CMS Narrative: Business Process Narratives

Please draft business process narratives for ABB Optical within one Word document memo. This task may take
more than 15 hours. If so, please just let me know.

Part 1

1.) Using the examples from other client engagements found in the “Examples” folder of the zip file,
please draft a business process narratives memo for ABB.

2.) To begin, please use the same template/format as the examples. For the purpose section you can copy
it verbatim except please replace the client name with the legal entity name found on page 1 of the
<Footnotes> document provided.

3.) For the background, please use “Note 1 – Nature of Business and Formation” within the <Footnotes>
document to draft a background summary about the Company. For the section in the background that
discusses qualified employees, please just use the first sentence of the Adler example that states “the
Company hires and retains people who are adequately qualified…etc” and leave blank lines that are
highlighted so I may complete this section later.

4.) For the remainder of the memo, please use the policies found under the “Company Policies” folder
within the zip file to summarize our understanding of each of the process of transactions for 1.)
Revenues/Accounts Receivables 2.) Fixed Assets/Intangibles 3.) Inventory 4.) Accruals & Operating
Expenses (some of these are found within different policies; i.e. the P-cards process is found within
procurements) 5.) Cash 6.) Employee Compensation 7.) Debt 8.) Equity 9.) Income Taxes. I would like
you to header each section within the memo with the 9 aforementioned cycle names and summarize
processes found within the policies under the applicable cycle. I have also included a copy of the recent
file within the zip to aid you in determining where certain processes fall. You are able to search within
each cycle to help you determine this and I have included a screenshot of additional firm guidance
below that can help with business process narratives.

5.) If there are no policies/processes provided related to any of the cycles mentioned above, please leave
the cycle header within the Word Memo as I will need to populate our understanding based on
walkthroughs with the client.

6.) Please try to be concise in your summaries and try to include only the most important information
necessary to explain our understanding based on the Company’s policies. The examples will be very
helpful as they have concise summaries. Everywhere in the memo where there is a position/title, please
supplement with that person’s name which can be found within the <ABB Personnel Org Chart>
provided within the zip file. For example, if the policy states “On a monthly basis, the Controller prepares an
excel workbook consisting of the different ratios and calculations that must be passed by the Company to be in
compliance with the debt covenants noted within the executed debt agreement.” Please include in the memo as
“On a monthly basis, Kevin Stahl, Controller, prepares an excel workbook consisting of the different ratios and
calculations that must be passed by the Company to be in compliance with the debt covenants noted within the
executed debt agreement.”

7.) When completed, please label the Word Memo document with “ABB 2019 – Business Process
Narratives” and send to me.
