    This painting is a work that was commissioned by Laerzio Cherubini, a papal lawyer of
    the time exactly in 1601, this painting could not be finished before 1606. The
    representation of the Virgin Mary caused a certain scandal, and was rejected as
    inappropriate for the time, instead put a painting on the same subject by Carlo Saraceni.
