Self-test
After the alarm function has been turned on
using the black button on the hand transmitter,
the electronic unit carries out a self-test. In this
way, the detection entrances are tested. If there
is a fault present in a detection entrance, a short
horn signal will follow. The relevant circuit is
automatically switched off. This horn signal is
given 8 seconds after the door locking
command is ended. Then the fault can be read
out via the flashing code.
Flashing code
After the horn signal, the system LED indicates
which detection entrance has given the fault
message with a flashing code. The flashing
code consists of a number (2-8) of flashes of the
system LED, followed by a longer pause. This is
repeated for thirty seconds. After that, the
system LED will flash normally, as the start lock
is automatically switched on again. The flashing
code is discontinued if the alarm is turned off
using the green button on the hand transmitter.
If there is a fault present in more than one
detection entrance, the fault with the longest
flashing code (2-8) is indicated. In order to read
out the following fault therefore, first of all the
fault in the indicated detection entrance must be
fixed and then, by repeating the self test, the
following fault will automatically be shown by the
flashing code.

Alarm system C3000/24V

Note:
If the system has started functioning, the same
flashing code is shown as in the self-test
function. After the system has been switched off
with the green button on the hand transmitter,
the system LED indicates the flashing code for a
further 30 seconds. Via the flashing code, it can
then be read out which detection entrance the 1
alarm system has activated. The flashing code
is stopped if the contact is switched on, or if the
system is again switched on with the hand
transmitter.

ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
System description

The alarm system is a break-in/theft protection

that reacts to a number of signals.
The (input) signals that the alarm system can
set in function come from various
sensors/switches.
For this, you can make a distinction between
exterior detection and interior protection.
The exterior detection switches are:
- door switches (12/13)
- grille switch (11)
2 - switch in the tilting mechanism (10)
The sensors of the interior protection are:
- ultrasonic detector (9)
- radar detector (8)
On switching on the alarm, two protection
systems will directly begin functioning, namely a
start interrupter and a fuel lock.
The start interrupter is put into practice by
interrupting the wire to the starter relay (4).
The fuel lock can be put into practice using a
fuel lock valve (3) on the fuel pump or at the
UPEC and Celect motor management system,
by interrupting the power supply wire of the
UPEC/Celect electronic unit.
If a message comes from a sensor or a switch,
the horn (1) will be set in operation and the
indicator lamps will also be activated.
The system LED (7) indicates the status of the
alarm system and the alarm memory.
The hand transmitter (6) is for activating and
de-activating the system.
The battery set (15) is an emergency power
provision. This is compulsory with the BV3
systems.
The current limiter (14) is applicable on vehicles
for the transport of hazardous goods. This
ensures that the maximum current on a main
switch that is switched off is limited to 150 mA.

1.2 ACTIVATING AND DE-ACTIVATING THE SYSTEM

The system is activated by pressing the red

button (A) on the hand transmitter. The direction
indicator lamps are activated once. Referring to
the flashing lights, check whether the system is
working.
The doors, grille, cab tilting mechanism and the
interior are now protected. In addition, the
possibility of starting the engine is locked and
optionally the fuel supply.
A B 2
AC000244
The system LED will flash at a slow rate after
approx. 1 minute. The system is now fully
operational. If the vehicle is provided with
central door locking, the doors will also be
locked.
When the green button (B) is pressed, the
system switches itself off. This is made visible
by the fact that the direction indicator lamps are
activated three times.
If central door locking is used, the doors will be
unlocked when the system is switched off.

1.3 SELF TEST

The alarm system is provided with an extended

self-diagnosis function. After activation, all alarm
circuits are automatically tested.
If a fault is found in one or more alarm circuits,
the relevant circuit is automatically locked. You
are made aware of this by a short signal from
the horn.

