SEEKS INFORMATION
Editor, Tribune:
May I be permitted to eak the
readers of The Bismarck Tribune
what any of your readers know of
the “Rosicuclan Order" located on
the Pacific coast? I understand' It Is
not a religious society; that u. non*
sectarian.
I would Indeed appreciate further
Information from the readers per*
talnlng to this organisation which
one hears of quite frequently referred
to by the name of Amorc. Is it a fra
ternal order? ' 1 *"•
Yours Respectfully,
W. E. DOTY.
Editor s Note:
The encyclopedia Brlttanlca speaks
of Roslcruclanlsra as a 17th century
society which utilised the technicali
ties of chemistry and the sciences m
a media for making known their
opinions on moral and religious mat
ters. It was not really an organisa
tion, having' had no officers, and
there Is no trace of them having held
meetings. Also there is no trace of
them exisitlng In modern times, ac
cording to this authority. “

Shrine Draws Visitors
to Rosicrucian Park
in California
A temple without roof or walls Is
attracting thousands of visitors to the
Rosicrucian pnrk In San Jose, Calif.
The strangely constructed temple
Is an exact replica of the famous
temple of Karnair. built by the Egyp
tians In the year 1350 B. C.
In every rietdll the original shrine
has been reconstructed: hieroglyph
ics and complex decoration represent
ing weeks of tedious carving and
painting have made the temple one
or the mast unusual buildings In the
United Slates.
The odd monument commemorates
the memory of the founders of the
Roslerucinn brotherhood, one of the
oldest organizations in the world.
Over 3.000 years ago. In a like temple,
these sages gathered to share their
wisdom with thase desiring counsel.
It was at tho time of the erection
of the temple of Knrnak, Egyptian
historians contend, that Amenhotep
IV founded the famous fraternity
whleh continues to disseminate Its
knowledge to this dny.
The Raslcruclan brotherhood,
known generally ns AMORC, has re-
ccntly completed the unique temple
as a part of the building program on
their grounds in California, their
North American headquarters. An
Egyptian auditorium, dedicated to
the memory of Sir Francis Bacon, nt
one time a Rosicrucian leader, also is
nearing completion In the Rosicru-
clan park.
Milwaukee has scvcrnl groups af
filiated with Hie Rosicrucian fellow

Failure at Fresno
PRESNO, July 23. — Revival of
"sounds of the past” which might
(at some future time) include the
voice of Lincoln in his immortal
Gettysburg address, and the Savior
in the Sermon on the Mount,
through the use of a “gravatonic
ray machine** failed to materialise
here last night when a suspicious
member of the audience pulled an
electric switch and brought the
‘•sounds'* to a sudden end.
The “demonstration " which was
heralded to the membership of sev
eral local lodges from which the au
dience was recruited, was staged by
Dr. E. E. Thomas, head of our
brotherhood associations, 233 South
Broadway, Los Angeles, and Fred
Reed, who was introduced by Thom
as as inventor of the machine.
The theory of the demonstration
as explained by Thomas closely
followed the fanciful prologue to
Will Rogers's “Connecticut Yankee**
movie, in which a machine brought
back sounds of centuries past.
The demonstration had Just start
ed and Reed was “bringing back’*
sounds through a dishpan, when
James Nielsen, custodian of the
lodge hall, threw a switch to turn
off the lights in an adjoining room.
When be unlocked the door he found
a woman nonchalantly powdering
her nose beside a cumbersome look
ing box or trunk, which apparent
ly was the source of the “sounds
of the past.**
“Doctor" Thomas and “Profes
sor” Reed did not stand upon cere
mony when they were warned to
packed up and leave Fresno imme
diately with jail as the ___
alternative.

