5 PARTICIPATION

How Do I Get Involved?

So those who received his word were

baptized, and there were added that day
about three thousand souls.
ACTS 2:41

After the new believers in Jerusalem had been added to the church,

Y
they started a different way of life unique to those who are part of

D
Christ’s church. Similarly, we have four basic expectations of Victory

U
members based on Scripture:

S T
1. A Lifestyle of

E S (1)

S
We expect church members to devote themselves to God, and read

R
their Bible and pray every day. Consistent prayer and Bible study are

O
the most basic ingredients for spiritual health and growth.

O
F RP
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching
and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and

U
the prayers.

ACTS 2:42

2. A Lifestyle of (2)

We expect church members to be disciples and to make disciples by

being involved in a Victory group, preaching the gospel to others, and
helping family and friends know and follow Jesus as well.

And day by day, attending the temple together and

breaking bread in their homes, they received their food
with glad and generous hearts . . .
ACTS 2:46
. . . and what you have heard from me in the presence
of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be
able to teach others also.
2 TIMOTHY 2:2

3. A Lifestyle of (3)

We expect church members to live a lifestyle of generosity by

cheerfully giving their tithes and offerings to God through the church.

And they were selling their possessions and belongings

and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.

Y
ACTS 2:45

U D
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a

cheerful giver.

4. A Lifestyle of

We expect church members to make every effort to walk in

peace, forgiveness, and unity. This unity is relational, doctrinal,
and philosophical.

in common.

of peace.

24 CHURCH COMMUNITY
SUMMARY
We see the result of the church’s commitment to devotion, unity,
generosity, and discipleship in the following verse:

[They were] praising God and having favor with all the
people. And the Lord added to their number day by
day those who were being saved.
ACTS 2:47
