What do you mean when we say Philippine Opera? -It is a musical revue featuring traditional and
contemporary Filipino songs, sung not by legends of
classical singing, but by a troupe of dedicated artists.

What is an Opera? -It is an art and musical form in which singers and
musicians perform dramatic work combining text
( called libretto ) and a musical score usually in an
elaborate theatrical settings.

What is the original Philippine opera? -Ma’am, the original Philippine Operas is La Loba
Negra ( The Black She-Wolf) is a three-act Filipino
opera.

B. ACTIVITY

“ Puzzle “
( The learners are divided into 3 groups. The teacher
will give a picture which stand as their guide photo.
Then the pictures on the board are cut off or separate
from each part. The learners need to arrange it while
playing the Budots song and identify the picture they
have made. Teacher will give 10 minutes only to solve
the puzzle.

D. ABSTRACTION

What is it about the opera? -it is a story told through words and music. The
orchestra plays the music in the pit under the stage.
On the stage, singers bring the story to life through
acting and singing the words along to the music
played by orchestra.

Who was composed the opera El Filibusterismo? -the opera El Filibusterismo was composed by
Natonal Artist Felipe Padilla de Leon in three acts,
with libretto in Filipino by Anthony Morli.

Who was composed the opera Noli Me Tangere? -the three-act Noli Me Tangere was composed by
National Artist Felipe Padilla de Leon with libretto
by National Artist Guillermo Tolentino.

E. APPLICATION
