and how values are more important than money.
7- Don Anselmo didn’t reveal who owns the trees because he
thought that it’s not his right to negotiate about what he doesn’t
own. He was clever and wise and he had values that he respected
so much.
8- Don Anselmo said that to the lawyer. The lawyer complained to
Don Anselmo that the children were overrunning their property
and spent most of their time there. He asked Don Anselmo to
solve the problem.
