Diodes, Inc. Announces Surface Mount 1.0W Zener Diode
SMAZ series available with nominal Zener voltage values of 5.6V thru 200V in SMA outline.

♦ General Information
The Diodes Inc. 1.0 Watt Surface Mount Silicon Zener Diode is a high quality, well
constructed, highly reliable design for use in all types of commercial, industrial,
entertainment, computer, and automotive applications.

♦ Advantages of the New Packages

- Size: 30% reduction in board surface requirement compared to the SMB outline.
- Increased Reliability: The package ‘J’ leads relieve strain during the solder
process avoiding common TCE problems encountered with the MELF package.
- Automation Handling: 20% to 40% faster handling and placing performance than
traditional MELF packages.
- Price: Comparable MELF pricing.
- Industry Standard Types Offered: (See product listing on page 2)

♦ Target Markets
- Anyone currently using equivalent MELF and JEDEC DO-214XX packaging.
Unlike MELF packaging, SMA packaging does not require special handling to
prevent rolling. The SMA package outline occupies 30% less board space than a
JEDEC DO-214AA SMB outline.
- Portable electronics – cell phones, laptops, cameras, remotes (garage door, etc.)
- High density electronics – PCMCIA cards, disk drives, interface modules, modems
- Hot industries – computers, telecommunications
