Maths foundation – (Simultaneous Equation)

1. The sum of two numbers is 16 and their difference is 4. Find the numbers.

2. Two pens and one eraser cost Rs. 35 and three pens and four erasers cost Rs. 65. Find the cost of
Pen and eraser separately.

3. Cost of 2 biscuits and 3 chocolates is 32 and cost of 3 biscuits and 5 chocolates is 50. Then what is
the individual cost of Biscuit and chocolate?

4. Cost of 3 shirts and 4 jeans is 2500 and cost of 4 shirts and 3 jeans is 2400. Then what is the cost of 1
jeans and 1 shirt separately?

5. 100 tickets were sold. Tickets for adults cost Rs 8, tickets for minors cost Rs 5 and total Rs 725 was
collected.. How many tickets of each kind were sold?

6. The sum of two numbers is 9. The difference in their squares is also 9. Find the numbers.

7. If twice the age of son is added to the age of father, the sum is 56. But if twice the age of the father is
added to the age of son, the sum is 82. Find the ages of father and son.

8. In a triangle, sum of two angles is 1200 and the difference between them is 400. Find the two angles.

9. One number is four times the other number. The difference between the two numbers is 15. Find the
two numbers.

10. A shopkeeper has some mangoes and some apples. If cost of 15 mangoes and 17 Apples is 205
and the cost of one mango is more than that of one apple by Rs 3. Find the individual cost of each
mango and apple.

11. Father's age is 10 years more than twice the age of his son. If difference between their ages is 25
years then find the ages of both?

12. A test has 20 questions worth 88 points. The test consists of True / False questions worth 2 points
each and multiple choice questions worth 8 points each. How many multiple choice questions are on
test?

13. Two small jugs and one large jug can hold 8 cups of water. One large jug minus one small jug
constitutes of 2 cups of water. How many cups of water can each jug hold?

14. A lady has only Rs 1 and Rs 2 coin in her purse. If in all she has 50 coins totalling Rs 70, find the
number of coins of each type.

15. A fraction becomes 10/7 if 2 is added to both numerator and denominator. If however 3 are
subtracted from both numerator and denominator, the fraction becomes 5/2. What is the fraction?
