Hello, and welcome to this English language MOOC developed for
elementary learners by Kings College London. In this MOOC, you will learn
language for everyday situations. You will become more confident in
understanding and talking in English. Each week, you will listen, read and
write answers. Fill in the gap, click a button or listen and repeat what you
hear. You can also reply to each other in the comment section.

This course will help you use English in everyday situations and help you
practise what you have learnt. You will hear people talking about the time,
what they did last weekend, and about buying a new mobile phone. They
are very busy, filling in forms, and giving directions in the city.

Listen carefully to what the characters say, and where possible, repeat
what you hear. You will also meet some new people, for example Heba,
Dina, and Ahmed. Some of the people will be talking to the university halls
of residence about accommodation, and others will be speaking to sales
assistants in shops. Do they remind you of any of your friends?

There is help with some of the instructions in your own language, but if one
section is too difficult, you can move on and come back to it at the end. Try
to find a quiet space when you're doing the MOOC, so that you can hear
the people speaking, and don't worry if you don't understand everything
first time. You can listen, read and learn as many times as you need to. I
