Tense negotiations

The case talks about cross cultural differences that occur during conferences often leads to tense
environment. The case is from 2001 United Nations World Youth Forum where different religious
groups and political organisations are present to give their opinion on world youth agendas. During
the conference when a topic of arrested homosexual couple from Afghanistan appeared majority of
the participants from the Muslim countries expressed their dislike on homosexuality and demanded
punishment where in participants from France did not agree to it which created tense atmosphere in
the conference. Similarly French participants were against the idea of polygamy whereas Muslim
participants defended their beliefs and values towards it.