 9905 1-3
ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
System description

1.4 SWITCHING OFF THE INTERIOR PROTECTION

If anyone remains inside the vehicle, the system

may only be used if the interior protection is
switched off. This avoids needless setting off of
the alarm.
Switching off the interior protection is done as
follows:
1. Turn off the contact.

2 2. Within five seconds, press the red button on

the hand transmitter.
3. The system’s system LED now lights up
continually for five seconds.
4. Activate the alarm system. The interior
circuit is now switched off.

1.5 GARAGE MODE

The CA24R and CA34R units have a garage

mode. This entails that the start lock is not
automatically switched on. As a warning that the
start lock is not switched on, the electronic unit
will give a warning signal every 20 seconds with
the flashing lights and the horn as long as the
contact is switched on.
The garage mode is switched on and off as
follows:
1. Check that the system LED is not flashing.
2. Open the driver’s door.
3. Turn the contact on.
4. Press the red or green button on the hand
transmitter three times.
Note:
- You must still press the button on the hand
transmitter for the first time within five
seconds after switching on the contact.
- Always keep the hand transmitter button
depressed until the LED in the hand
transmitter goes out itself (only then is the
full code sent).

1.6 SYNCHRONISING THE HAND TRANSMITTER/ELECTRONIC UNIT

If the LED on the hand transmitter flashes when

the hand transmitter button is pressed but the
system does not react, the electronic unit has
probably received a “distorted” code as the
result of a fault source (for example a mobile
phone, detection loop in the road surface).
In this case, the hand transmitter and the
electronic unit can be synchronised in the
following way: 2
1. Open the driver’s door.
2. Turn the contact on.
3. Press the red button once after switching
on the contact (within 5 seconds).
If this is carried out correctly and the
electronic unit once again recognises the
hand transmitter, the flashing lights will
flash five times.
4. Turn off the contact.
5. If the system LED is flashing, press the
green button. The alarm system is now
switched off.

1-6 9905
ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

2. DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
2.1 ELECTRONIC UNIT

There are two types of electronic unit, namely

the CA24R and the CA34R(D).
The CA24R is used for protection classes BV1
and BV2. e
Typ 24R
CA Vcc
This is a “non-intelligent” system, which means 24
that the control of the fuel lock valve (if fitted) is
achieved using an uncoded signal. 2

AC 000047

The CA34R and CA34RD are used for

protection classes BV2 and BV3. These are
“intelligent” systems.
With the BV2 systems, control of the fuel lock
e
valve can be achieved using a coded signal, Typ 24R
CA Vcc
while with the BV3 systems, a coded signal is 24

always used.
If control of the fuel lock valve is achieved with a
coded signal, you should program this electronic
unit so that the electronic unit and the fuel lock
CODE CA34R
valve can “communicate” with each other. The
CA34RD can be programmed with DAVIE, while
the CA34R should be programmed with a
calibration unit.
AC 000049

ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

Under the black covering plate, you can find two

sliding switches, a potentiometer and a green
A B A B

2
and red setting LED (these are found to the
right, next to the potentiometer)

1
Using the potentiometer, you can set the
sensitivity of the ultrasonic detection. The green
and red LED are helpful for this. The green LED
should be activated by a slight movement of the

2
arm. Although the electronic unit will register -

1
+
something, it will not begin to function. The red
2 LED should also be activated by a more forceful
movement. The alarm system must now begin
to function.
Using the sliding switches, the following
functions can be set:
Switch 1
Time required for central door locking e
Typ 24R
CA Vcc
Position A: 1 second 24
Position B: 5 seconds
Switch 2
Position A: combined detection (ultrasonic and
radar) CODE CA34R
Position B: ultrasonic detection K100744

2.2 FUEL LOCK VALVE

There are two versions of the fuel lock valve, a

standard fuel lock valve and an “intelligent” fuel
lock valve.
The standard fuel lock valve has a 2-pin
connection. There is only one type of this sort.
The fuel supply opening can be changed by
turning the fuel lock valve round. With the
“intelligent” fuel lock valve, this is not possible.

