Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.
Planning
My Instruction and Usability Test Script packet was on How to Make Oreo Balls. I planned it out by
writing down all the steps I personally do in detail and then I watched videos of others making Oreo
Balls online to compare and to add on for ideas. There was not much difference how I made them
versus how others made them except how one decides to decorate the balls at the end, which I
added to my script after noticing. The challenge I faced was that this was my first time writing
instructions for an assignment, therefore many times I did not know if I was providing too much or
too little details. I overcame the challenge after looking at different types of instructions online to see
how much information is provided and looking over rough drafts of my peers. Looking over others’
work gave me an idea of whether I was providing enough information or not. I learned that detailed
instructions are very important, because it is not hard to become confused or lost, especially if it is
something that one may be completely new to.
red, due to red stands for warning. The challenges I faced were the misunderstanding of the overuse
of white space on my first page and the confusion about separating the Usability Tests from the
instructions. I kept just the ingredients, supplies, and the introduction on my first page with the rest
of the space using white space for it to look organized and clean before all the steps are listed.
However, trying to make it appear clean, I realized I overused whitespace after feedback. I overcame
the challenge by adding a picture to take part of the white space up. I overcame the obstacle of
confusion simply by emailing and asking questions until I knew exactly what I was supposed to edit. I
learned how to clearly present instructions and keep it well organized even with several steps with
headers through this assignment.
