This operation manual contains instructions for safe, proper use o the incinerator for marine use. Prior to using the system, be sure to appoint an operation supervisor (engineer), then read and understand the manual thor- oughly. To carry out all of the operations with the manual at hand is recommended. This operation manual gives an overview of the Incinerator for marine use, its main functions, operating the pro- cedures, safety inspections and trouble shooting. Consult the operation manual of the Incinerator for operating equipment that is not described in this manual. The operating methods and the safety precautions included in this manual are to be used for only specitied pur- Posed. Do not operate the system in any other manner. We are not responsible for any consequences due to misuse of the system. Z\ DANGER 1. Indicates any condition or practice which if not observed, could result in urgent danger on personal injury and / or death including authorized distributor. Z\ WARNING 2. SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Basic Safety Precautions Z\_ WARNING When operating Shipboard Incinerator BGW-N, you must strictly adhere to the following guidelines. If you do not follow these guidelines, you could cause damage to the equipment and/or serious injury to people. 2-1 Items to be confirmed before operati Commissioning test must done by maker + Alter confirming the installation, a maintenance technician from our company, or one approved by ‘our company, do a test run of the equipment, Confirm the installation + You must check the following installation items before using Incinerator and make sure that everything is properly installed. Do not use the equipment if it is improperly installed, as this may lead to a major accident. + ts the ventilation equipment (air supply and exhaust system) properly installed? + Is the floor made of non-combustible materials? ~ Are there any leaks in the fuel pipes? Appoint someone to be in charge of the equipment. + Appoint someone to be in charge of the equipment. Such person should have thoroughly read and understood the operation manual. Do not use the equipment for other than its intended purpose. * Uniil you have a thorough understanding of the operation manual, Do not operate the equipment or perform any maintenance on it. SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Z\ WARNING When operating Shipboard Incinerator BGW-N, you must sricly adhere to the following guidelines. If you do not follow these guidelines, you could cause damage to the equipment andior serious injury to people. 2-2 Wearing of proper work clothes and protective gear | Wearing of proper work clothes * Do not wear loose fitting clothing, jewelry, etc., when operating or maintaining the equipment, as these items can become caught in valves and machinery. Also, do not wear oily clothing, as it can catch fire. Wearing of safety equipment + Remember to wear safety equipment such as helmets, goggles, safety boots. leather gloves, mask, etc., when operating the equipment Do not operate equipment with wet hands! For more information on warning labels, please contact Miura head office or representative, SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Z\ WARNING When operating Shipboard Incinerator BGW-N, you must strictly adhere to the following guidelines. if you do not follow these guidelines, you could cause damage to the equipment and/or serious injury to people. | 2-4 What to do if you notice abnormal operation If you notice unusual sounds, strange smells, fuel leakages, etc., immediately push the OFF e button of the incinerator, and close the Waste Oil and D. O. valves. How to deal with malfunctions, etc. * To handle malfunctions, etc., please contact Miura and follow the company's instructions. Do not use this equipment if the couse of the malfunction has not been eliminated. Use of malfunc- tioning equipment could result in fire, explosions, and/or other problems. 2-5 Items to note when using the incinerator Please use only designated fuel. + Ifyou use fuel that has not been designated as proper by Miura, you could cause the equipment to explode, Absolutely no fires, sparks or flames are allowed near fuel oil and flammable materials. @ = IHfites, sparks or flames come in close proximity with fuel ol, etc, it could cause a fire. + Do not keep flammable materials in the control box, as this could cause a fre + Please store combustible materials in a safe place away from fire or sparks. Use the ventilation equipment (air supply and exhaust system) during operation, * During operation of the equipment, please have the ventilator fan running and do not cover the ventilation opening. Blockage of this opening could lead 1o incomplete burning that could produce the toxic gas carbon monoxide and/or cause the equipment to expiode. Do not carelessly touch the equipment du 1g operation * During operation, please do not touch any part of the equipment except for the controls. Touching other parts of the equipment could result in electric shock, burns, or other serious problems. SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Z\ WARNING When operating Shipboard Incinerator BGW-N, you must strictly adhere to the following guidelines. If you do not follow these guidelines, you could cause damage to the equipment and/or serious injury to people. 