K100777

2-2 9905
ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

The “intelligent” fuel lock valve should be

programmed with the calibration unit or with
DAVIE, depending on the type of electronic unit.
The “intelligent” fuel lock valve has a 7 or 8-pin
connection.
In order to guarantee the vehicle’s safety from
theft, the fuel lock valve has no emergency
function. If a fault can not be helped, the vehicle
can only be driven after the fuel lock valve has
been removed.
The fuel lock valve only opens itself if the
electronic unit is in rest mode (off). That is why it
2
is of the greatest importance that no faults
occur, for example, due to a discharged battery
in the hand transmitter. It is strongly advised
that the driver always carries a spare battery.
The fuel lock valve opens a maximum of
2 seconds after the contact is turned on. If the
contact key is turned too quickly to the start
position, it can happen that the fuel lock valve is
not yet open and is immediately pressed closed
by the fuel boost pressure.
The correct manner of starting is therefore: first,
leave the key on contact for 2 seconds, only
then turn it to the start position.
K100778

2.3 VF ENGINE FUEL LOCK FACILITY

No fuel lock valve is used on the VF engine. In

place of it, a lock is achieved using an
interruption in the electronic circuit. A
For this, you interrupt the supply voltage of the C
Celect unit (in connector C), using an “electronic
relay”.
In order to protect this interruption against B
sabotage, the unit is fitted on a base plate (A),
and it can be entirely sealed off with a covering
cap (B). This is fastened using a lock.

ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

2.4 ULTRASONIC DETECTOR

The ultrasonic detector, together with the radar

detector forms part of the interior protection.
The ultrasonic detector consists of two sensors:
a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter
sends a high-frequency sound wave at a
frequency of 40 kHz (not audible to people),
which is picked up by the receiver. If a (small)
distortion of the sound wave occurs, the green
2 LED on the electronic unit will be activated as a
sign that the ultrasonic sensors have registered
something.
With a greater distortion of the sound wave, the
red LED will be activated and the alarm will go
off. The sensitivity of the ultrasonic sensors can
be set with the potentiometer on the electronic
unit.
AC000007

2.5 RADAR DETECTOR

The radar detector together with the ultrasonic

detector forms part of the interior protection.
W15C
The radar detector sends a radio wave out. This MICROW
AVE DETE
CTOR M

wave rebounds against metal and the detector

can pick up this wave again. The detector reacts
to a distortion of the received wave by activating
an electronic unit input.
Advantages of the radar detector are:
the radar detector does not react to air currents
and works through plastic, so that it can be
hidden in the dashboard.
A disadvantage of the radar detector is:
the radar detector also detects through glass. If
fitted incorrectly, it will give a false alarm when K100750

there is movement outside the vehicle.

Note:
- The detection does not go through metal.
Take account of this in the event of any
later fitting of, for example, a mobile
telephone or a fridge.
- The sensitivity of the radar sensor can be
adjusted in the same way as the ultrasonic
sensor.

ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

2.6 HORN

The horn is connected with four wires: a power

supply, an earth, a switch wire and a steering
wire.
If the alarm system is in guard position, the
steering wire places a charge on the electronic
unit. In this way, the horn switches on the
sabotage protection. If one of the three
connections is then broken, the horn will work
on the vehicle voltage or on the internal battery.
If the battery pole of the vehicle or the horn
K100757
2
must be uncoupled without the horn being
activated, this can be carried out five minutes
after the alarm is switched off with the hand
transmitter.

2.7 HAND TRANSMITTER

The hand transmitters are type TX36 and are

provided with a green and a red button.
When operating one of the buttons, the LED on
the hand transmitter will flash. When the code is K100749
sent, the LED goes out.
The electronic unit can store two hand
transmitters in its memory.

2.8 CAB LOCKING SWITCH

For the alarm system, an extra cab-locking

switch is fitted.
There are two models, namely:
- a mechanical switch (fitted on 65/75/85
(CF) and F95).

