Deforestation in Huila

I am going to talk about deforestation in my department, Huila. This terrible

problem has created a lot of impacts on the biological diversity of this beautiful
place, specially the situation of cutting down our native forest that surrounds our
mountains.

So, talking about sustainable production, our forests have been exploited for many
years, but in the last ten years our governments have been trying to reforest with
species such as: Almendro and Saman. This situation has brought an increase of
the trees along our mountains. At the same time it is possible to improve quality of
life in our department

In addition, about sustainable consumption, we know that forests are essential part
on earth, they give us: oxygen, clean water, shelters, fuel and food. That is why we
have to be good citizens using our natural resources; for example, using paper
from sugar cane. We have to teach to our young people and sons to respect,
recycle and reuse.

However, climate change will not have reverse but it will not affect in the same way
along the country. There will be places such as Tolima that will have an increase in
temperatures and others will not have rains. Caribbean region will be drier and
other regions will have stronger rains

Biodiversity in Huila is varied. There is a beautiful place called Tribuna, and it is

located in the lower reaches of Neme River. There, we can find snakes, frogs,
alligators, sardines, water ducks, parrots, hummingbirds and many bats. A lot of
people from Surcolombiana University go to Tribuna to study those species and to
investigate. Other people visit Tribuna in order to practice passive recreations, to
admire nature, to give conferences.
To conclude I have to say that people from huila and also people from all the
country have to be aware of the importance about Natural Resources. It can begin
at home with our sons, then teachers at schools since they can teach to our
students how to respect and cooperate with the protection of this great heritage.
