Fraud examination: Preparation for the International CFE
Examination is one of the fastest growing areas of specialisation.
This course presents an ideal opportunity for professionals from
various disciplines to share their knowledge. The Certificate in
Fraud Examination was successfully launched in 1998 and is
continuously being refined. The composition of the programme
and method of presentation is based on the training material and
the methods of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, as
well as models used by a number of universities internationally.
This course is also presented over 10 days since it is the view of
the Unit that any shorter period of presentation will only entail a
repetition of what is contained in the comprehensive ACFE Manual
without meaningful discussions by delegates and the imparting
of practice-related knowledge by various experts in the field. By
presenting this programme over one academic year, the Unit for
Forensic Accounting at the University of Pretoria is at the forefront
in the training and development of fraud examiners.
This years course consists of two block sessions of one week
each, presented on the main campus of the University of Pretoria.

Learning outcomes
After successfully completing this course, you will be able to
• Lead to an understanding of the roles of accountants, auditors,
lawyers and fraud examiners;
• Create an awareness of the relevant legislation that governs
economic crime, including common law aspects and the law
of evidence;
• Sensitise participants on all aspects of employee and
management fraud;
• Expose participants to a wide range of case studies relating to
economic crime;
• Provide guidance on investigative techniques and tools; and
• Expose participants to best practices in fraud risk management.

Course fees
R 33 800.00 per delegate (VAT incl.)
Course fees include course material, refreshments and/or other
materials.

Admission requirements
Prospective delegates should at least have a three-year tertiary
qualification and/or relevant work experience.
