Collect and Analyze Feedback for the Reflected

Best Self Project

Analysis of Feedback Received
1. Copy and paste all the responses into a single document. This is your “data.”
2. Briefly review the Roberts et al. reading, “How to Play to your Strengths,” which
was assigned in Week 1, to refresh your memory of the purpose for this analysis.
3. Analyze and interpret the strongest patterns you can find in your data, as follows.
Recall what you learned about coding in the Evidence-Based Management course.
 Look for points of agreement across responses from different people.
 Cut and paste similar sentences/phrases from different people and group
them together.
 You should expect to find at least two, and as many as five, topics where
more than one person wrote similar things about you. These are “themes.” If you begin to
notice more than two to five themes, focus on the ones that seem most relevant to describe
your style and strengths as a manager and leader.
 Assign each of these groups/themes a label.
 For example: if you see a set of responses like “gets along with
everyone,” “never interrupts when someone is talking,” and “isn’t afraid to help solve
workplace arguments,” you might reflect that you have a strength in a theme such as
“harmony.”
 A theme could be something like “gets along with everybody” or
“never misses a deadline”
o When you write your self-portrait for this assignment, you will be
asked to illustrate each of your themes with examples from the responses you received.

Start Writing
It is strongly encouraged that you begin writing your Portfolio Management paper this week.

Final Deliverable Details

The Management Portfolio paper is a Word document, with a page limit of 10 pages double-spaced,
not including attachments. (Note:10 pages is a limit, not a requirement. Students have written
excellent papers for this assignment in six to seven pages. Many students will find that they have a
lot to say, as they begin writing this paper.) The paper should include:
 Description of data collection methods, i.e., how you collected
feedback for the Reflected Best Self part of the assignment and a statement about
completing the online self-assessment.
 Results of your data collection, including quotes from some of your
Reflected Best Self feedback, and your self-assessment quantitative results.
 Analysis and integration of your results: How do you interpret
your results? What themes do you find in your Reflected Best Self feedback? How do those
themes relate to your self-assessment results?
 Reflection: What do you learn from your analysis and integration of the
results? In what ways does this confirm what you already know about yourself, and what
surprises or questions do the results yield?
 Development plan: Based on this project, what are your priorities for
developing your leadership and management skills? What are a few practical, achievable
steps that you can take in the next two years, to act on those priorities?