A N C IE N T ORDER
The Rosicrucinns of '.his community
were represt nted by Miss M, Schultze of
840 Throckmorton avenue at the Inter
national Rosicrucian Convention held
July 22 to 29, at San Jose, Fifteen
countries and three jurisdictions of the
Order were represented at this unique,
mystical conclave. There were in a t
tendance, almost one thousand mem
bers and delegates representing nearly
all p a rts of the world
Of outstanding importance in the
business features ol the annual con
vention was the election of a new
G rand Council and Grand Master.
There were also dedicated two new'
structures at Rosicrucian Park, the Na
tional headquarters of the organiza
tion, in San Jose. First: The Sir
Francis Bacon Memorial Auditorium:
Sir Francis Bacon having been one of
the Supreme ritualistic officers of the
Rosicrucian Order in Europe. Second:
The other structure is perhaps one of
the most unusual of its kind in this
country. It is a replica of Karnae
Temple at Luxor. Egypt, erected to
commemorate the memory of Amen-
hotep the IV.. whom the Rosicrucians
consider one of the early traditional
founders of their organization. This
elaborate structure, although, of course,
smaller in size than the original is
quite complete in detail, consisting of
a highly ornamented Egyptian pylon,
with hieroglyphics and Egyptian char
ters painted and inscribed thereon, and
an Egyptian colonnade, composed of
the usual lotus flower capitol columns,
typical ol' the structures of the Egyp
tian Empire age.
The convention voted that th e next
annual session be held again a t the
National Headquarters of the Rosicruc-
lan Order tAMORCi in San Jose.

To Hear Talk
On Vibrations
At the meeting of the Roslcruclnn
•iwombly on Nagleo Avenue tomorrow
night, Dr. Lewis Is going to demon
strate how the Invisible vibrations of
this universe affect our health, our
general habits of living and life Itself.
"I Intend to show that the sounds
of music produce color and produce
sympathetic effects upon the human
nervous system that are transmitted to
certain organs for certain parts of the
body with either favorable or unfavor
able results,” soys Dr. Lewis. "The
Colors of tho clothing we wear or of
the decorations In our living rooms
and offices also affect ur. In a similar
manner, and these effpets ere easily
and quickly demonstrated In a scien
tific monner as I will show during
the discourse.”
Dr. Lewis has had the laboratory of
the Roslcruclan College build for him
a special apparatus that amplifies the
vibrations of sound and color ,nnd he
will direct these In such n manner as
to produce sound effects easily dis
tinguished by those in the audience.
The half hour of music will precede
the regular service on Sunday evening,
and the discourse and demonstrations
will be followed by the answering of
many questions dealing with the prac
tical affairs of life. Every Sunday
evening the auditorium Is filled to
capacity with several hundred turned

Of Thoughts
Last Sunday evening over ti thou
sand persons tried to get Into the
largo auditorium of the Hoslcvurlan
public assembly on Nnglco Avenuo to
witness the demonstrations and hear
the lecture oil the subject of “How
Vibrations Affect Us,” Several hun
dred were turned away while hundreds
of others stood throughout the entire
meeting.
At tho request of many who were
present. Dr, Lewis will speak tomor
row night oh "How Thoughts Affect
Us" and will give further demonstra
tions of tho principles Involved,
"It Is not only true that thoughts
of anger, envy, and liaLred affect us
Inwardly and havo a considerable
bearing upon our health but thoughts
of various kinds, Including those that
arc of the naturo of despondency,
pessimism and anxiety, affect our
health and our own welfare In a
material sense,” says Dr, Lewis. "Un
kind thoughts regarding another per
son or group of persons, held In our
minds for Just a few seconds arc very
apt to havo a retroactive effect upon
us as well as causing a depressed
feeling upon those wo have In mind.
It 13 ncccssavy for us to guard our
thoughts very carefully,”
During tho demonstrations for the
evening, Dr. Lewis will show that
thoughts are real, tangible things and
that they can emanate and radiate
Into space and affect others around
us and even affect Inanimate things.
Before tho discourse and demon
strations there will bo tho usual half
hour of music and the discourse will
be followed by the answering of ques
tions dealing with practical affairs of

Lewis Sunday
At the Roslcruolan Auditorium on
Nagleo Avenue tomorrow night, Dr.
H. spencer Lewis Is going to outline
the secret teachings of Jesus.
"There aro many pnssnges In the
New Testament which reveal th at
Jesus Used parnblcs and allegories for
His public Instructions which were
different from those th at Ho used In
private, and there arc a number of In
timations th a t Jesus held secret meet
ings with his Disciples," says Dr.
Lewis. "These teachings have not been
lost to the world, but are greatly veiled
and hidden In the Christian 131blo and
In the sacred writings where we can
find them today."
Dr. Lewis will take these secret
teacliJngs and analyze them nhd show
their relation to many of the present-
day Christian doctrines and to many
of the miracles which Jesus performed
during his lifetime. Some of those
secret doctrines make plain the mys
tery of the ^resurrection and the as

able to heal tho sick and raise the
dead. #
Before the discourse of the evening
