Short Biography of Maj Gen Md.

Mahbubur Rahman,
Director General, Directorate General of Drug Administration

Maj Gen Md. Mahbubur Rahman was born on 02 Jan, 1962. He is a Medical Doctor and
obtained his MBBS degree from Rajshahi Medical College in the yr. 1985. He joined
Bangladesh Army on 02 Aug 1986.

He is a public Health Specialist and did his Diploma in public health in 1993 under the
University of Dhaka. He also did MCPS course from Bangladesh College of Physician
and Surgeon in 2003. He did his Master degree in Medical Education in 2014 from
Bangladesh Sheikh Mujib Medical University. He was promoted to Brigadier General in
2011 and served as Commandant of Army Medical Corps Center and School, Dean
Medical Faculty of Bangladesh University of Professionals, Chief Health Officer of
Dhaka South City Corporation. He also commanded Dhaka combined Military Hospital,
the largest referral Hospital of the country for about three years. He was promoted to the
rank of Major General on 03 Feb, 2019 and assumed the appointment of commandant
Armed Forces Medical College. Finally he assumed the appointment of Director General
of Directorate General Drug Administration on 08 May, 2019. He is now chairman of the
national clinical trial advisory committee of Bangladesh and chairman of
technical committee of Drug Control Committee, the apex body of new drug evaluation
technical committee.

He visited many countries – USA, UK, Japan, Poland, KSA, Singapore, Kuwait, Liberia,
Ghana, Ivory Coast etc.

He is happily married and blessed with two sons. He is a keen golfer.