2-6 Operation of the door ‘When opening the door, please go by the following procedure to ensure your safety. Failure to follow this safety procedure could result in serious damage and/or bodily injury! 1. When incineration has ended, make sure alll the solid waste has been burned, then turn the inciner- ator off. Please look through the sight window to make sure there is no residual flame or smoke before turning the incinerator off. 2, Make sure the cooling system runs for at least 4 hours after incineration has ended. 3. Make sure that incineration chamber is a sufficiently low temperature 4, Betore opening the door, look through the sight window again to make sure there is no residual flame or smoke insider the incinerator. When opening the door, make sure you stand away from the opening, just in case there is some backfire. The charging door and ash removal door should be locked under the following conditions. if any of these conditions occur, you cannot open ar close the doors. + Alarm is activated, + Incinerator temperature is 220°C or higher. + During Cooling operation (about 4 hours). + Incinerator is in operation (alt stages of incineration, including prepurging and cooling) + There is no power supply. If you do not follow these guidelines, you could cause damage to the equipment and/or serious injury to people. | 2-7 Preparation of fire extinguishers and first aid kits Preparation of fire extinguishers and first aid kits Place a fire extinguisher. *To prepare for possible emergencies, please place a fire extinguisher in a nearby easily reached location and be sure you know how to use i. Have a first aid kit available. + Find a suitable place to keep a first aid kit and have it ready there for possible emergency. 2-8 Do not make any modifications, Use the genuine products for the parts + Do not make any modification without our approval. We may not be able to permit such modification by regulations. + Moreover, such modification could compromise safety. What to do when relocating equipment or selling the ship Ifyou transfer the equipment or sell your ship, please contact Miura + The operation of the incinerator requires proper installation and supplementary equipment. if you transfer the equipment or sell your ship, please contact Miura. Unauthorized installation, operation, connection with supplementary equipment, ete., could cause damage to the equipment and/or serious injury to people. Ityou sell a ship equipped with this incinerator, please give the buyer this user's manual. * Since this user's manual is required for proper operation of the incinerator, please give it to the buyer if you sell your ship. SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Z\ WARNING ‘When operating Shipboard Incinerator BGW-N, you must strictly adhere to the following guidelines. if you do not follow these guidelines, you could cause damage to the equipment and/or serious injury to people. 2-10 Notice of substances and area for incineration There are attentions as follow to operate Miura Shipboard Incinerator properly. 1. Incineration of substances specified in (4) and (6), Regulation 16, Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention is to be prohibited. < Prohibited Material > 16-(4}(a) = Cargo residues and related contaminated packing materials that is mentioned on MARPOL Annex I, II and II 16-(4)(b) _: Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) 16-(4)(c) _: Garbage, as defined in Annex V of MARPOL 73/78, containing more than traces of heavy metals 16-(4)-(d)__: Refined petroleum products containing halogen compounds 16-6) : Shipboard incineration of potyvinyi chlorides (PVCs) is admitted on Incinerator that has IMO Type Approval Certificate; however, incineration is not recommended considering environmental regulations. 2. If areas exist in which incineration is prohibited by the Administration of the coastal state where the ship is expected to ply, incineration is to be prohibited in such areas. 