Weekly Journal #8

On Monday, I began working on my internship activities for the week, such as the
discussion post and the journal since we will not have as much time this week to complete it, due
to not interning on Independence Day. I enjoyed this week’s discussion post because it
encouraged me to consider my education and future career plans after my internship experience
is completed. Originally, I wanted to begin taking classes to earn my master’s degree right after
decision. Since many Public Health careers require a few years of experience, I would like to
work an entry level position to gain more experience then apply to actual salary-paying
positions. Hopefully I could apply to a company or organization that provides a tuition assistance
program. If not, I would consider applying to a graduate assistant program to gain additional
“Grief” rough draft and completed research that will help me develop my final sections next
week. After emailing my supervisor an updated summary of my work, I communicated with her
regarding the next few weeks. I explained that due to the nature of this internship, there are many
internship assignments that are due later in July. Therefore, I will not have as much time to
devote to my research paper. She responded that my information was very detailed and
informative. At the beginning of my internship, she informed me that I could submit my paper
when my work was thorough and I am approaching that point. She told me that I could submit it
when I felt comfortable but there are a few sections that I would still like to add. In the upcoming
week I plan to: finalize those sections then add citations and a reference page. I am very proud of
the work that I have put into this paper but it is time to work on my final assignments! On
Friday, interns were not allowed to complete work for their sites because of Independence Day.

This was a chance for interns to take a nice little break before entering the “home stretch” of our
internship experience!
