1.1.2 Summary

Enables the use of receive simplex antenna ports on the radio unit in order to
by-pass the built-in duplex filter.

1.1.3 Benefits

Dispenses with the need to use an external duplexer to combine RF signals

from antenna systems where transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) signals are not
duplexed.
1.1.4 Description

Normally antenna systems handle the Tx and Rx signals duplexed onto the
same feeder. For this reason the standard RF ports on the radio unit (both RU
and RRUS) have built in duplexers to handle the duplexed RF signal without
the need for an external duplexer.

In some cases the antenna system will need the Tx and Rx signals on
separate ports. This is the case with some distributed antenna systems (DAS)
for in-building coverage. In this case it is necessary to by-pass the built-in
duplexers in order to avoid having to re-duplex the signals with an external
duplexer. By enabling, and using, the simplex Rx-ports on the radio, the Rx
signals will bypass the internal duplexer. In this configuration the Tx signal is
connected to the standard RF port and the receive signal to a simplex Rx port.
No external duplexer is needed.