AC000247

- a proximity switch (fitted to the 95 XF).

AC000284

 9905 2-5
ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

2.9 GRILLE SWITCH

The grille switch is in the form of a magnetic

switch consisting of two parts: a magnetic part
(A) and a switch part (B).
In the switch part, there is a micro switch
(reed-contact).

K100765

Switching the micro switch is achieved if the

distance between the two parts is greater than
about 7 cm.
The solenoid switch must never be connected
parallel to other consumers, such as the interior
lighting. The magnetic switch is intended for
switch currents of a few mA. The internal
contacts are not resistant to higher currents.
K100764

2.10 BATTERY SET

With BV3 systems, an extra battery set must be

fitted. In this way, the alarm system can keep
working if the vehicle voltage is lost. The battery
set can be connected to the board voltage. The
electronics ensure that the built-in batteries are
only charged when the engine is running.

K100769

2-6 9905
ALARM SYSTEM CA24R/CA34R
Description of components

2.11 CURRENT LIMITER

On vehicles for transport of hazardous goods,

there must be a maximum electrical current of
150 mA when the main switch is switched off.
An emergency current provision as a battery set
is not permitted, the battery in the horn is
permitted. Because the alarm system must
remain working, the alarm system is connected
via a current limiter.
The current limiter actually works as an
electronic fuse. When the board voltage is
2
switched off, the current limiter keeps providing
the alarm system with electricity. As soon as
there is too much current, the current limiter
interrupts the power supply to the electronic unit
and the horn. The horn will work from the built-in K100770
battery.
The current limiter is only reset by the switching
on of the board voltage. The horn will be
switched off and the electronic unit can be
operated again with the hand transmitter.

Inspection and adjustment

3. INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT

3.1 IMPORTANT POINTS OF ATTENTION WHEN CHECKING THE SYSTEM

1. Before the system is controlled, you must

be sure that the sensitivity of the radar and
ultrasonic detection is set properly. This has
a significant influence on the proper
functioning of the system. A faulty setting
can result in a self-test alarm or a false
alarm. 2
2. Always turn off the contact first when
removing or fitting a connector.
3. In order to avoid damage to the connector
connections, through connections to the
rear side of the connector must be made
when measuring.
V300037
4. Also inspect whether the connector
connections are in order.

3.5 PROGRAMMING THE HAND TRANSMITTER(S)

Note:
- The hand transmitters are programmed as
standard. If desired, (new) hand
transmitters can be programmed, for K100749
example if lost or stolen. It is possible to
program a maximum of 2 hand transmitters.
- While programming the hand transmitter,
the “old” programmed hand transmitter is
wiped from the hand transmitter. Therefore,
only start the programming procedure when
2
all hand transmitters are present.
1. Connect the programming wire from
connector 1, connection point 10 of the
electronic unit temporarily to earth.
2. Check that the system LED is not flashing.
3. Open the driver’s door.
4. Turn the contact on.
5. Successively press the red button of the
original hand transmitter then the red button
of the new hand transmitter and then the
button of the original hand transmitter.
Note:
- With these functions, it is still necessary to
press the button of the hand transmitter for
the first time within five seconds of
switching on the contact.
- Always keep the button depressed so long
that the LED in the hand transmitter goes
out by itself (only then will the complete
code be sent).
6. Remove the programming wire again from
the earth.