3. Incineration work is to be carried out according to the procedures given in the onboard incinerator manual as specification in (7), Regulation 16, Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention. Miura Shipboard Incinerator has IMO Type Approval Certificate; to operate shipboard incinerator properly and keep incinerate performance, we ask you to read operation manual carefully and follow procedures. 10 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR | 3. Emergency shutdown switch This switch shuts off the power Supply during an emergency 19 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR 5. — Inspections and Preparations before Start-up Please check the following items before starting operation of the incinerator: Cleaning the furnace 1. Tum the Breaker on to confirm the temperature of the furnace. 2. Make sure that the furnace is sufficiently cool. 3. From the sight window, please make sure that there is no fire or smoke still inside the fumace. If fire or unburned gas remains, do not open the charging door, as you could cause a fire or be bumed by backfire. 4, Open the charging door. Z\ WARNING ‘When opening the door, stand to the side and not in front to avoid injury that might be caused by backfire. 5. Hard ash that remains in the incineration chamber should be pushed through the grate to the burner chamber below. Even if the temperature of the incineration chamber is low, unburned materials and ash can still be hot and cause burns. 6. Please make sure that the grates are evenly spaced. If the spacing is not even, please re-artange the grates so thal they are evenly spaced. If the spacing is not even, the solid waste will not completely incinerate, and an incineration will take more time. 20 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR 7. Stick the cleaning rod up about 150 mm into the air pipe that is in the solid waste incineration chamber, and make sure the air holes are clean and allow air to pass through. NOTE Iv the air pipe is blocked or closed, it wll take much longer for solid waste to burn. 8. Inspect the inside of the furnace and make sure that there is no damage, such as a collapsed castable. 9. Open the ash removal door and rubbish away the ash. Z\ WARNING + Even if the temperature of the incineration chamber is low, unburned materials and ash can still be hot and cause burns. + Put removed ash into a fireproof container, close tightly, and cool to prevent the risk of fire. + When opening the door, stand to the side and not in front to avoid injury that might be caused by backfire. 10. Inspect the inside of the furnace and make sure that there is no damage, such as a collapsed castable, Then close the ash removal door. NOTE When the charging and ash removal doors are open, for your safety do not burn anything. Close the door, ang turn the handle until it stops completely at SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Preparing the pipe arrangement 1. Remove the sludge that has accumulated on the bottom. Z\ WARNING {f there is too much shudge, it could clog up and damage the equipment and misfire. 2. Heat the waste oil in the waste oil tank to 90°C. NOTE + Waste oil that is particularly viscous should be heated to about 100°C. * Also heat oil to 100°C when there is high water content, then drain. 3. Adequately drain the inside of the tank during and after the heating of the waste oil tank. 4, Ita smoke damper is installed, the damper should be completely open. 5, Open the D. O. tank valve. NOTE Use the D.O. for start-up and for stopping incineration. This will prevent clogging of the pipes and damage to equipment, 6. Open the valve for the air atomizer. 7. Confirm the pressure gauge valve is open. Always use the pressure gauge valve in the state of the opening excluding the maintenance work. 8. Make sure that there is no fuel leakage in the fuel pipes. 22 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR 6. Operation Introduction Shipboard incinerator BGW-N can process both solid waste and waste oil. The basic cycle is one incineration of solid waste and 6-8 hours of oil incineration per day. Solid waste is charged, then the waste oil bumer is ignited to incinerate both the oil and the solid waste. After all the solid waste is gone, only the waste oil is incinerated. After all incineration is completed, the burner is allowed to coo! until the next day. Then the ash should be removed before the next incineration cycle begins. In order to incinerate all the solid and oil wastes produced on your ship as well as to use the ‘equipment safely, we ask you to plan your operations so they are close to the basic incineration cycle. Start-up (waste oil incineration) 1. Go to Chapter 5 (Inspections and Preparations before Start-up) [=r 2, Turn the "Cooling Fan" switch to the "ON" position. (When the cooling fan lamp will ight up). ‘on, the cooling fan Z\ WARNING ‘The cooling fan must be continuously on between incineration and cooling operations. If it is tured off at such time, workers could get bumed or the equipment could be damaged. 