2 PURPOSE

Why Do We Exist?

. . . if I delay, you may know how one ought to

behave in the household of God, which is the
church of the living God, a pillar and buttress
of the truth.
1 TIMOTHY 3:15

DY
WHY DOES THE CHURCH EXIST?
The Church exists to be a pillar and buttress of truth. In ancient

U
architecture, a buttress supports and reinforces a structure and keeps

T S
it in place. The Church, therefore, keeps and guards the truth.

S E
WHY DOES EVERY NATION EXIST?

S
R
Like individuals, churches and ministries

O
have their own unique calling, purpose,

O
F RP
and personality. As part of Every Nation,
our purpose is summed up in our
mission statement:

P U We exist to honor God by establishing

Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, socially responsible
churches and campus ministries in every nation.

1. (1)

And he is the head of the body, the church. He is

the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in
everything he might be preeminent.
COLOSSIANS 1:18
2. (2)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the
end of the earth.”
ACTS 1:8

3. (3)
Responsible

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as

Y
you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you

D
did it to me.’”

MATTHEW 25:40

S T E S
EVERY NATION CORE VALUES

S
Our core values describe how we build. Whether we are building a

R
Victory group, a music team, or a new church, these core values are

O O
the essential issues.

1.

F RP
(4)

U
We value obedience.

P
Because Jesus is “King of kings and Lord of lords,” we believe that
whole-hearted submission to God’s will and His Word is the starting
point of the Christian faith and the foundation of all spiritual growth.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk

in him . . .
COLOSSIANS 2:6

6 CHURCH COMMUNITY
2. (5)

We value lost people.

Because God’s heart is to reach the lost, we seek to build

churches primarily through evangelism—not transfer,
through birth—not adoption.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish but
have eternal life.”
JOHN 3:16

Y
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

D
U
LUKE 19:10

T S
3. (6)

S E
We value spiritual growth.

S
R O
Because we are called to make disciples, our primary focus is

O
ministering to people, not conducting meetings, administrating

F RP
programs, or building buildings.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

U
19

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the

P Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe

all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with
you always, to the end of the age.”
MATTHEW 28:19,20

Purpose 7
4. (7)

We value leadership development.

Because we are called to raise up spiritual leaders, we prioritize

leadership training and deliberately create opportunities for young
potential leaders to develop their gifts.

. . . and what you have heard from me in the presence

of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be
able to teach others also.
2 TIMOTHY 2:2

5.

DY (8)

We value long-term relationships.

T U S
Because the family is the foundation and validation for all ministry,

S E
we refuse to sacrifice our marriages and our children on the altars of

S
temporal success. And because we believe God has called us to be

R O
a spiritual family, we reject the idea of disposable relationships and

O
choose to walk in love, respect, and unity.

F RP 1
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it
labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the

P U watchman stays awake in vain. . . 3Behold, children are

a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb
a reward.
PSALM 127:1,3

. . . eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond

of peace.
EPHESIANS 4:3

8 CHURCH COMMUNITY
WHY DOES VICTORY EXIST?
As a member of Every Nation,
Victory exists to:
Honor (9)
.
Make .
(10)

God’s honor is the foundational

motive for all ministry, the ultimate
goal of all outreach, the invisible
force driving our mission; it is the
starting point of all we do. Our bottom line is the glory of God, not the

Y
success of a ministry. The chief end of man is to “honor God and to

D
enjoy Him forever.” This is why we do what we do.

U
For although they knew God, they did not honor him

T S
as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in

S E
their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

S
ROMANS 1:21

O R O
As followers of Jesus, we are to obey His final word to the disciples:

F RP
Go and make disciples. It was a commission not just to be disciples,
but to make disciples. We do this by engaging culture and community,
establishing biblical foundations, equipping believers to minister, and

U
empowering disciples to make disciples.

P “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

19

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the

Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe
all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with
you always, to the end of the age.”
MATTHEW 28:19,20

Purpose 9
SUMMARY
The church exists to keep and guard God’s truth. Specifically,
Every Nation exists to honor God by establishing Christ-centered,
Spirit-empowered, socially responsible churches and campus
ministries in every nation. We build by valuing Lordship, evangelism,
