Objective
This group discussion is expected to allow participants to become familiar with the GCF concept note
template and, through collective discussion with country-colleagues, outline steps for preparing the
concept note.

Groups
Participants gather into groups by country.

Task (45 mins total)

• Become familiar with the GCF concept note template.

• Discuss and prepare brief bullets for key elements in the concept note:
o Project’s climate rationale
o Project’s theory of change, based on logframe
o Expected project results, and their alignment with the GCF investment criteria
o Justification of GCF funding request

• Outline steps for preparing concept note – institutional coordination, stakeholder engagement,
specific roles and responsibilities