3. Turn the "Combustion changeover" switch to "Waste Oil only" Z\_ WARNING 1f the waste cit does not burn easily, tun the "Combustion changeover" switch to "Waste Oil With + Aux". At this position, the pilot burner will continue to operate with the waste oil burner. 4, Push the "Combustion" button. + After prepurging, ignite and commence automatic incineration, + When the burner ignites, the "Combustion" lamp will be lighted, 23 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR 5, Before incinerating waste oil, preheat the incinerator by burning about 15 minutes' worth of waste with diesel oil (D.0.) ‘At this time, the lever of the 3-directional valve at the top of the waste oil pump should be turned up so that .0. does not flow into the waste oil tank.In addition, do not pass a seam trace through the waste oil ine, since this may damage the equipment. ° 6. Make sure that the waste oil tank is sufficiently heated (about 90°C), then open the waste oil tank outtlow valve. 7. Close the D.O. tank valve. 8, Tum down the lever of the 3-directional valve at the top of the waste oil pump, and return excess oil to the waste oil tank. 9. Adjust the flow adjustment valve of the bumer entrance to match the incineration conditions. NOTE + For proper incineration, you must adjust the flow to match the conditions of the waste oil. + Mode! BGW-N is adjusted so that the flow adjustment valve will completely open when waste oil is bumed. However, when the caloric content of the oil is high, the cock should be adjusted accordingly. This is because over-input could cause damage inside the incinerator. (Please, adjust the temperature inside the incinerator to 900-1000.) (Please record the waste oil pump inlet pressure and the waste oil bummer inlet pressure of the waste oil ine as the measurement.) 24 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR J | items to inspect during operation | ZX WARNING If you detect unusual sounds, smells, black smoke, etc., during operation, immediately push the "Combustion stop" button and close the waste oil and D.O. oll valves. If you do not do this, a fire or explosion could occur. + If you detect malfunctions, abnormalities, etc., contact Miura head office. Do not use the incinerator until the problems have been resolved. Operating this equipment when there is a malfunction could result in a fire or explosion. + Make sure that black smoke, white smoke, etc., are not coming out from the chimney. + Make sure that there are no strange noises coming from the fan, waste oil pump, etc., during operation, + Make sure that the oil pressure and air pressure gauges are not showing abnormally high values, ler + Make sure that no fuelis leaking. 25 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR Shut-down 4. Open the D.O. tank valve. 2, Close the waste oil tank valve. 3. Continue burning in this condition then replace the waste oil in the pipes with 0.0. After that, the lever of the 3-directional valve at the top of the waste oil pump should be returned to the upright position so that D.. does not flow back in to the retum pipe. 4, Continue burning for another 10-20 minutes and replace the waste oil stil in the pipes with D.0. Z\ CAUTION + Waste oil in the pipes of this equipment should be replaced with D.O. otherwise, you could cause damage to gauges, pumps, etc. + Make sure that, continue burning for another 10-20 minutes. Inadequate replacement could cause damage to the equipment NOTE A this time, gradually close the flow adjustment valve to adjust the incineration. 5. Push the "Combustion Stop" button. + This will stop incineration in the bumer, and the “Combustion” lamp will shut off. 26 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR 6. Turn the "Cooling Fan" switch to the OFF position. + The cooling fan will then turn off automatically after 4 hours of cooling operation. + Do not turn the Breaker off! This will shut off the cooling fan and stop the operation of the incinerator. + Turing off the cooling fan before the unit has cooled sufficiently could cause damage to the incinerator. + When turn the breaker OFF-ON again during cooling operation, cooling timer (4 hours) starts and cooling ‘operation keeps operating for rest of timer continues, + The door is locked during cooling timer operation. Do not open the chargeing or ash removal doors until the unit has sufficiently cooled. Remove the copper pipe fiting at the waste oil entrance, loosen the set screws at the three loca- tions on the nozzle pipe, then pull the nozzle pipe off toward the end of the burner, 7. Make sure there is nothing clogging the inside of the nozzle. 