role of creative writing in trying times.

Editorial staff and contributors of Ang Siláb.

IV. TARGET OUTCOMES


Equipped staff who are knowledgeable on creating and the power of creative writing in order to serve as
medium for nation-building.

V. RATIONALE
Literature is the source of strength and hope of humanity throughout the ages. This online
workshop/lecture aims that the Ang Siláb editorial staff and contributors to act as light-bearers to those
who are now fading by providing literary works. This also shows the vital role of written proses and
pieces in kindling the dying hope to live of the Filipino people similar to a twilight.

Apagriwét is the Ilocano word for twilight (takip-silim in Tagalog) and pertains to the setting of the sun
symbolizing the current state of the Philippines during this pandemic. The Apagriwét also pertains to the
struggle of the people caused by the incompetent and self-serving government. It shows the fading of a
bright future but can be saved through creative writing – that no matter how dark the night will be, the
sun will rise again.

VI. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the online workshop/lecture participants are now able to:

1. relate real-life situations and struggles into their literary pieces;

2. express and critically present different issues through creative writing; and

3. independently write and submit literary assignments as designated
