In ski towns and other smaller communities around Colorado, it’s relatively normal to see a person hitchhiking on
the side of the road and it’s relatively normal to see them get picked up fairly quickly. Whether they need a ride up
to the top of a big hill or have had too much to drink at a bar, hitchhiking is often an acceptable means of getting
to a destination.

Every year, there’s an annual food fight in Copper where 5,000 participants throw 300,000 pounds of tomatoes at
each other. And of course no event in Colorado would be complete without a good amount of libations and live

Ski season is long in Colorado, typically starting in November and sometimes lasting until the Fourth of July. That
being said, a lot of people in the state live to ski. The only downside to so much skiing is that it calls for a lot of

The popular cartoon South Park is set in a mountainous town somewhere in Colorado. While there isn’t a town
called “South Park,” there is an area that goes by that name. In that area lies the town Fairplay, which embraces
the fame of the show and even has a gift shop that sells almost anything stamped with everyone’s favorite
characters.

10. The Faucets Here Have Three Knobs: Hot, Cold, And Craft Beer

Or at least Coloradans wish they did. With 217 breweries calling Colorado their home, Colorado ranks third among
the states, beaten only by California with 509 and Washington with 251. Craft brews give beer drinkers a
seemingly endless number of options, with selections ranging from rocky mountain oyster stouts to beer made
with green chili powder. With so many beer lovers, Colorado also consistently ranks high on “the drunkest states”
lists.