8. Use a wire brush to scrape off soot that is adhering to the burner and to the shroud. The fuel and air sprayers at the end of the bumer should be cleaned so that soot, etc., do not clog them. 35 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR ‘| 9. Reassemble the bumer in the exact opposite order that it was disassembled. NOTE * Check the dimensions of the burner, then tighten the hexagonal lock bolts of the burner with the same lightness. If the burner is not correctly assembled, the atomizer will not work properly. resulting in poor incineration, poor ignition, and maybe even an explosion. + The nozzle pipe should be fixed by pushing it toward the nozzle case, and tightening the screws al the three locations evenly. + After assembly, make sure thal everything has been assembled with the proper dimensions. 10, Make sure that the copper pipe fitting is tightened securely. Put the end of the vinyl tube that is attached to the air release valve of the solenoid pump into a container. 3. Turn the "Cooling Fan" ON to run the cooling fan. 4, Push the "Combustion" button. 5. Loosen the air release valve. Turn the air release vaive of the solenoid pump at least one turn. Failure to do so could result in the spraying of oil. 6. Make sure that all air has been released and that only oil comes out + Ifnot all air is released, repeat Steps 4 to 8. Z\ WARNING + Finish above operations during prepurges. You can make adjustments by pushing down on the adjustment lever on the bottom of the atomizer air pressure regulating valve (pressure regulating valve for atomized air) 2, The waste oil incinerator is activated following the procedure in Chapter 6, Operation. 3. Adjust the pressure by moving the regulator lever. 4, Alter making adjustments, push the lever up until it locks. NOTE Raising the atomizing air pressure tends to improve combustibitiy, f the waste oll is in bad condition, adjust the pressure to around 0.12 MPa. © Adjusting the waste oil pressure * Shipboard Incinerator BGW-N has been preadjusted at the factory, so that it will provide the proper flow. Therefore, DO NOT TOUCH the pressure regulating valvel! Under normal conditions, switching between diesel oil and waste oil can be done using the flow adjustment valve. + By tightening the pressure regulating valve for oil in the waste oil pipe, you can raise the secondary pressure and increase the flow of waste oll. Loosening the valve will decrease flow. © Adjusting the diesel oil pressure + Since the solenoid pump is set to the proper position (pressure), DO NOT touch it on ship. + Diesel oil pressure can be adjusted by turning the adjustment screw on the solenoid pump. 4 SHIPBOARD INCINERATOR How to adjust the air for the burner | The air supplied for incineration in the burner is adjusted by the damper on the burner fan. Since this damper also regulates the temperature in the furnace, it should not be touched. Damper open: Incineration air increases, reducing the temperature inside the furnace. Damper close: Incineration air decreases, increasing the temperature inside the furnace. + Oxygen concentration and temperature inside the furnace is determined by MEPC76 (40). + Adjusting the position of the damper will not only cause incineration settings to stray from proper ‘values, it will also cause the "Furnace Temperature” and “Fumace Pressure High" warning light to ‘come on. Make sure the "Exhaust Gas Temperature High” alarm comes on. @ Furnace pressure high 1. During incineration, remove the conduit leading to the fumace pressure switch. 2. When the "Furnace Pressure high" warming comes on, stop incineration. Z\ CAUTION Operation the warning test switch in tuning off usually. After confirmation of incineration, open the door of the control panel and tum the "Low Furnace Temperature" switch ON. CHES and 0 will be displayed alternately, with a temporary value set at 0°C. 8, During incineration, CHEG and 1100 will be displayed altemately, with a temporary value set at 1100°C. At this time, make sure the "Fumace Temperature Drop" alarm comes on and that incin- eration stops. 4. When the test switch is turned OFF, nord and 800 will be displayed alternately. APPLICABLE FLUID You should notice that the trochoid pump is designed to use with oils although it is used for various applications. A\ caution 1) All the pumps listed in the catalog are designed and rated with ISO VGS56 turbine oi! at 400C unless otherwise specified. Accordingly. the pump performance and durability may vary when itis @ used with other oil. In such a case, it is recommended to consult us. Since the sliding parts and bearings in the trochoid pump are lubricated by the fluid handled by it, no fluid can be used that does not have the lubricating function. In addition, no corrosive liquids or water can be handled by it. either. 