ALARM SYSTEM C3000/24V
System description

The alarm system is a break in/theft protection

that reacts to a number of signals.
The (input) signals that the alarm can put in
motion come from various sensors/switches.
In this way, you can differentiate between
exterior and interior protection.
The exterior protection switches are:
- door switches (12/13)
- grille switch (11)
- Switch in the tilting mechanism (10)
The interior protection switches are:
- ultrasonic detector (9)
- radar detector (8)
3 When you switch the alarm on, two protection
systems will directly begin functioning, namely a
start interruption and a fuel lock.
The start interruption is achieved by interrupting
the wire to the starter relay (4).
You can achieve the fuel lock by using a fuel
lock valve (3) on the fuel pump or with the
UPEC and Celect engine management systems,
by interrupting the power supply wire from the
UPEC/Celect electronic unit.
If a message comes from a sensor or a switch,
the horn (1) will be made to function and the
direction indicator lamps (2) will also be
activated.
The system LED (7) indicates the status of the
alarm system and the alarm memory.
The hand transmitter (6) is used to activate and
deactivate the system.
Using the emergency key holder and emergency
key (5), the alarm system can be switched off if
the alarm system no longer reacts to the hand
transmitter.
The battery set (15) is an emergency power
provision. This is compulsory with the BV3
system.
The current limiter (14) is used on vehicles for
transportation of hazardous goods. This ensures
that when the main switch is switched off, the
maximum current is limited to 150 mA.

System description

1.2 ACTIVATING AND DEACTIVATING THE SYSTEM

The system is activated by pressing the black

button (A). The direction indicator lamps are
now activated once.
The doors, grille, cab tilting mechanism and the
interior are now protected. In addition, the
starting facility is locked and optionally also the
fuel supply.
The system LED will now flash slowly for A B
approx. 1 minute. As long as the system LED is
AC000244
flashing, the engine cannot be started. The
system is now fully operational. If the vehicle is
fitted with central door locking, the doors will
also be locked.
3
When the green button (B) is pressed, the
system switches itself off. This is visible, as the
direction indicator lamps will light up three times.
The doors remain locked, also when the central
door locking is used.

1.3 SELF TEST

When you switch on the alarm system, the

alarm system carries out a self-test. In this way,
the detection entrances are tested. If there is a
fault in the detection circuit, a short horn signal
follows after eight seconds. The relevant circuit
is then automatically switched off. The system
LED of the alarm system now gives a flashing
code for 30 seconds, with intervening pauses.
This code indicates which detection circuit has
caused the message.
If there are several fault messages, the fault
with the longest flashing code is indicated. The
flashing code is stopped when the alarm system
is switched on.

System description

1.4 SWITCHING OFF THE INTERIOR PROTECTION

If people remain in the vehicle, the system may

only be activated if the interior protection is
switched off. This avoids needless setting off of
the alarm.
Switching off the interior protection is as follows:
1. Turn the contact on and then off again.
2. Switch the alarm off once more with the
hand transmitter. Directly after this, the
system LED briefly continues to be lit.
3. Then switch the alarm system on. The
interior protection is now switched off. It is
now possible to remain in the cab, keeping
3 the other modes of detection.

1.5 BATTERY INDICATION, HAND TRANSMITTERS

When there is a low hand transmitter battery

voltage, the alarm system indicates this by
activating the direction indication lamps for a
short time (10x very quickly in their own cycle).
Depending on the use, the battery life is from 3
to 12 months.

2. DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
2.1 ELECTRONIC UNIT

There are two types of electronic unit, namely

the C3000/24V and the C3000/24V BV3.
The C3000/24V is used for protection classes
BV1 and BV2.
This is a “non-intelligent” system, which means
that the control of the fuel block valve (if fitted) is
achieved with an uncoded signal.
AUTONORM!

3
The C3000/24V BV3 is an “intelligent” system.
This unit is used for protection classes BV2 and AC000243

BV3 and has to be programmed.

The C3000/24V BV3 is an “intelligent” system
and is used for protection classes BV2 and BV3.
With the BV2 systems, control of the fuel lock
valve can be achieved using a coded signal,
while with the BV3 system, a coded signal is
always used.
If control of the fuel lock valve is achieved with a
coded signal, you should program the electronic AUTONORM!
unit so that the electronic unit and the fuel lock
valve can “communicate” with each other.

