App for contactless safe transportation.

Problem: People are scared to use public transport once the lockdwon is over hence
the transportation system must be able to ensure passengers that health & safety
regulations will be followed by filling transportation vechiles to 50% of it's
normal capacity and enough to mantain a 1m distance between the passangers. This
drastic change can cause many people to not get a bus or a way to get to their work
place but this can be prevented by using an organized transportation system and
finding alternative transportation options such as using cycles.
3 users of app
1.Vehicle conductor
Bus conductur must have the app installed and logged in as the bus conductor. He
must scan the qr code of each and every person entering the bus to confirm they
have bought a ticket to get on to the bus. Once the ticket is confirmed, the
available seats will be reduced by 1 and updated on the database.

2.Route Manager
The route manger over sees a machine learning model that predicts the amount of
traffic/passengers for a particular time on a certain route so they can figure out
how many buses to deploy and when to deploy them. This models requires archived
public tranport usage rates to predict future outcomes.

3.Passengers
To encourage people to cycle more rather then to take the bus, there will be a
taxation on buses for people who are able to bike. For people who are unable to
cycle such as elders, pregnant women, the disabled and a single person accompanying
them can exempt from these higher rates by scanning and sending the required
documents over the app or by visiting their closest metro station. Essential
workers can also apply for discounts. Payment is done completely through the app
using net banking you can recharge your account so you can book transportation with
a single click.
Tickets can be booked 1 day before or even as and when you require it but once all
the seats of a particular bus is full you will not be able to book seats. Users who
book tickets and do not show up on bus are fined 50% of the ticket cost, reguarly
defaulting will ban your account from the system.
Another feature of the app is, it shows alternative routes from start point to
destination upto 24 hours ahead which includes combined options of bus
,cycle, ferry, etc. When searching for routes you have to option of removing
bus, ferry, metro, cycle etc if there's one that you would not like to take. Once a
route is selected the app will show you the approx time from starting station to
destination, the cost as well the approximate current availabilty of seats and a
booking option. If you want to take the same route everyday you can buy tickets for
a 1 year plan, 3 months plan, 1 month plan, 1 week plan, 1 day plan, one way plan,
two way plan, longer plans will have larger discounts. Tickets can be activated
when you want and once they're activated the amount of time you have before ticket
is deactivated is shown. The app will also use visualization tools to discover
commonly used routes that contain many connections to make it a single route with
no connections so you can easily hop in at your stop and hop out at your
destination without having to switch between buses.
Data on a passanger's route is stored for up to 2 weeks in case they get corona.

"First Bus, one of the UK’s largest operators, is launching an update to its mobile
app that aims to enable its customers across the UK to live track its available
capacity, as the operator continues to develop ways to help customers social
distance on board its fleet. First Bus app will launch by the end of June"

3.Transport for London (TfL) has announced that it will begin the phased re-
introduction of the requirement for passengers to touch in on buses with their
contactless, Oyster or concessionary card, starting with routes served by single-
door and New Routemaster buses.Customers on 85 routes, served by more than 1,200 of
these buses, will need to touch in on the card reader by the doors as they board.
(Installing Card Readers on every bus in India is not afforadable????)
4.Voi has taken the strategic decision to create a permanent solution allowing for
a personalised workplace experience. The strategy involves employees making their
own choice of how many days they want to work from the office and places trust in
that all employees can determine how they best can be most productive.
(Companys in info parks/ tech cities, once lockdown is over if they decide
employees only need to come in for 2 days in a week. Companies under a single park
can work together to agree on which areas they should allow works to come in from
and buses can be deployed specially from that area just for those workes. Eg.
Monday & Wednesday for these 4 areas. This reduces the amount of spread between
areas)
5.First Bus announces new measures to enable social distancing on buses
First Bus is introducing a number of measures to ensure that social distancing
guidelines on public transport can be adhered to across its bus fleet, giving
customers further reassurance about the safety of bus travel. The new measures
include a passenger counting facility and follow on from the British government’s
publication of guidance to ensure the ongoing safety of our colleagues and
customers as their plans to ease restrictions progressively unfold.
The most visible sign will be on board where passengers will be clearly directed to
only use seats that are at an appropriate distance from each other. This necessary
step to ensure that buses are safe for everyone will reduce the capacity of each
bus by over 75 per cent and seats will be clearly marked on all First Bus’s
vehicles by Monday 25 May
There will be a facility added to the Ticketer machine, which is on each bus, that
allows drivers to count passengers on and off and which advises them what, if any,
available capacity remains. Where a bus is full, the driver will show a “SORRY BUS
FULL” display on the destination screen.
