What is a person of peace?

Breakout

Group discussion 1 (15 minutes)

Assign each passage to two people in the group. They should both read it, then summarize:

Andrew and Philip: John 1:40-46

Samaritan woman: Jn 4:25-30; 39
Zaccheus: Lk 19:1-10
Cornelius: Acts 10:1-2; 22-24; 44-45
Lydia: Acts 16:14-15

Who was the person of peace in the story? What were they like?
How were they engaged?
What was the result of their involvement?

As a group:

What can we learn about people of peace from these examples?

Group discussion 2 (15 minutes)

Read Matt. 9:37-38; 10:1; 10:7-15

What were Jesus’ instructions to the disciples when they went out?
What are some characteristics of households of peace?
How did the disciples find them?
How does that relate to our ministry?

People of peace come in all shapes and sizes.

God can use anyone as a person of peace

Some principles:

 Practice Pray, Care, Share! Share the gospel!

 God is already at work in peoples’ lives
 Expect that God has prepared people of peace to help us
 Don’t waste time with people who are unresponsive
 People of peace are more effective than outsiders in reaching their networks
 There may be more than one person of peace
 They have resources, not just networks. Let them use their resources
 Encourage them to share the gospel immediately. Don’t wait!
 Ask them to help you form a group of people who want to explore what it means to know and
follow Jesus personally

Assignment

Begin praying and looking for people of peace. By the last session, you should have identified at least
one potential person of peace.

Begin sharing stories of answers to your prayers for your top 10. Use #ccfgoviral