C 3000 / 24V – BV3

K100756

Under the black covering plate, you can find two

1

sliding switches; a potentiometer and an

2 3 4

adjusting LED.
Using the potentiometer, the sensitivity of the
ultrasonic detector can be set. The adjusting
LED is helpful for this. With a slight arm A B C D
movement, the adjusting LED should flash.
Although the electronic unit will register
something, it will not begin to function. With a
more forceful movement, the adjusting LED AUTONORM!
should be continually activated. The alarm
system must now begin to function. 34299

2.2 FUEL LOCK VALVE

In principal, two sorts of fuel lock valve are

used, a standard fuel lock valve and an
“intelligent” fuel lock valve.
The standard fuel lock valve has a 2-pin
connection. There is only one type of this. The
fuel supply opening can be changed by turning
the fuel lock valve round. With the “intelligent”
fuel lock valve, this is not possible.

The “intelligent” fuel lock valve has a 7 or 8-pin
connection.
In order to guarantee the safety of the vehicle
from theft, the fuel lock valve has no emergency
function. If a fault cannot be rectified, the vehicle
can only be driven after the fuel lock valve has
been removed.
The fuel lock valve only opens if the electronic
unit is in rest mode (off). It is therefore of the
greatest importance that no faults occur for
example, through a low hand transmitter battery.
It is strongly advised that the driver always
carries a spare battery.
The fuel lock valve opens for a maximum of 2
3
seconds after the contact is switched on. If the
contact key is turned too quickly to the start
position, it can happen that the fuel lock valve is
not yet open and is immediately pressed closed
by the fuel boost pressure.
The correct manner of starting is therefore: first,
leave the key on contact for 2 seconds, only
then turn it to the start position.

2.3 VF ENGINE FUEL LOCK POSSIBILITY

No fuel lock valve is used on the VF engine. In

place of it, a lock is achieved using an
interruption in the electronic circuit. A
For this, you interrupt the supply voltage of the C
Celect unit (in connector C), using an “electronic
relay”.
In order to protect this interruption against B
sabotage, the unit is fitted on a bottom plate (A),
and it can be entirely sealed off with a covering
cap (B). This is tightened using a supplied lock.

2.4 PE/XE ENGINE FUEL LOCK POSSIBILITY

No fuel lock valve is used on the PE and XE

engines. In place of it, a lock is achieved using
an interruption in the electronic circuit.
For this, you interrupt the supply voltage of the
Celect unit (in connector C), using an “electronic A
relay” that is connected through connector B to
the cable harness of the alarm system.

2.5 ULTRASONIC DETECTOR

The ultrasonic detector forms part of the interior

protection with the radar detector.
The ultrasonic detector consists of two sensors:
a transmitter and a receiver. The receiver sends
out a high frequency sound wave with a
frequency of 40 kHz (not audible to people),
which is picked up by the receiver. If there is a
(small) distortion of the sound wave occurs, the
LED on the unit will start flashing as a sign that
the ultrasonic sensors have registered
something.
With a greater distortion of the sound wave, the
red LED will be activated and the alarm will go
off. This sensitivity of the ultrasonic sensors can
AC000014 3
be adjusted with the potentiometer on the
electronic unit.

2.6 RADAR DETECTOR

The radar detector forms together with the

ultrasonic detector a part of the interior
W15C
protection. MICROW
AVE DETE
CTOR M

The radar detector sends out a radio wave. This

wave rebounds off metal and the detector can
pick up this wave again. The detector reacts to
a distortion in the wave to be received by
activating an input of the electronic unit.
Advantages of the radar detector are:
the radar detector does not react to air currents
and works through plastic, so that it can be
hidden in the dashboard.
A disadvantage of the radar detector is:
the radar detector also detects through glass. If K100750

fitted incorrectly, it will give a false alarm when

there is movement outside the vehicle.
Note:
- The detection does not go through metal.
Take account of this in the event of any
later fitting of, for example, a mobile
telephone or a fridge.
- The sensitivity of the radar sensor can be
set just as the ultrasonic sensor.

