COURSE TITLE: Business Research Methods

Note: Attempt all questions
Q-1: Following is the SPSS outcome for Regress Analysis you are required to interpret each of the
table in APA format, and make the decision for hypotheses assessment: [ 10 Marks]

Table 1
Model Summary
Model R R Square Adjusted R Std. Error of
Square the Estimate
1 .737 a .543 .534 .40904
a. Predictors: (Constant), CSR

Table 1
The R2 value shows how much of the total difference in the dependent variable consumer
behavior is explained by the independent variable i.e. CSR. In this situation, 54.3% variance
explained by consumer behavior, is really significant.
Table 2
ANOVAa
Model Sum of Df Mean F Sig.
Squares Square
Regression 10.720 1 10.720 64.075 .000b
1 Residual 9.035 54 .167
Total 19.755 55
Dependent Variable: Consumer_behavior b. Predictors: (Constant), CSR

Table 2
Directs that the regression model foresees the dependent variable significantly well.
The Regression row and Sig column specify the statistical significance of the regression model
is fit for the data.

CSR .767 .096 .737 8.005 .000
a. Dependent Variable: Consumer_behavior

Table 3
In view of CSR is an independent variable here, it is certain that any change by 0.767 into CSR
will be the reason of change in consumer behavior by 1 unit, though keeping other factors
constant.

Q-2: A tentative statement is to be formulated as a result of extensive literature review, Give the
examples of Directional Hypothesis, Formational Hypothesis and Derivation Hypothesis
[ 7 Marks]

Directional hypothesis
A directional hypothesis is a prediction regarding a positive or negative change, relationship or difference
between two variables of a population

A researcher typically develops a directional hypothesis from research questions and uses statistical
methods to check the validity of the hypothesis.

Example:

Write your examples here……………………………………

Formational Hypothesis
 This is null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis.
 These hypotheses contain opposing viewpoints.
 H 1: The alternative hypothesis: It is a claim about the population that is contradictory to H 0 and
what we conclude when we reject H 0.

Examples:

……………………………………………………….

Derivation Hypothesis
Inductive and deductive are derivational hypothesis. Inductive reasoning moves from specific instances
into a generalized conclusion, while, deductive reasoning moves from generalized principles to specific
conclusion.

Q-3: A researcher intends to study the impact of Eustress on Organizational productivity, with
intervening effect Perceived organizational support, you are required to list down the steps to

Q-4: Identify the types of variables in the topic given in Q-3 of this paper [ 3 Marks]

Variables in Research
Researcher to define here the main variables in this research which are as follows:
 Independent Variables
Impact of Eustress will be Independent variable in this study.
 Dependent Variable
Organizational productivity will be dependent variable in the given framework.
 Intervening Variable
Supposed organizational support would be prevailing variable in this study.

Q-5: Consider the following conceptual framework developed on the basis of extensive literature
review, formulate the tentative statements to be tested and suggest the type of statistical technique
for analyses [ 10 Marks]

Gender

Working Environment Turnover Intention

Organization
al
Citizenship
GULSHAN CAMPUS, KARACHI

Hypothesis will be tested in contradiction of above conceptual framework would be as under:

There is a significant relationship of working environment on the turnover intention.

There is a significant relationship between working environment and an organization.
Here is an influence on an organization by their working environment.
Here is a significant impact on turnover intention of an organization.
There is a significant relationship among an organization and its turnover intention.
There is a significant connection between gender, working environment and turnover intention in an
organization.
