Bible Reading

and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make
your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.”

midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of

The 6 Basic Animals Groups

Invertebrates
Fish
Amphibians
Reptiles
Birds
Mammals

Invertebrates
an animal lacking a backbone, such as an
arthropod, mollusk, annelid, coelenterate, etc. The
invertebrates constitute an artificial division of the
animal kingdom, comprising 95 percent of animal
species and about 30 different phyla.

Fish are aquatic vertebrate animals that have gills

but lack limbs with digits, like fingers or toes.
Recall that vertebrates are animals with internal
backbones. Most fish are streamlined in their
general body form.
The word fish is the same whether it is singular or
plural—you can talk about one fish or ten fish. The
word fish is used to refer to an individual fish or to
a group of fish of the same species. The word
fishes refers to multiple species of fish.
Reptiles are tetrapod animals in the class Reptilia,
comprising
today's turtles, crocodilians, snakes, amphisbaenians, li
zards, tuatara, and their extinct relatives. The study of
these traditional reptile orders, historically combined
with that of modern amphibians, is called herpetology.

Bird, (class Aves), any of the more than 10,400 living

species unique in having feathers, the major
characteristic that distinguishes them from all other
animals. A more-elaborate definition would note that
they are warm-blooded vertebrates more related to
reptiles than to mammals and that they have a four-
chambered heart (as do mammals), forelimbs modified
into wings (a trait shared with bats), a hard-shelled egg,
and keen vision, the major sense they rely on for
information about the environment. Their sense of
smell is not highly developed, and auditory range is
limited. Most birds are diurnal in habit. More than
1,000 extinct species have been identified from fossil
remains.

Mammals are a particular class of animal. What makes

an animal a mammal are several things. First, they must
have glands that give milk. This is to feed their babies.
Second, they are warm-blooded. Third, all mammals
have fur or hair. Humans are mammals and so are dogs,
whales, elephants, and horses. Most mammals have
teeth with the exception of the ant eater which doesn't
have any teeth.
Mollusca is the second-largest phylum of
invertebrate animals after the Arthropoda. The
members are known as molluscs or mollusks[a]
(/ˈmɒləsk/). Around 85,000 extant species of
molluscs are recognized. The number of fossil
species is estimated between 60,000 and 100,000
additional species. The proportion of undescribed
species is very high. Many taxa remain poorly
studied.

Corals  are marine invertebrates within

the class Anthozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. They
typically live in compact colonies of many identical
individual polyps. Corals species include the
important reef builders that inhabit tropical
oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a
hard skeleton.

Crustaceans (Crustacea /krʌˈsteɪʃə/) form a large,

diverse arthropod taxon which includes such
animals as crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimps,
prawns, krill, woodlice, and barnacles. The
crustacean group can be treated as a subphylum
under the clade Mandibulata; because of recent
molecular studies it is now well accepted that the
crustacean group is paraphyletic, and comprises all
animals in the clade Pancrustacea other than
hexapods. Some crustaceans are more closely
related to insects and other hexapods than they
are to certain other crustaceans.