2) When the fuel oil is to be handled by the trochoid pump. oils having the low viscosity corresponding to that of kerosene can be handled. Further. it is necessary to pay sufficient attention since the maximum operating pressure is substantially limited. ZX WARNING The pump can not handle volatile oils such as gasoline. Explosion or fire may result in case such a volatile oil is handled. It is requested 10 consult us when the fuel oil is to be handled by the pump since some of the fuel oils may swell the standard oil seal. The ‘operating temperature for the trochoid pumps with the motor ranges from -10°C to +40°C. TEMPERATURE AND VISCOSITY OF FLUID IN USE ‘The operating temperature for the trochoid pump ranges from -5°C to +80°C. The viscosity of the fluid in @ 1% ra18¢8 10 rams to 500 ms. A\ caution The operating life and performance of the trochoid pump may be substantially reduced and liquid leakage may occur when it is operated outside the ranges specified above. Be sure to install the supporting devices (pipe supports) so that the dead weight of the pipe will not be loaded onto the pump. The pipe connection on the pump may crack when the pipe is tightened to the torque exceeding those specified above. Av CAUTION 2) Be sure to use clean pipes and fittings. It is necessary to clean the internal surface of the pipes and fitting prior to connecting them to the pump. Dusts may have been accumulated in them during the storage, or there are remaining machining chips after the threading operation. Z\ caution Insufficient cleaning of the pipes and fitting may resuit in the pump or other equipment failure SUCTION AND DISCHARGE PIPES AND FILTERS ) 2) Suction capacity of the pump The suction head for the trochoid pump needs to be limited al a maximum of one meter above it when it is operated in the revolution speed range of 1,000 to 2,500 min“'. Or, the suction pressure at the pump inlet with the oil sucked needs to be limited at a maximum of -0,03MPa or lower (to the direction closer to the atmospheric pressure). Piping method for the suction side a, The pipe diameter needs to be selected to assure the maximum liquid flow velocity of 1.5 misec. inside the suction pipe. %. Pers perms: ‘ble uN CAUTION Air sucked into the pipe or bubbles in the pipe results in excessive pump vibration, noise, or heat generation. 3) Piping method for the discharge side ‘ Select the discharge pipe size that gives the maximum fluid velocity of 3 m/sec 4) Selection of the suction filter The suction filter needs to be installed. AX caution The operating life of the pump will be substantially reduced when foreign materials are mixed in the oil. In some cases, the pump may fracture. The filter needs periodical cleaning. Abnormal noise, excessive vibration or low discharge pressure may result which in turn feads to the pump failure when the pump is operated with the filter clogged. 6. DRIVE METHOD 1) Relationship between the rotating direction and flow direction The rotating direction and flow direction of the trochoid pump are fixed except for some reversible models. Accordingly, be sure to operate the pump in proper rotating direction and flow direction. ZX caution The oil seal may be damaged which will result in splashing the oil when the pump is operated in the wrong rotating direction or flow direction. The pump mechanism is as follows. @ As shown in the figure to the left, the oil is discharged (o the discharge port. When the back pressure acts on the discharged oil, the oil passes through the bearing A. lubricates the ball bearing. and stopped by the 6 oil seal. When the pressure increases to around 0.1 MPa (1 kef/em:) as indicated by the pressure gage. the seal ruptures and the oil splashes toward outside the pump. A small hole. B, is provide to return the oil to the suction port of the Pump. In other words, the oil trapped in the space C is always returned to the suction port of the pump. S When the pump is rotated in the wrong direction. the suction port und discharge port are reversed, which in turn causes the discharged oil pressure to directly act on the oil seal via the small hole B, Further. since there is no oi! passage to relieve the pressure. the seal w rupture soon and ends up in leaking the oil. When the oil seal ruptures it must be replaced since its lip is damaged. Please consult us when replacing the oil seal. Inlet 2) Drive method ‘The trochoid pump is designed to be directly driven by the motor, Please consult us when the pump is to be driven using the method that result in loading of the pump along the radial direction or thrust direction. 