2.7 HORN

The horn is connected with four wires: a power

supply, an earth, a switch wire and a steering
wire.
If the alarm system is in guard position, the
steering wire places a charge on the electronic
unit. In this way, the horn switches on the
sabotage protection. If one of the three
connections is then broken, the horn will work
on the board voltage or on the internal battery. K100757

If the battery pole of the vehicle or the horn

must be uncoupled without the horn being
activated, this can be carried out five minutes
3 after the alarm is switched off with the hand
transmitter.

2.8 HAND TRANSMITTER

The hand transmitters are of the TX40 type and

are provided with green and black buttons.
When operating one of the buttons, the LED on
the hand transmitter will flash. K100749
The electronic unit can store four hand
transmitters in its memory.
When there is a low hand transmitter battery
voltage, the alarm system indicates this by
activating the direction indication lamps for a
short time (10x very quickly in their own cycle).
Depending on the use, the battery life is
between 3 and 12 months.

2.9 SWITCH, CAB LOCKING

For the alarm system, an extra cab tilt-locking

switch is fitted.
There are two models, namely:
- a mechanical switch (used on 65/75/85/
(CF) and F95)

AC000247

- an estimation switch (fitted to the 95 XF).

Description of components

2.10 SWITCH, GRILLE

The grille switch is in the form of a magnetic

switch consisting of two parts: A magnetic part
(A) and a switch part (B).
In the switch part, there is a micro switch (reed
contact).

K100765

Switching the micro switch is achieved if the

distance between the two parts is greater than
about 7 cm. The magnetic switch must never be
connected parallel to other consumers, such as
the interior lighting. The magnetic switch is
intended for switch currents of a few mA. The
internal contacts are not resistant to higher
currents.
K100764

2.11 EMERGENCY KEY

For situations in which the hand transmitter

does not work (discharged battery, fault from
outside, etc.), the system can be switched off
with an emergency key.
This is a chip key without a battery, which is
briefly inserted into the contact.
The key can also be used for switching on the
quick test function.
The emergency key has a black plastic housing K100747
and is type CS 40.

 9905 2-7

Description of components

2.12 PROGRAMMING KEY

For programming (reading) of replaced and

extra hand transmitters and/or emergency keys,
there is a programming key. In order to begin
the functioning procedure, the alarm system
must be switched off. You should at least have
one good, working emergency key or hand
transmitter at your disposal. Programming is
started with a special programming key.
The programming key has a grey plastic AC000245
housing.

3 2.13 BATTERY SET

With BV3 systems, an extra battery set must be

fitted. In this way, the alarm system can keep
working if the vehicle’s board voltage is lost. The
battery set can be connected to the board
voltage. The electronics ensure that the built-in
batteries are only charged when the engine is
running.

K100769

2.14 CURRENT LIMITER

On vehicles for transport of hazardous goods,

there must be a maximum electrical current of
150 mA when the main switch is switched off.
An emergency current provision as a battery set
is not permitted, the battery in the horn is
permitted. Because the alarm system must
remain working, the alarm system is connected
via a current limiter.
The current limiter actually works as an
electronic fuse. When the board voltage is
switched off, the current limiter keeps providing
the alarm system with electricity. As soon as
there is too much of a current, the current limiter
interrupts the power supply to the electronic unit
and the horn. The horn will work from the built-in K100770
battery.
The current limiter is only reset by the switching
on of the board voltage. The horn will be
switched off and the electronic unit can be
operated again with the hand transmitter.

3. INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT

3.1 IMPORTANT POINTS OF ATTENTION WHEN CHECKING THE SYSTEM

1. Before the system is controlled, you must

be sure that the sensitivity of the radar and
ultrasonic detection is set properly. This has
a significant influence on the good
functioning of the system.
A faulty setting can result in a self-test
alarm or a false alarm.
2. Always turn off the contact first when
removing or fitting a connector.
3. In order to avoid damage to the connector 3
connections, through connections to the
rear side of the connector must be made
when measuring.
V300037
4. Also inspect whether the connector
connections are good.