3) Safety measures Be sure to mount a protection device on the drive so that the finger, hand, or other object will not be rolled in. Z\ WARNING Unexpected injury may result when the finger, hand, or other object is rolled in, 7. INSTALLATION METHOD 1) Installation location Do not operate the pump in the dusty, cold. or hot environment. (See the operating ambient temperature range under the item 2.) Please consult us when the pump is to be operated in a special environment other than the normal indoor environment. 2) Installation of the trochoid pump with the built-in motor Do not install the pump so that the pump is located at an elevated location than the motor. AX caution ‘The motor may be damaged when the pump is installed improperly. 8, COOLANT APPLICATION The operating durability of the pump substantially varies from one coolant application to another since it is not possible to specify the operating conditions such as the density, properties, and type of the machining chip, and operating pressure. Please consult us when the pump is to be used for the coolant application. e 9. RELIEF VALVE 1) Selection of the relief valve The relief valve can be used either as a safety valve or pressure regulating valve. Depending on the application, there are two types of relief valves available; external drain type and internal drain type. ZX. WARNING 1) When an internal return systyem relief valve is used as the safety valve, do not operate the pump for moré than 30 seconds with the valve on the discharge side of the pump completely closed. Our standard motors are designed to rotate in the proper direction when the cables are connected to the motor as shown below, which may be different from other general purpose motors. Av CAUTION Note that the connection method is different for the reversible models. b) Standard rotating direction When viewed from the motor TOP-1ME Counterclockwise rotation TOP-2MY Counterclockwise rotation ‘TOP-3MF Clockwise rotation Pump motor provided with the base Be sure to check the proper rotating direction of the pump since different connection method may be required other than that stated above. * Confirm that the pamp is filled with clean oil * Confirm that the pipes and fittings are securely connected without being loosened. * Confirm that the valves installed on the upstream side and downstream side of the pump are fully opened. ‘Commence the operation after confirming the points stated above 2) Break in operation a) Unloaded operation Do not operate the pump for more than 10 seconds with it unloaded (without pumping the oil). Immediately stop the pump operation if it fails to suck the oil b) When the pump fails to suck the oil Check for the following items which are the likely causes for the problem. * Resistance on the discharge side is too high. Resistance on the suction side is too high or the suction pipe length is too high, Only the air is sucked (air leakage from the pipe) There is no oil in the pump or the suction pipe end is not immersed in the cil. Revolution speed of the pump is too low. * * 11. SAFETY DEVICE AND SAFETY OPERATION 1) Safety device a) Be sure to install the earth leakage breaker and overload protector. Install other safety devices as required according to the?Electrical Facility Engineering Standard?. b) Be sure to install the flow meter or pressure sensor at the pump outlet so that unloaded pump operation can be immediately detected, and to prevent the seizure of the bearing, ©) The pump oil seal or gaskets are subject to wear and eventual failure. Accordingly. the pump should be located at a safe location or the protection device should be installed on it so that no human injury or equipment damage will be caused upon their failure, 2) Safety operation Do not touch the pump or motor during its operation or immediately after stopping the operation, Z\ WARNING ‘One may burn when the motor or pump is touched since it may be overheated to a substantially high temperature 3) Protection for the children or persons who can not judge the hazard Do not allow anyone such as a child to approach or touch the motor or pump who can not judge the hazard. 12. ROUTINE INSPECTION 1) Startup inspection Be sure to carry out the startup inspection. In particular, check the pump and motor for any oil leakage, abnormal noise, or excessive heat generation. ' 2) Routine inspection Be sure to carry out the routine inspection by a minimum of once or twice every year to confirm satisfactory pump and motor conditions when it is to be used as a vital safety equipment. It is recommended that the inspection be carried out by the factory approved by us. 3) Spare parts Space seals are available in a seal kit. Replace the seals regularly.