3.5 PROGRAMMING DETECTION ENTRANCES

Note:
The electronic unit is a standard version with
normally opened detection entrances that is to
say that the detection “switches” that are
connected to the electronic unit have an open
connection at rest.
However, if one or more normally closed
detection switch(es) are used, i.e. detection
switches that at rest form a closed connection,
the status of the detection entrances can be
changed via the following procedure.
After programming the detection entrances, a
change in the rest position of the detection
3
switch(es) will cause an alarm.
1. Take a seat in the cab.
2. Ensure that the alarm system is switched
off (system LED off).
3. Turn the contact off. Doors closed, grille
shut and cab not tilted.
4. Turn the contact on.
5. Press both buttons on the hand transmitter
within five seconds and wait until the
flashing lights are activated. Release both
buttons as soon as the flashing lights are
activated. Directly after this, the flashing
lights will go on and then off. The detection
entrances of the electronic unit are now
programmed.
6. Turn the contact off.

3.6 SELF TEST

When switching on the alarm system, the alarm

system carries out a self-test. In this way the
detection entrances are tested. If there is a fault
in a detection circuit, a short horn signal follows
after eight seconds. The relevant circuit is then
automatically switched off. The system LED of
the alarm system now gives a flashing code for
30 seconds, with interval pauses. This code
indicates which detection circuit has caused the
circuit.
If there are several fault messages, the fault
with the longest flashing code is indicated. The
flashing code is stopped when the alarm system
is switched on.

3.7 SWITCHING ON THE QUICK TEST FUNCTION

Note:

1
2 3 4
Using the quick test function, the detection
entrances of the electronic unit (ultrasonic
sensor, doors, grille etc.) can be tested.
When the quick test function is engaged, the
horn (if sliding switch 3 is in position A) and the A B C D
flashing lights are briefly activated.
The quick test function should only be used if
the detection entrances are programmed.

3. Turn the contact on and directly off again. K100751

4. Fit the emergency key in the emergency

key holder.
Remove the emergency key as soon as the
emergency key holder is constantly
activated and push the emergency key
back in the holder. The LED will now flash
at a high frequency. Remove the
emergency key as soon as the LED flashes
at a low frequency. The flashing lights are
now also activated.
5. Close the left-hand door. The flashing lights
will now go out.
6. The quick test function is now active. If,
within 15 seconds, no (simulated) alarm
situation occurs, the quick test function will
switch itself off.

electronic unit is in position B (ultrasonic
detection). Before sliding the switch, first
remove the fuse from the electronic unit.
With a BV3 version, also remove the fuse
from the battery set. After this, replace the A B C D
fuse(s).
2. Loosen the connections of the ultrasonic
sensors on the electronic unit. This causes AUTONORM!
a fault message, but has no consequences
for setting the radar detection.
3

2 3 4
3. Turn the potentiometer on the radar
detector to minimum (anti-clockwise) and K100751

open a side window.

4. Switch the alarm system on (from outside)
with the hand transmitter. After
approximately five minutes, the radar
detection has set itself.
5. After 5 minutes, make a waving movement
in the cab (through the opened window)
with your arm. The radar detection must
now cause the alarm to sound. Switch the
alarm system off.
Note:
- Stick your arm far enough into the cab so
that you can be sure that the radar field of W15C
CTOR M
detection will be disrupted. MICROW

The more sensitive the radar field of

detection, the wider the field of detection.
- If the sensitivity of the radar detection is not
enough, switch off the alarm system. Turn
the potentiometer on the radar detector
partially clockwise. Switch the alarm system
on. Wait 5 minutes and make another
waving movement in the cab. The radar
detection must now cause an alarm.
